he Restless Years" with John Saxon, At 16, a model, TV star, film hopeful cting ambitions undergo a real test, yet some say hers is a "lonely life." ere's a teen-ager ith no thoughts of boys, nces, or chatter parties- jist her Hollywood career. ri a ay. According to her teacher, Mrs. ladys Hoene, Sandra not only kept lp with her schoolwork but turned fit to be one of her best students. "She knows what subjects she likes rd doesn't like," Mrs. Hoene says, lien adds quickly, "Of course, the tate won't give us any leeway in that aspect. She has to take all the sub- fcts in the curriculum." Her favorite ones are science and English literature, and she often puts extra hours on projects she's learned up herself. On the other and, she has little liking for mathe- I latics and history. "Her biggest as ?t," Mrs. Hoene says, "is her ability concentrate. I can read to her while ie's being made up, and she won't l iss a word. She usually does her l ritten work while she's sitting under ie hair dryer." i As of this writing, except for studio i i ranged dates for previews and other 1 ublic functions, Sandra never has W a real date. "It isn't just lack of Sme or her career," her mother ex plains. "I don't think she's interested boys yet. Besides, she simply has o friends her own age and, except the two years at public school in ng Island, never has had any. lostly she is with adults. If anvthine. fc'ng in pictures has helped her meet "re interesting voune people than fe has known before." ' I -a 1 To this Sandra adds, "How can I give up something I never had or miss something I never knew? Nothing .means more to me than my career right now." The most amazing aspect of Sandra's success is that despite the idolization she has known in recent months and the pampering which has always been part of her life, she has grown into a refreshingly unspoiled teen-ager who is probably the only one unimpressed by her success! In fact, she criticizes her performances more severely than do her critics, shrugs off compliments, and calculatingly looks for ways to improve herself. "That's because I look at my pro fessional success like an outsider," Sandra insists objectively. This was demonstrated recently when a 16-. year-old house guest, the son of one of Mrs. Douvain's closest friends, sug gested they go to see Sandra's latest picture together. "I'll be ready right away," Sandra agreed enthusiastically and five min utes later was at the front door, ready to go in blue jeans, sweater, and moccasins. "But you can't go like this it's your picture!" the boy exclaimed. Sandra hesitated a moment. "So it is!" And after another moment's hesi tation: "I'd prefer to be comfortable. C'mon Georgie, let's go!"
