To this Sandra adds, "How can I
give up something I never had or miss
something I never knew? Nothing
.means more to me than my career
right now."
The most amazing aspect of Sandra's
success is that despite the idolization
she has known in recent months and
the pampering which has always been
part of her life, she has grown into a
refreshingly unspoiled teen-ager who
is probably the only one unimpressed
by her success! In fact, she criticizes
her performances more severely than
do her critics, shrugs off compliments,
and calculatingly looks for ways to
improve herself.
"That's because I look at my pro
fessional success like an outsider,"
Sandra insists objectively. This was
demonstrated recently when a 16-.
year-old house guest, the son of one
of Mrs. Douvain's closest friends, sug
gested they go to see Sandra's latest
picture together.
"I'll be ready right away," Sandra
agreed enthusiastically and five min
utes later was at the front door,
ready to go in blue jeans, sweater,
and moccasins.
"But you can't go like this it's your
picture!" the boy exclaimed.
Sandra hesitated a moment. "So it
is!" And after another moment's hesi
tation: "I'd prefer to be comfortable.
C'mon Georgie, let's go!"
