Safety officials drew up a list of the more important items that should be checked to aid vacationeers in their last-minute preparations. 1. Notify the circulation de partment of your newspaper to have the paper sent to your vacation address, or stop de livery while you're away. Tell the milkman and others who make regular home deliveries that you'll be away. 2. Turn off your refriger ator and other utilities. 3. Provide for the care of your garden. 4. Provide for yoiQr pets. ) 5. Arrange for someone to pick up your mail; if neces sar, have it forwarded. - 6. Notify your neighbors and local police that your are taking a trip and that you have asked no one to move anything from your home or apartment. 7. Be sure all exterior doors and windows ae locked. 8. Leave window shades only part way down. 9. Don't leave a note in the mail box for prospective guests announcing that you're gone and to make themselves at home. 10. Plan your trip well in advance, including your itin erary' places to visit, accom modations, points of interest, route information and maps. 11: Make sure you have a car registration certificate and a valid driver's license, with the correct address on them. 12. Remember to-take along such essential items as a ther mos bottle, camera and films, personal effects, sun glasses, first aid kit, travelers checks, check book, flashlight, and motor club and insurance credentials. Ashland Community sing ing will be featured at the first Ashland City Band con cert of ie 1958 season at 7:30 o'clock tonight in the Butler Memorial Band shell in Lithia Park here. Band Director Herbert Ce cil noted that in the past audience participation has been featured but for the last few seasons it had not been attempted. He said that if audience response is favor able, it will be continued in subsequent concerts this sea son. Among selections for Thursday's program will be "Allerseelen" by R i c h r d Strauss, and Leroy Ander son's "Blue Tango." The public is invited to at tend the concerts, which are free. Three Cave Junction Scouts Get Awards Cave Junction W. O. Burch, assistant scoutmaster of Illinois Valley Troop 20. and three candidates from the Troop left for Lake of the Woods June 13 where they received the Order of the Ar row. Candidates were' Danny De Mersseman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed DeMersseman, Ger ald Gibbons, son of Mr. and Mrs.o Frank Gibbons, and Mike Hanby, son of Mr. and Mrs. Doug Hanby. ; Troop 20 is allowed two candidates each year, Mike Hanby was appointed for the session last year, but was un able to attend, and was in cluded with this years aspirants.
