o o o o Dinner Hoftof Medfor4 Couplo Mr. "and Mrs. Pearl Good rich, 2414 Spring street, were honored Tuesday evening at dinner in the Candlelight room of the Medford hotel by their son, Hartwell Good rich of Salt Lake City. The occasion vgis their 50th wed ding anniversary. Also present for the dinner were two of the couple's grandchildren, Tany and Paula Goodrich of Salt Lake City, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Straye, 2587 Merriman road, Medfcjrd, and Mrs. Irene Bry ant, Everett, Wash. The wom en attending the dinner were presented carnation corsages. The Goodriches were mar ried in Wisconsin June 10, 1908, and moved to Medford from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, in 1945. Earlier in the day the couple were honored at break fast by three of their grand children, Judith, Jimmie, and Tanya. Showers Given For Bride-Elect Miss Linda Morton, whose wedding to Kenneth L. Myers is set for June 21, has been honored at a numtaar of par ties. Miss Morton's two sisters, Mrs. Charles F. Shinn and Mrs. Jack Mace, were hostess es for a bridal shower in her honor at the Shinn home, Route 2, Box 442C. The guests numbered 14, and they presented Miss Mor ton gifts for her new home. The hostesses converted their present for the honored guest, an ironing board, into a sail boat wiich the guests tJJled with presents. The sail held a sign which said "Smooth Sailing." Miss Bernice Frohreich was also h&tess for a party which honored the bride-elect, and members of ht club, the Ivy Arts club, gave a party in her honor. Miss Frohreich'c ptrty was held at h$r home, 33 North Orange street, and wag planned as a surprise 'for the honored guest. The gifts were "heaped at the feet of a bride figurine ar ranged by the hostess, and games were played. Miss Morton is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver O. Mor ton, Old Military rotd, and Mr. Myers' parents are Mr. and Mrs. Robert R. Myers, 1101 Woodrow lane. Thompson Jr., took place Sunday, June 8, in Meeker Memorial chapel First Methodist church. The bride's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Carlos W. Morris, 128 Mistletoe street, and the bridegroom is a son of Mrs Mildred M. Thompson, Cincin nati, Ohio. The marriage ceremony was read at two o'clock in the afternoon by Dr. George Rose- berry, and Mr. Morris gave his daughter in marriage. The re ception which followed was m the Morris home. The bride's all lace wedding gown was designed with long full skirt and lon.g sleeves. Her veil was waist length and she carried a white orchid with stepanotis. Mrs. J. Bradley Morris. The bride's mother wore a gown of white lace over green taffeta with a white orchid corsage. J. Bradley Morris, brother of the bride, was best man for the bridegroom, and Steven Morris, another brother, seat ed the guests. Soloist for the ceremony was Mrs. Charles Champlin, and Mrs. Eva Marsh was or ganist. , The church was decorated with white gladiolus and pale pink roses. : About 65 guests attended the wedding and reception. Mrs. Harrison Thomas poured coffee. The wedding cake was served by Mrs. James Rickrode, San Francis co, and Miss Gwen Ruther ford. Eugene, aunt of the bride. The bride's table was decorated with white candles and pink roses. Mr. Thompson and his bride spent their honeymoon in Car- mel, Calif., the bride wearing for traveling a blue and white suit with navy blue accesso ries. The newlyweds will live at 2763 Branch street North, in Sacramento, where the bridegroom is on duty with the United States Army Sig nal corps. The bride, who has lived all her life in Medford, is a grad uate of Medford High scnool and is a clerk with Pacific Telephone and Telegraph company. Here for the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Morris and Ginger, Salem, Ore., Mr. and Mrs. William Morris, Clayton and Elsa Morris, Junction City, and Mr. and Mrs. James Rickrode, San Francisco. Patricia Strader Is OSC Graduate Mrs. Vera Strader and Mrs. A. G. McMillan were in Cor vallis June 9 and 10 to attend graduation ceremonies of Ore gon State college; Mrs. Stra der's daughter, Patricia Ann Strader, was graduated with a bachelor of science degree. She was an honor roll stu dent. Miss Strader has accepted a position with the student co operative at the college and will remain in Corvallis for the present. Court to Hold Stated Session The monthly stated meet ing of Roxy Ann court, Order of the Amaranth, will be held Thursday,-June 19, at 8 p.m. in the Masonic temple. Mrs. Marshall Day, royal matron, and Fred Purdin, royal pa tron announce that this is to be an informal meeting, and plans for the summer's activi ties will be made. Home Rites Wed Couple Eagle Point Melva Ripple and George Allen were mar ried at the home of her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles O. Cearley, in a ceremony at 8 pjri. Saturday, June 7. The wedding music was played by Miss Georgia Weidman and the double-ring ceremony was read by the Rev. N. K. Tully, Central Point. The bride wore a lemon yellow dress and decorations on the table and in the room' were yellow and white. The bride was given in mar riage by her father. Mrs. Jack Chamberlain, Fortuna, Calif., sister of the bride, was matron of honor and Mr. Chamberlain was best man. A reception followed the ceremony with 75 guests in attendance. The wedding cake, baked by the bride groom's mother and decorated by Mrs. Lester McFall, was served by Miss Margaret Cearley. Mrs. Robert Burns served the punch, and Miss Joyce Cearley poured coffee. All are sisters of the bride. Miss Bunny Nelms had charge of the guest book and the gifts. The room decora tions and corsages were ar ranged by the bride's sister, Mrs. Chamberlain. The couple took a wedding trip to Crater Lake and Bend. Later they were in Corvallis to visit the bride's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Leonard R. Adamson and fam ily. - Alta Jeanetie Rosi Couple to Wed In August Rites Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ross, Ponca City,;- Okla., have an nounced the engagement and approaching wedding of their daughter, Alta Jeanette, to Winnifred Bert Oldham, son of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd R. Old ham, . Phoenix. The wedding has been set for August 30 in First Baptist church, Ponca City. The bride-elect was gradu ated from Ponca City High school in 1956 and recently completed her sophomore year at Oklahoma Baptist uni versity, Shawnee. Mr. Old ham, is a graduate of Phoenix High school and - will be a senior this fall in the Baptist university. He has arrived in Medford to spend the summer with his parents. ' . -4 Student Receives , Degree Today Mrs. Dale Hodges, the for mer Marilyn Miller, will re ceive a bachelor of science de gree in medical technology in the 1958 graduation cere monies today at the University of Oregon. Mrs. Hodges is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Miller, 167 Park street, and her parents are in Eugene for the ceremonies. They were ac companied by Thomas Kear ney, an uncle of the graduate. Mrs. Hodges attended Med ford High school and the Uni versity of Washington before enrolling at the University of Oregon Medical school in Portland. She has been on the staff of the school's hos pital since last fall. Mr. Hodges is a student at Port land State college. ' Reinking in Jacksonville. Cohostess for the occasion was J. E. Smith, Jacksonville. A large pink and - green crepe paper umbrella trimmed with pink roses decorated the gift table. Miss Brown was assisted at the gift table by her sister, Miss Marilyn Brown. 1 Games were played during the evening under the super vision of Mrs. Reinking. O. Peterson, '1440 Whitman avenue, Medford, was graduated with honors from Oregon State college last week. He also received a fellowship to Columbia uni versity, New York City, this fall for graduate study. The graduate received his degree in chemical engineer ing with a minor in physics. During his four years at the college he held several offices in his social fraternity, Sigma Pi, and is a member of five honorary fraternities. They included Phi Kappa Phi, scholastic; Sigma Tau and Tau Beta Pi, engineering; Phi Lambda Upsilon, chemistry; and Phi Mu Epsilon, mathe matics. Club Announces Benefit Breakfast Members of the Welcome Wagon club have made plans to serve a benefit pancake breakfast Sunday, June 22, at Girls Community club. Funds earned at the event will be used to buy equipment or toys for the children's department of the new Rogue Valley hos pital. She was escorted to the altar by her father. Miss Sandra Wells, Beaver toh, Ore., was honor-attendant and Miss Ann Dober, Portland, and Miss Sheila Spence were bridesmaids. They wore frocks of rose crystalette over white taffeta and carried cascade bouquets of Ester Reed daisies. Miss Wells' bouquet was of pink flowers and the bridesmaids carried white. James Fagnant, China Lake, Calif., served as best man and Ronald Bentz, Stayton,' and Robert Pranger, Hillsboro, seated the guests. Altar boys were James and Richard Par rish, brothers of the bride groom. Pink gladiolus' and white daisies decorated the church for the ceremony and small bouquets of pink Ester Reed daisies were on the pew ends. Bruno Pellegrini played the organ wedding music. . Adult Bible Class The adult Bible class of First Christian church will install new officers at a meet ing Thursday, June 19, in the Fellowship hall at the church.
