Williams-West Wedding Holiday Event One of the holiday season's largest events was the wedding of Miss Priscilla West, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. D. Kirkland West, to Christopher P. S. Wil liams, son of Mrs. Thomas V. Williams, 1975 Houston road, and the late Mr. Williams. The ceremony was held Monday, De cember 23, at four o'clock in the afternoon at First Presby terian church. Dr. West, pastor of the church, read his daugh ter's double-ring wedding serv ice assisted by the Rev. George R. V. Bolster, rector of St. Mark's Episcopal church. The bridegroom has attended St. Mark's church since boyhood. The large assemblage of guests almost completely filled the church. Large baskets of white chrysanthemums, silvered fir trees and white tapers in cande labra provided a setting for the wedding party and candles with chrysanthemums stood in the windows. The bride was escorted to the altar by her brother, Kirkland West Jr., and given in marriage by her father and mother. She wore a gown of white tissue taf feta and lace with wide neck line, close-fitting bodice and very full skirt. Her finger-tip length veil was held by a cap of lace medallions first worn by Mrs. Gordon James,-the for mer Anne Caldwell, at her wed ding. The bride's bouquet was pink carnations and rosebuds with lily-of-the-valley. Miss Ellen West was her sister's honor attendant and oth er attendants were Mrs. Doug las Van Fleet. Corvallis, Ore., Miss Rhoda Williams, sister of the bridegroom, Mrs. Arthur Clawson, Eugene, Ore., and Mrs. James Fenwick, Portland. Their frocks of taffeta in the jewel shades of lavender, blue and rose were worn with taffeta and net hats to match. All carried white carnations. Best man for Mr. Williams was his brother-in-law, Robert Cfimall, Seattle, Wash., and the ushers were Henry Padgham, Angus Stewart, Klamath Falls; Arthur Wilson, Portland and Bruce West, younger brother of the bride. Mrs. Robert Sheldon was at the church organ. For the wed ding processional the bride had selected Purcell's "Trumpet Vol untary" and for "the recessional the "Toccata" from Widor's "Fifth Symphony." Other num bers were by Richard D. Werner, violinist, with Mrs. Sheldon arrnmnanvine. fhe large reception which fol lowed was also in the church and was given by the Woman's association of the church as a Christmas present to Dr. and Mrs. West. The wedding recep tion committee of the associa tion is headed by Mrs. Claude Mclntyre and Mrs. E. L. Lenox, co-chairmen. Mrs. Scott Davis, Mrs. E. L. Lenox, Mrs. Verna McCallister and Mrs. D. A. Hutchison are members. These women poured and served, with other association members as sisting. The church and recep tion decorations were the work of Mrs. Davis and Mrs. Garner T. Haupert. White chrysanthe mums and greenery decorated the reception rooms and tables, and silver candelabra held white candles. Miss Shirley Lynch and Sue and Debbie Roberts, small daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Her bert Roberts, took charge of the guest book. For the event Mrs. West wore a brown faille dress with flow ered hat and the bridegroom's mother wore a grey and pink silk frock with pink hat and pink rosebud corsage. Following the eception the Wests were -hosts for a dinner at the Medford hotel for the bridal party and close relatives. About 30 attended. Mrs. Wil liams gave the rehearsal dinner the night before at the Colony club for about 25 guests. The newlyweds traveled south for their honeymoon, and will live in Portland. The bride, a graduate of Medford High school and Lewis and Clark college, Portland, is now a student teach er in music at David Douglas and Russellville schools in Port land. Mr. Williams, graduate of Medford High school and the University of Oregon, is now a senior in the University of Ore gon Medical school, Portland. He is also on the staff of St. Vincent's hospital there. Here for the wedding were D. O. Williams, Klamath Falls, uncle of the bridegroom; F. W, Hyde, Bly, Ore., a cousin; Mrs Robert Small, Seattle, the bride groom's sister and Miss Mar garet West, Davenport, Iowa, aunt of the bride. A ft fry Mr. and Mrs. Travis J. Worth en, Coos Bay. announce the en gagement of their daughter, Jane, to Bill L. Russell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Russell. 1139 West Main street. Both Miss Worthen and Mr. Russell are seniors in teacher education at Southern Oregon college. The weddiag will be an event of Junefe Mary Kay McCormick Miss McCormick, Jerry G. Lehman Engaged to Wed Mr. and Mrs. Philip J. Mc Cormick, 1800 Myers lane, Med ford, announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Kay, to Jerry Glenn Leham, Medford, son of Roy E. Lehman, also of this city. Miss McCormick is a graduate of Medford High school and American Air college, Seattle, Wash. Mr. Lehman attended Medford schools and is also a graduate of American Air Col lege in Seattle. Both students majored in airline training and are planning careers in this field. No date has been set for the wedding. Smorgasbord Set For Dance Club Members of the Pioneer dance club have planned a smorgasbord at Kershaw Square Tuesday, De cember 31, beginning at 8:30 p.m. Baked ham and coffee will be furnished and those attending are to bring salads, desserts and hors d' oeuvres. Mrs. Rog ers. the former Ruth Elizabeth Allbert, and Mr. Rogers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl W. Rogers, 847 Pennsylvania avenue, Med ford, were married Thanksgiv ing day at the First Presbyter ian church in Palo Alto. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene F. Allbert, Buffalo, N.Y.,'who were present for the wedding. Dr. Chester W. Hamblin offic iated at the four o'clock after noon ceremony. Mr. Allbert gave his daughter in marriage. The bride wore a ballerina length white silk shantung frock fashioned with three - quarter length sleeves, flared skirt, and bateau neckline. Her shoulder length veil was held by a pearl and sequin trimmed pillbox and she carried a bouquet of white carnations encircling a white or chid. Mrs. John Clark, Denver, was matron of honor for her sister. She wore a red velveteen frock and carried pink carnations. Roland Rogers, Hay ward, served as best man for his cous in. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Allbert chose a blue lace dress with pale pink accessories. Mrs. Rogers wore rose lace with matching accessories. They both had lavender orchid corsages. Following the ceremony a fam ily dinner was held at Rickey's Studio Inn. Attending were the parents of the couple as well as members of the wedding party. The bride chose a black wool sheath with checked jacket with red lining for traveling attire. The bride is a graduate of State University of New York College for Teachers, Buffalo, and was a member of Alpha Sig ma Pi social sorority and Kappa Delta Pi, national education hon or society at the college. She is in her second year of teaching at Benjamin Bubb Ichool in Moun tain View. Mr. Rogers, a gradu ate of Medford High school and Oregon State college, studied last year in The Netherlands on a Fulbright scholarship. He is now an electrical engineer at Syl vania Defense Research corpor ation in Mountain View and is also doing graduate work at Stanford university. Couple Married In Church Rites The wedding of Virgina Schus ter, 1119 East Jackson avenue, Medford, and Alton Williams, Coos Bay, was held Sunday, De cember' 15, at one o'clock in the afternoon in the Junction City, Oregon, Methodist church. The Rev. James W. Workman Jr. officiated at the double ring ceremony attended by 28 rela tives and friends. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. Ida Radford, Hot Springs, Ark. She has been employed in Medford by the Alley Lumber company. The bridegroom is employed by the Oregon Liquor Control Commission in Coos Bay where the couple are mak ing their home. The bride wore an oyster white, flannel sheath frock trimmed with satin and a cor sage of orchids. Attending the couple were Mr. and Mrs. George Temple ton, uncle and aunt of the bride groom, Junction City. Following the ceremony a re ception was held at the Tem pleton home. Mrs. Arthur Lilly, Corvallis, cut and served the wedding cake and Mrs. Eva Templeton, Brownsville, served the punch. Among the guests at the wed ding were Miss Alpha McMahon, daughter of the bride, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lovett, all Med ford. 4 Meeting Planned By Talent Club Talent Talent Garden club will meet January 8 at the new home of Mrs. Chester Newton, Ross lane, Medford, with Mrs. j George Hartley assisting. The group met for a Christmas party recently at the home of Mrs. E. L. Bunnell, 32 Chestnut street. Mrs. Eleanor Powers was co-hostess. Gifts were ex changed and arrangements and ideas for Christmas decorations were shown and discussed. Miss Harris is a graduate of Medford High school while Mr. Steele is a Salem High school graduate. Both young people are attending Southern Oregon col lege. . No date has been set for the wedding. WAC Here Pfc. Dorothy. Allen of the Wo men's Army corps is spending the holidays in Medford with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Em erson Allen 880 Stewart avenue. Miss Allen, who is stationed at Ft. McClellan, Ala., will leave January 2 to report for duty. Program to Have Soloists, Ballet Women's Chorus Two works to be given Jan uary 26 by the Southern Ore gon Philharmonic orchestra un der the direction of Conductor Richard Werner require vocal soloists, piano soloists, women's chorus, ballet and a narrator. . The first is "The Blessed Da mozel" by Debussy written for two female solo voices, women's chorus and orchestra. The so prano will be Mrs. Ralph Mat lack, the contralto Lois Windsor, and the chorus, the women's chorus of Ashland under direc tion of Miss Helene Robinson. The other work to be perform ed and requiring soloists is the "musical joke" written by Saint Saens, "The Carnival of Ani mals", which was written for two painos and orchestra. Miss Robinson and Bruno Pel legrini will be the pianists. A set of verses for narrator was written by Ogden Nash to be read in connection with the per formance and will be given by Angus Bowmer, founder and di rector of the Ashland Shake spearean Festival, Ashland. Also to be seen during some of the" sequences of this work will be ballet numbers given by Colleen Hope dancers. A color ful and energetic presentation is planned, those in charge state. Potluck refreshments will be served at midnight. Ladies are requested to bring a salad, pie, cake, or other food. Baked ham and coffee will be served free. Favors, prizes and entertain ment will be featured during the evening. Fran Cronin and guest callers will call the squares. The dance is arranged by the Talent City council for the buil ding fund benefit.
