Cordy Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Cordy, Beall lane, Medford. The ceremony took place, in the home of the bride's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Ritchie, oCrvallis. Poin settias decorated the house for the double ring service read by the Rev. Robert Peters of Cor vallis First Methodist church. Given in marriage by Mr. Ritchie, the bride wore a white lace gown of ballerina length and a satin hat. She carried pink carnations. Her attendant, Miss Carmen Cooper, Roseburg, wore a red taffeta ballerina gown and car ried white blossoms. Jack Rau, a Chi Phi fraternity brother of the bridegroom was best man. The bride, a graduate of Rose burg high school, is a sophomore at Oregon State college. The bridegroom is a graduate of Crater high school and is a jun ior in the college of electrical engineering at the college. Mr. and Mrs. Cordy were in Corvallis for the ceremony. Cordy Jr. Mr. and Mrs. Dom Sylvan Provost (Landis Photo) -Presbyterian Service Weds Joyce Bearden, Dom Provost An event of the holidays was the wedding of Miss Joyce Mary Bearden to Dom Sylvan Provost, held Sunday, December 22, at First Presbyterian church here. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Percy C. Bearden, 25 Lozier lane, Medford, and the bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Dormna Provost, Ashland More than 350 guests attended the double-ring ceremony, which was read by Dr. D. Kirkland West at 3 o'clock in the after noon. Decorations were in white and green. Large baskets held white snapdragons and chrysan themums; holly, white flowers and candles were arranged in the windows. Small chrysanthe mums and sprigs of holly deco rated the pew ends. Mr. Bearden gave his daugh ter in marriage. She wore a gown of white lace and tulle over taffeta fashioned with long sleeved bodice and billowing skirt over hoops. Her veil, loan ed by Mrs. Thomas Fairbairn, was held by a cap encrusted with pearls. The bride's bouquet was stephanotis and white rosebuds encircling an orchid. Miss Shirley Brown, New York City, was maid-of-honor and Miss Deloris Metzger, Portland and Miss Meta Jean Frink, Medford, were bridesmaids. Bridesma trons were Mrs. Lester Berger on, Portland, Mrs. Thomas Fair bairn, Oakland, Calif., and John Wenker, Ashland. All the at tendants, with the exception of Mrs. Wenker, were Alpha Phi sorority sisters of the bride at the University of Oregon and all members of the 1956 graduating class. Their identical frocks were of dark green satin designed with back fullness and bows and were worn with matching satin head dresses. The attendants carried bouquets of white carnations. The wedding date was the first anniversary of the Thomas Fair bairn's wedding. Louis Stafford, Portland, was best man for Mr. Provost and seating the guests were Roy Morgan, Seattle, Roger Newton, Gerlach, Nev., W. Berthold Bar num Jr., Phoenix, Ore., William Wittenberg and Verne Perry Jr. both Portland. Mrs. Richard Hart played the wedding music. The wedding reception was held at Rogue Valley Country club. The wedding cake was en circled with white chrysanthe mums and bouquets of these blos soms and greenery decorated the serving tables. Mrs. Birdie Swearinger, Mrs. William Deatherage. Miss Jackie Pond and Mrs. Ed Singmaster, Ash-1 land, served punch. Mrs. L. G. j Frink and Mrs. P. R. Hardy, Ashland, poured coffee and tea. Mrs. W. Berthold Barnum Jr., took charge of the guest book. Mrs. Orrin L. Brown and Mrs. Kenneth Brown, Medford, Mrs. H. S. Ingle and Mrs. W. E. Bart elt, Ashland, cut the wedding cake. Abby Green provided the re ception music. For the wedding and reception the bride's mother wore a dark j green satin gown with black ac- j cessories and white rosebud cor sage. The bridegroom's mother wore a grey wool dress with white accessories and white rose bud corsage. Miss Brown Wed To Monte Rinq Prospect Miss Delores Brown became the bride of Monte King in a ceremony held Tuesday, De cember 17, in the Navy chapel at Long Beach, Calif. The Rev. DaSiiel M. Jordan officiated. Mr. Ring, who is serving with the U.S. Navy, is stationed at Long Beach. The bride traveled south for the wedding accompanied by Mrs. LeRoy Draper and Mrs. Francis Ring. The bride is now making her home in Prospect, a Mr. Provost and his bride made a brief wedding trip, the bride wearing a white suit with mink collar and dark brown ac cessories. They are living at 935 Harmony lane, Ashland. The bride is a graduate of Medford High school and the University of Oregon and has been a kin dergarten teacher. At the univer sity she was one of the school's beauty queens, having been named Moonlight Girl, was pres ident of her sorority, Alpha Phi, and served on the rally board. Mr. Provost, graduate of Ash land High school and the Uni versity of Oregon, has been as sociated in business with his fa ther and will take over manage ment of the Provost Furniture company in Ashland after the first of January. At the univer sity he was on the golf team and is one of Rogue Valley Coun try club's outstanding players. He is a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Here for the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. R. A. McMillin, grandmother of the bride-elect, 661 J street, Medford. Miss Strader is a daughter of Mrs. Vera Strader of Medford and Portland. Mr. Byrne is a son of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Byrne, Eugene. Miss Strader is a senior at Oregon State college and is a member of Delta Gamma social sorority. Mr. Byrne is a junior at Oregon State college and is affiliated with Beta Theta Pi social fraternity. The wedding is scheduled to take place August 24 and the couple plan to make their home in Corvallis. Sally Ann Ross And Neil Plumley Plan Summer Rites Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Ross, 424 Windsor avenue, Medford, an nounce the engagement of their daughter, Sally Ann, to Neil Plumley, son of Mr. and Mrs. W..D. Plumley, 906 North Cen tral avenue, Medford. Miss Ross and Mr. Plumley are freshmen at Oregon State college where Miss Ross is a member of Delta Delta Delta social sorority. Mr. Plumley is affiliated with Phi Gamma Delta social fraternity. Both students are graduates of Medford High school. A late summer wedding is planned. Barbara Ann Fort To Become Bride Of Coy McFarland Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Fort, Dark Hollow road, Medford, an nounce the engagement and ap proaching marriage of their daughter, Barbara Ann Fort, to Coy Dean McFarland, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde A. McFarland, Grants Pass. Boch young people are em ployed by Pacific Telephone and Telegraph company in Medford. The wedding will be on Febr uary 15. Announce Plans For Holiday Party A holiday party for former 4-H club members now in col lege and 4-H members 14-years old and over will be held Mon day, December 30, by the Jack son county 4-H Teenage council at the courthouse auditorium, Medford, at 7:30 p.m. Members may invite guests to the event. 1 - -vP Miss Nancy Redhead Announce Trothal Of Miss Redhead, James Tizekker Jacksonville - Mr. and Mrs. George J. Redhead, Route 2, Box 111, Upper Applegate road, announce the engagement of then daughter, Nancy Lou Red head, to James Edward Tizek ker, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Tizekker, 2116 East Main street Medford. No date has been set for the wedding. Miss Redhead is a graduate of Jacksonville High school with the class of 1957, and her fi ance, a graduate of Medford High school, will enroll for his senior year at Southern Oregon college. At present he is in bus iness with his father. ' Home Rites In Medford Wed Couple Miss Betty Joan Hershiser be came the bride of Leroy Nichol as Martin in a ceremony held at the home of the bride's parents Monday, December 23. V. L. Hershiser, an ordained minister of the First Christian church, Eugene, and uncle of the bride, officiated for the double ring ceremony held at 1 o'clock in the afternoon. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Hershiser, 1255 Sweet road, and the bride groom is the son of Mrs. Edith Martin, Portland. The bride wore a gown of white chromespun with finger tip veil held in place by a band of white flowers. She carred a cypripidium orchid and white carnations over a white Bible. Her father gave her in marriage. Matron of honor was Mrs. Marvin Martin, Portland, sister- in-law of the bridegroom. Her gown was of pastel green and she wore a gardenia corsage. Marvin Martin was best man for his brother. Baskets filled with cedar boughs and poinsettias decorated the home. At the reception following the ceremony, Mrs. V. L. Hershiser, Eugene, aunt of the bride, cut the wedding cake. Mrs. Marvin Martin poured coffee and Mrs. Orpha Wendel, grandmother of the bride, was at the punch bowl. Mrs. Robert Meadows, the bride's sister, had charge of the guest book and presided at the gift table. For the wedding the bride's mother wore a golden brown tailored dress with yellow cor sage. The mother of the bride groom wore a dress of navy blue and white, with a gardenia and carnation corsage. For traveling the bride chose a dark green princess-style dress with black accessories. Guests from out of town in cluded J. D. Hershiser, Eugene. Following a brief honeymoon in California the young couple will be at home at 958 Polk street, Corvallis, where Mr. Mar tin is a freshman at Oregon State college. The bride, a graduate of Med ford high school, has been em ployed by the Medford Credit bureau. f : Pupils Presented In Piano Recital A group of students of Mrs. W. E. Hercher were heard in a piano recital Wednesday, De cember 18, at Mrs. Hercher's home, 1608 Stratford avenue. Parents and friends of the pupils were invited, and refreshments were served following the re cital. Students playing piano solos were Janine Scott, Lynn Wood, Roberta Little, Carolyn Reid, Deborah Rader, Sheryl Vaughn, Candy Chesney, Carol Little, Linda Nash, Sally Polk, Penny Roach, Connie Hunt and Jeanne Bevis. To Nominate Nomination of, officers is plan ned for the meeting of the De gree of Honor Lodge No. 105 Monday, December 30, at 8 p.m. Members are asked to attend to take part in the nominations. Miss Sally Cooney (Miller photo) Miss Sally Cooney, Graduate Student Engaged to Marry Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Cooney, 717 Dakota avenue, announce the engagement of their daugh ter, Sally Marie, to Douglas H. Underwood, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence C. Underwood, Hiram, Ohio. Miss Cooney is a graduate of Medford High school and Wil lamette university where she was affiliated with ,Delta Gam ma social sorority. She is a grad uate student at the University of California at Berkeley where she is majoring in English and is a teaching assistant. Mr. Underwood, also a graduate stu dent studying mathematics at the University of California, is a graduate of Case Institute of Technology, Cleveland, Ohio. He is also a teaching assistant at the university. The eneaeement announce ment was made in Medford while the students were spending the holidays here at the Cooney home. ' No date has been set for the wedding. Mr. and Mrs. William Swof- ford and children left Medford Thursday for their home in Ar eata. Calif., after SDendine the Christmas vacation here with Mrs. Swofford's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Keplinger, 107 South Newtown avenue. Six Grandparents Honor Small Girl Little Jeanine Wiley, who cele brated her first birthday anni versary December 26, visited with six grandparents last week. Jeanine, daughter of Staff Sgt. and Mrs. Donald Wiley of Sac ramento, and her parents are here for the holidays. The Wileys are guests of Mr. Wiley's mother, Mrs. V. J. Nam itz, and Mr. Namitz, 930 Whit man avenue. The party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Grigsby, 613 East Eighth street, also grandparents of the little girl. In addition, three great-grandmothers were all in Medford last week. They are Mrs. Gertrude Mahan, Williams, Ariz., mother of Mrs. Namitz; Mrs. Anna Tonn and Mrs. Mabel Grigsby, both Medford.
