o o G o TWO MEDFORD (OREGON) Miss Dixie Lee Walker Wed Gold Hill Miss Dixie Lee Walker became the bride of Fred Allen Herrmann in a ceremony held Saturday evening, Novem ber 30 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran church in Medford. The Rev. Kenneth F. Korby, pastor of the church, officiated at the 8 o'clock double-ring ceremony. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Delos Walker, Gold Hill and the bridegroom is a son of Mrs. Mary Herrmann, Central Point. The wedding color theme was blue and white. The church was decorated with white chrysan themums in tall white baskets and two white candelabras held lighted white tapers. Bows of white ribbon were at the pew ends, and white tapers in tall aisle candlesticks also furnished light for the ceremony. Soloists were Lary Smith and his twin brother, Gry Smith, Central Point. Mrs. Richard B Smith, Medford played the or gan. Given in marriage by her fath er. the bride wore a gown of white lace and tulle over white satin, fashioned with lone sle eves, mandarin neckline and fit ted bodice. The chapel-length bouffant skirt was scalloped at the lower edge. Her fingertip length illusion veil was held in place by a pearl crown end the bridal bouquet was a lavender orchid encircled bj white steph- anotis. She also carried a white prayer book to which an old fashioned gold chatelaine type watch was attached. The prayer book and the watch were wed ding gifts from the bride's moth er. The watch which .was the "something old," was originally a gift to the bride's maternal grandmother, Mrs. Ward (Min nie) Wills, from Mr. Wills be fore their marriage, and was worn on the lapel of the grand mother's dress at her wedding which took place in Grand Rap ids, Mich, in 1905. Miss Helen Hood was maid of honor. Miss Kathryn Coe; Cen tral Point, was bridesmaid, and Mrs. Adrain Van Horn, Central Point was bridesmatron. The bride's sister, Linda Lou Walker, Q was junior bridesmaid. Miss Hood wore a Copenhagen blue taffeta frock designed with elbow-length sleeves, low sweet heart neckline, fitted bodice and full ballerina length skirt. Her necklace was white pearls. She carried a cascade bouquet of white pompon chry santhemums with blue net and silver leaves. The other attendants all wore frocks and hats styled similiar to Miss Hood's in contrasting shades of blue taffeta.' Back interest of the heart-shaped hats were but terfly bows and waist length streamers of matching taffeta. They also wore white pearl neck laces and carried smaller cascade bouquets of white pompon chry santhemums with blue net and silver leaves. Their pumps were white. Candlelighters were Miss Bob by Lee Danielson, Central Point a niece of the bridegroom, and Mrs. George Juveland, Central Luncheon Given At Country Club Frank Van Dyke was host yes terday for a luncheon at Rogue Valley Country club which hon ored Dr. John R. Richard, Eu gene, chancellor of the Oregon State System of Higher Educa tion, and Mrs. Richards. Other honored guests included William Walch, Coos Bay, mem ber of the Oregon State Board of Higher Education, Mrs. Walch, Dr. Elmo Stevenson, Ash land, president of Southern Ore gon college, and Mrs. Stevenson. Mr. Van Dyke, Medford at torney, was formerly a member of the education board. Dr. and Mrs. Richards and the Welches were in southern Ore gon to attend the dedication of the new Britt Student center and the physical education and health building at Southern Ore gon college, held yesterday aft ernoon in Ashland. mm .50 Sunday, December 8, I9S7 To Fred Allen Point. They wore ballerina length blue taffeta frocks, fash ioned similarly to the maid of honor's frock, with head bands of the blue taffeta. Their wrislet bouquets were white chrysan themums. Ring bearer was Charles Wiils, Eureka, Calif, a cousin of the bride. Emmett Herrmann, Central Point, Brother of the bride groom, served as best man. Ush ers were another brother, La dale Herrmann, Butte Falls, George Juveland and Roger Car rigan, both Central Point. Approximately 2 0 0 relatives and friends attended the wedd ing and reception held immediate ly following the ceremony in the church parlor. The bride's table, covered with a white lace cloth, was centered with an arrange ment of blue ribbon and white pompon chrysanthemums encir cling the wedding cake and flanked by white tapers in cry stal holders. Mrs. Ruby Quakenbush, aunt of the bride, cut and served the wedding cake. Mrs. Alfred Dan ielson, Central Point, sister of the bridegroom, poured coffee and Mrs. Lawrence Wills, Eur eka, Calif., aunt of the bride, presided at the punch bowl, loaned for the occasion by Mrs. A. A. Walker, paternal grand mother of the bride. Miss Sally Elden, Central Point, attended the guest book. Mrs. Emmett Herrmann, sister-in-law of the bridegroom, was in charge of the gift table. For the wedding and reception the bride's mother wore a sheath dress of ice blue brocade satin with matching jacket, blue vel vet hat and white accessories. The bridegroom's mother wore a Copenhagen blue silk - crepe frock with biege accessories. Their corsages were pink rose buds. Among the guests were the b r i d e's paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Walker. Mrs. Walker wore a candlelight blue brocade satin suit-dress with rhinestone trim and white accessories for her grand-daughter's wedding and reception. Her corsage was also pink rosebuds. Parker Woods' . Herrmann The newlyweds traveled to Reno, Nev., and Lake Tahoe for their wedding trip, the bride wearing a black wool sheath fur trimmed suit with red velvet hat and gloves. , The couple will reside in 'Cen tral Point until the first of the year when they will both go to McMinnville, Ore., where he will enter Linfield college. Both are graduates of Crater High school and the bride, member of a well-known Gold Hill family has resided in Gold Hill all her life. She is employed as a sec retary for Rich Plan of Southern Oregon in Medford. Mr. Her rmann was a star baseball pitch er for Crater High schools, a let terman in football and basketball and an all-conference player in basketball. He is an IBM operator for Bear Creek orchard, Medfod. Among guests attending the wedding and reception were the bride's uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Wills, Eureka, Calif., who celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary that day. The Wills' three children, Chris Ann, Susan and Charles, who served as ring bearer, also at tended. Other eut-of-town guests in cluded Richard Walker, brother of the bride, Los Angeles; Mr. and Mrs. Laverne Walker, the bride's uncle and aunt, Santa Rosa, Calif.: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wallace, brother- in-law and sist er of the bridegroom, Eugene; Mrs. Ray Turner, Grants Pass; Mrs. Philip (Pete) ThomDson. Seattle, Wash.; Miss Sally Elden ana Miss Grace Gail, both stu dents at Oregon State college, Corvallis; Ronnie Harrison, who attends Willamette university. Engagement Told . At Family Party Mr. and Mrs. John Brewold, isundown road, announce the en gagement of their daughter, Meralyn Joa, to Larry Wayne Slessler, son of Mr. and Mrs Cameron S. Slessler, 846 West Thirteenth street, Medford. The announcement was made Thanks giving day at a family reunion at the home of the bride-elect's grandmother, Mrs. Cyril Gay and Mr. Gay, 856 West Four? teenth street. Miss Brewold is a senior at Medford High school. Mr. Sless ler is a Medford High school graduate and is attending Col lege of Idaho. Present at the reunion when the announcement was made were Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Road, Heppner, Mr. and Mrs. Harold von Stein, Medford, aunts and uncles of Miss Brewold, Mrs. Alf Brewold, grandmother of the bride-elect, and Lance Brewold. No wedding date has been set.
