Mrs. Htrman Ekerson, 42 South Groveland avenue, is a member of Medford Garden club and
'Iter horr was one of four visited on a club tour Thursday during which yuletide decorating
ideas were demonstrated. Mrs. Ekerson's mantel is centered with a ceramic madonna and
ongel group and at either end are pine cones and needle clusters sprayed with pink glitter.
JSfaduafed lengths of tinsel are suspended from mirror's edge and hold glass Christmas balls.
For the large picture window in the Ekerson living room, Mrs. Ekerson made a biblical scene of the three wise men approach
ing Bethlehem on their camels. Mrs. Ekerson worked from a pattern and used Bon Ami for the picture, touching up the edges
a bit after it dried. Mrs. Ekerson's home decorations also include a collection of dolls from foreign lands belonging to her
daughter, Louise, and arranged on the paino. Some were sent from abroad by the Ekerson's son, Arthur. Mrs. Ekerson also
included one traditional arrangement of greenery and red candles for the dining room.
The time has .come when the pleasant hustle and bustle of Christmas preparations fill every home and shop. Mothers and house
wives are particularly busy with presents to make and wrap, the house to tidy and decorate and holiday food to plan and prepare,
trapping of Christmas packages has become almost an art in recent years and Mrs. Ben Belknap, 67 Perrydale avenue, is so expert
that she gives demonstrations for groups. Mrs. Belknap wisely shops and wraps early in the month and is shown here in the midst
of the pretty clutter while her son, Ben, Washington school student, and his younger sister, Rosemary, 3, try to help. Mrs. Belknap
uses several types of wrapping paper, ribbons of different color and design, metallic ornaments, candy canes, Santa Claus figurines;
O sne can wrap and tie in scores of ways. Mrs. Belknap is the daughter of Mrs. F. G. Bunch, 2516 Lyman avenue.

The small folks like to make gifts,, too, and Mrs. H. A. Stanley, 35 Crater Lake avenue, often helps her young neighbors
with their Christmas list. One afternoon last week John Rowan, 8, (at left) and young Malcolm Byers, 7, who declared he
prefers to be called "Little Mac," worked on felt Christmas collars for their dogs. They wrote the pets' names on the collars,
which Mrs. Stanley had cut, traced the letters in glue and then sprinkled on bright glitter. John is a son of Mr. and Mrs.
J. P. Rowan, 828 Minnesota avenue, and Little Mac' parents are Dr. and Mrs. Malcolm Byers, 907 East Main street.

Deep in Christmas preparations last week were Mrs. Fred L. Ryde, 24 Jeanette avenue, (at left) and
her sister, Mrs. Harry Cole, 10 South Keeneway. Mrs. Ryde is making place cards for a Christmas
party of Adarel Past Matrons' club, of which she is president, and Mrs. Cole makes cut work em
broidery articles for her daughters-in-law. The Rydes have lived here many years, the Coles came
here last summer after almost 40 years in Pullman, Wash.
