o o n 0 O O o 0 o 0 O Concert Set Friday Central Point Crater High school music department, under the direction of Norman D. Car others, will present its annual winter concert at 8 p.m. Friday, December 13 in Crater High school auditorium. The 85-piece concert band will play the type of music literature that displays the rich tonal ef fects possible with the modern instrumentations, the director states. The selection will include Frank Erickson's new composi tion "Toccata for Band." Theme for this year's concert will be "Sentimental Journey.'' This idea anticipates the many trips to be made by those want ing to be at the "home place" for Christmas. This song will be played by the band and sung by the 50-voice choir. The 45-voice Girls Glee club will also perform. New Group Organized Newly organized here is Rogue valley chapter, Women's Association of the Allied Bever age Industry. The group has al ready elected officers, and a charter will be presented at a meeting to be held Monday, De cember 9, at 8 p.m. in the Pio neer room of the JacksOh hoteL Mrs. Betti Boyle, Jackson ho tel manager, was narfied presi dent, Mrs. Kenneth Hamner, Holland hotel, vice-president; Mrs. James Clithero, Rogue Ri viera, secretary-treasurer; Mrs. Bichard Arndt, Medford, public ity chairman. About 20 charter members are expected to attend the meeting Monday night. The local chapter will be affiliated with the state and national organizations. One of the first projects of the new group will be to aid an underprivileged family for the holidays. Women attending the meeting Monday night are asked to take preserved or canned foods for a Christmas basket. , , S ? Johnston (Brainerd photo) Central Point Church Scene Of Johnston- IVisely Service Central Point Miss Marilyn Jean Wisely daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Wisely, 97 Big- ham lane, Central Point, became the bride of Peter S. Johnston Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter S. Johnston, 928 West Second street, Medford, in a ceremony held Saturday, November 23, at the First Presbyterian church, Central Point. Dr. Norman K. Tully officiat ed at the four o'clock afternoon double ring ceremony attended by more than 50 relatives and friends. Yellow and bronze colored chrysanthemums, ferns, and yel low candles decorated the church for the wedding. Mrs. Lester Gorden and Mrs. Charles Jantzer were in charge of the decorations. Mrs. Gordon Mek vold played the traditional piano wedding music and Mrs. Clynton Crisman was soloist. Given in marriage by her fath er, the bride wore a ballerina length white satin brocade dress fashioned with boat neckline, three-quarter length sleeves, and bouffant skirt. Her veil of net was edged with lace and was held by a cluster of white flow ers. She carried yellow carna tions encircling a white orchid on a white Bible. The bride j made her wedding dress and her veil was loaned by Mrs. George Johnston, sister-in-law of the bridegroom. She carried a hand kerchief of hand drawn work made more than 50 years ago by her great-aunt, Mrs. H. W Donner, Snohomish, Wash., who was a guest at the wedding. The Bible she carried was a present of another great-aunt, Miss Min nie White. Mrs. Ernest Wisely was honor attendent for her sister-in-law. Miss Doris Burritt and Miss San- dra Densmore, Roseburg, were bridesmaids. They wore yellow lace over yellow taffeta frocks with brown ribbons in their hair. They carried yellow and bronze chrysanthemums tied with brown ribbon. Cecil Owings served as best man while Ernest Wisely, broth:- er of the bride, and George Johnston, brother of the bride groom, seated the guests. Following the ceremony a re ception was held at the church. Mrs. George Johnston, sister-in-law of the bridegroom, Redding, Calif., cut and served the wed ding cake baked and decorated by the bride's mother. She was assisted by Mrs. Floyd Whillock, sister of 'the bridegroom. Mrs. Melvin Johnston, sister-in-law of the bridegroom, poured the cof fee and Mrs. David Wisely, cous in of the bride, presided at the punch bowl. The newlyweds are making their home at 107-A Lampman road, Gold Hill. For her travel ing attire the bride wore a beige knit suit with white accents and white accessories and the orchid from her bridal bouquet. The bride attended Crater High school, and the bridegroom at tended Medford High school. Prior to the wedding the bride was nonorea at two showers. One was given by Mrs. Peter Johnston, mother of the bride groom. Mrs. Ernest Wisely, sister-in-law of the bride, and Miss Doris Burritt, were hostesses for another shower. Where You Park at the Door Assistants Plan Meeting Thursday Third meeting of Jackson County Association of Medical Assistants will be held at the Tally Ho dining room Thursday, December 12, at 7:45 p.m. At the dinner meeting mem bers will exchange ideas regard ing the educational program which is being formulated by Mrs." Jean Smith, program chair man, Mrs. Carmelita Graham, president, announced. Advisory committee from the Jackson county Medical associa tion for the Medical Assistants are Dr. Thorian J. Shasky, Dr. Ralph Thompson, and Dr. Oscar Halboth. The national organization, Am erican Association of Medical Assistants, was organized in Oc tober. Included in the member ship are persons employed in a physician's office or clinic. Temple Members To Provide Gifts For Child Patients Zuleima temple, Daughters of the Nile, will hold a stated ses sion Saturday, December 14 at 1 p.m. at the Medford Masonic temple. A covered dish lunch eon is planned at 12 noon and women of Medford are to take the hot dishes. All members are reminded that this is also the Christmas tree party for children in the Shrine hospital in Portland, they are to bring gifts properly wrapped and marked if for a boy or girl and the age group.
