The 'amily Council does not give advice; it merely reports on problems that Vive been dealt with by responsible ageneie and counselor Mm. T. D. Carl should find a handicapped girl. Carl D. But I only like at- C tractive girls. Mrs. T. D. My husband and I are terribly concerned about our youngest son, age 28. He is a wonderful, intelligent man and has a good job, although he is physically handicapped. Naturally we would like to ee b,im married if only be cause he needs someone to look out for him and we won't be Iround forever. He has some food friends among young mar ried couples of, his own age, but has rarely gone out with single firls. ' We feel that since he seems to b too timid about going out With average girls, he should try to tiud companionship among O handicapped girls. Ther are or ganization in which he could melt them. Many are very nice fnd ht would not have to feel gelf-conecious. Carl D. Considering my own Fhysical imperfections, I suppose hve no right to say this but the) way I feel is that I want an attractive girl, or none at all. O If attractive girls don't want me, I can't say I blame them, but I can't help feeling that love and marriage would be imos ibla tor me without such a girl. 1 wii not born handicapped and have no congenital defects, ao it does seem to me a little unfair that I should have to seek O wife among unfortunates like myaelf. My parents let their anxiety for me run away with them. Actually, I am well able to take car of myself. I have many help ful friends and with money you can alway. manage to get addi tional help. The Council: Carl and his par ent assume that his main prob lem it his physical handicap, but we have our doubts. Actually many physically handicapped persons marry at tracts members of the opposite 0 sex arid many very good mar riages are made by two handi capped persons. On the other hand, many p physically sound and handsome 0 men and women share Carl's atti tude. They demand physical or G mental perfection in a mate and are prepared to remain single rather than compromise. G Such individuals are really quite self-enclosed and carry a wearisome load of inferiority feelings and a childish sense of resentment "it does seem to me a little unfair that I should have to seek a wife among unfortu nates like myself." If Carl could recognize that his problem is psychological and emotional, rather than physical, Bird-Napper May Land In Big Cage, Police Say Pasadena. Calif. I'Jl Po lice say Nicholas M. Stupin got the bird but that the fowl deed may land the 20-year-old sus pected bird-napper in the big cage. Stupin was booked on sus picion of grand theft, cockatoo after Cocky, a 65-year-old cocka too worth S3 ,000 was stolen from his perch. The suspect was traced through a license number. he would be on the road toward achieving a richer life for him self. If he can give up nursing his resentment against life,' he would find that many possibilities are open to him and he needs only to stretch out his hand to take them. Perhaps it would help Carl to realize that someone needs his love and companionship. She may or may not be a beauty, but that "won't matter very much one Carl is prepared to give love. The Hollywood Scene By VERNON SCOTT United Press Writer p if Hollywood (IP) Television is getting tough with' movie stars who scoff at the new medium, as evidenced this week when Richard Egan was threatened with boycott for attacking TV ad agen cies. Because Egan criticized the electronic me- Vernon Scott dium during a recent four-week tour, the actor's agents have been notified by the Madison Avenue boys that there is a move afoot to blacklist him from future TV casting. "I couldn't care less," the husky actor replied. "Those guys don't know any thing about drama nor enter tainment. They're just a bunch of salesmen. Actor, Not Pitchman "I'm an actor, not a soap pitch man, and I'll be darned if I'll let them push me around so they can jump into the middle of a scene and sell products that half the public doesn't want or need to begin with." A ruggedly handsome guy with an independent attitude, Egan admits his outspoken crit icism of the men who run tele vision may hurt his career. "I'm not afraid of them," he grinned. 'They may kick movies around, but they'll never knock us out of the box. "Big studios like M-G-M are reduced to making commercials for TV the industry that .has al most put pictures out of business. Hollywood's attitude seems to be, 'let's not offend our enemy.' "Look at what TV's done to people like Jackie Gleason and Sid Caesar. They didn't lose their ability. The smart boys on Madi son Avenue said they weren't selling product. So off they went." The intrepid Egan added that TV producers and directors are scared to death of the ad boys. No Underdeveloped Ads "You often find underdevel oped story points in TV drama. But you never see an undevel oped commercial," Egan went on grimly. "The big star of every TV show is the commercial. But they never warn you in advance, or advertise it that way. Commer cials are filmed as high as S50, 000 for 20 seconds of air time." Egan isn't on a sour grapes kick. He's turned down hundreds of video offers, accepting only four. Currently he's being touted for an Academy Award Oscar for his role in "Slaughter on 10th Avenue." "How the devil can you do a dramatic story in 22 minutes?" he asks. "It takes longer than Special Session Set For Bike Citations A special session of municipal court has been set up for child ren issued citations on violation of the bicycle ordinance, accord ing to Municipal Court Judge Noreen Kelly. He said a more rigid enforcement program would get under way within the next few days. The ordinance will be enforced for the safety of the bicycle rid ers, he said.
