Such results combined with a Rice triumph over Baylor and a Mississippi victory over Mis sissippi State on Saturday would just about round out the Jan. 1 bowl pairings by pitting Texas A&M against Mississippi in the Sugar and Navy against Rice in the Cotton. The Rose and Orange bowl pairings have already been determined. Texas A&M, rated the nation's top team until its 7-6 loss to Rice on Nov. 16, will clinch at least Celtics Gun For Record By UNITED PRESS The World Champion Boston Celtics face the New York Knickerbockers tonight in the first of four games that may en able them to set one National Basketball Association record and equal another. The Celtics, riding the crest of a 13-game winning streak need victories over New York tonight and Thursday to equal the league mark of 15 straight at the start of a season held by the 1948 Washington club. If successful, they'll then have a shot at the all-time mark of 17 straight wins during any por tion of a season held by the 1946 Washington team. The Celtics appear to have little to fear from the Knicker bockers who Tuesday night dropped their ninth decision in 14 games when they bowed to the St. Louis Hawks, 120-110. The Detroit Pistons beat the Minneapolis Lakers, 109-91, in the other half of a doubleheader at Madison Square Garden. Problem "There still is no sure preven tive for tuberculosis," he said, "and there is no known cure." People Are Lulled Piszczek said many people are lulled by the fact that the TB death rate has declined from nearly 200 deaths per 100,000 population in 1900 to about 10 per cent in 1956. But he said there has been no appreciable decline in the num ber of new cases reported yearly since 1930. Last year, he said, there were 161,276 cases and 13,810 deaths reported, and the figures for 1957 are expected to be about the same. "Since we still have no cure for TB this means we have an ever-increasing number of vic tims who will need care all their live?," he said. The growth of cities has add ed another headache to the problems of health officials at tempting to stamp out TB. "Tuberculosis is roughly three times as prevalent in the city as in suburban areas and three times as prevalent in the suburbs as in rural areas," Pis zczek said. AH! Assuming the Aggies win, Rice will be on the spot Saturday although the Owls are favored by eight points over a Baylor team that hasn't won a confer ence game this season and is 3-5-1 against all competition. In the event of a Rice victory, the Aggies would have to settle for a Sugar bowl bid with Rice winning the honor of represent ing the conference in the Cotton bowl. Perfect Season Possible Auburn, ranked third nation ally but ineligible for a bowl bid, can round out a perfect season by beating Alabama on Saturday and the defense-minded Tigers are rated 14-point favor ites to make it. Mississippi, 5-0-0 in the South eastern conference and 8-1 over all, is a four-point pick over Mis sissippi State which has a 4-2 conference mark and a 6-2 slate overall. San Quentin authorities were under court orders today to release the manuscript of convict-author Caryl Chessman's fourth book, "The Kid Was a Killer." Superior Judge Walter R. Evans issued the order Tuesday, commenting that a refusal to do so might prolong the Chessman case for "another decade." Besides, Judge Evans said, failure to do so would deprive the 37-year-old death row author of due process of law. Chessman argues he needs revenue from sale of the book to finance his fight to .avoid the gas chamber. Chessman was convicted of 17 counts of robbery, burglary, kidnaping and sex offenses in 1948. He was sentenced to death, under California's "Little Lind bergh" law. He has avoided death In San Quentin's gas chamber for near ly 10 years by a series of legal maneuvers made possible by the sale of the best selling novels, "Cell 2455 Death Row" and "Trial By Ordeal." Judge Evans' ruling on the impounded book came in the midst of hearing on the 1,821 page transcript of the 1948 trial, which Chessman claims was fraudulently prepared after the death of the original court reporter in the case.
