Group to Begin Fall Rehearsals Richard D. Werner of the Philharmonic Society of South ern Oregon, announces that the society's orchestra will begin the fall rehearsal schedule Wednesday, September 11. Re hearsals will be held this season in the Jackson school gymna sium Wednesday nights at 7:30 o'clock. Mr. Werner, who directs the orchestra, states that three con certs will be given this season. All musicians of southern Ore gon are invited to play with the group, and the director states that he is particularly in need of string players. j'Hola! Thursday, September 12 when an estimated crowd of 900 Epis copalians and their families turn out for a Loyalty Dinner, it was announced today by Frank Bash, general chairman. A hot and cold smorgasbord will be served at 7 p.m., to be follow ed by a short program. Reservations for the dinner should be made by Monday noon by calling the church office, SP 3-3111. Both the Rev. George R. V. Bolster, rector of St. Marks church, and the Rt. Rev. Ben jamin D. Dagwell, bishop of the . diocese, will be present. This year marks the 25th an niversary of Mr. Bolster's ordin ation to the priesthood, and also Mr. and Mrs. Bolster's 25th wedding anniversary. Committee chairmen for the dinner include Col. C. E. Staf ford, arrangements; Mrs. Mar garet Miles, calling committee; Mrs. H. C. Goldsmith, dinner committee; C. Elwood Hedberg, greeters; and Mrs. Edward P. Barnett, hostesses. Mrs. Norman Allan Newton (Bruno photo) Couple Wed Friday in Portland Miss Shari Lorelle Grivas, formerly of Medford and now of Portland, became the bride of Norman Allan Newton of Oregon City in a ceremony held Friday, September 6, at the Patton Central Methodist church in Portland. The Rev. R. Park Anderson officiated at the seven-thirty o'clock evening candle light ceremony attended by 100 relatives and friends. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. Elaina A. Grivas of Port land and James N. Grivas, Sis ters, Ore. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Berreth. The bride is a graduate of Medford High school. The bridegroom .attended The Dal les schools and is a student at Oregon State college, Corvallis, where the couple will live. For her wedding the bride wore a full length gown of lace and net fashioned with tiered skirt of Alencon lace and net terminating in a chapel train. They wore pale pink crystallette frocks over taffeta. Miss Pike wore white accessories and car ried pink and white fuchsias while the other attendants were in all pink. Mrs. Charles Con ley, sister of the bridegroom, was candlelighter and little Re na Conley was flower girl. William Ketchum Jr. served as best man while Jerry Britton of4The Dalles and Dwain Knut son seated the guests. Following the wedding a re ception was held at the church. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Grivas wore a pale blue frock with pink accessories. Mrs. Berreth chose a cocoa brown dress with brown accessories. 4 Hostesses Honor Two Brides-Elect; Rites Set Today Miss Nancy Walstead, bride elect of Cpl. Richard Clayton An derson, United States Marine corps, has been honored at two recent parties. The Anderson Walstead marriage ceremony is set for this afternoon at First Methodist church. Mrs. Gary Safley was hostess for a kitchen shower honoring Miss Walstead, entertaining at the home of her father, Robert Van Sickle, 53 Myers court. Guests were Mrs. Robert Ander son, mother of Corporal Ander son, Mrs. Scott Watson, grand mother of the bride-to-be, and Mrs. Howard Stoll, her mother; Miss Slyvia Teeter, Mrs. Harold Clement, Miss Janet Jamison, Miss Maralee Chisholm, Miss Jean Taber, Miss Vicki Robert son, Miss Molly Walker. Also entertaining for the bride elect were Mrs. L. Paul Walker and her daughter, Miss Molly Walker. Guests were invited to the Walker home, 2132 Dellwood avenue. Decorations were yel low blossoms and the gift table was covered with white net over purple and topped with an ar rangement of purple and white petunias. Mrs. Walker and her daughter also recently entertained in hon or of Miss Carol Lewis, whose wedding to J. Bradley Morris took place yesterday afternoon at First Presbyterian church. Co hostess was Miss Honor Stans bury. Decorations for the party were pink, with pink rosebuds and a tall bride's doll centering the refreshment table. Fifteen guests attended. Miss Walstead is both a brides maid and a bride this week end, since she was an attendant for Miss Lewis yesterday. Miss Walker was an attendant for Miss Lewis, and will be in Miss Walstead's wedding this afternoon. Topic Announced For Republicans "Significane of the special ses sion of the Oregon state legis lature of 1957" has been an nounced as the subject of State Senator Philip Lowry when he speaks at the first fall meeting of Jackson County Republican Women's club on Monday, Sep tember 16, at Rogue Valley Country club. Mrs. Wayne Stine, president, will conduct the noon luncheon meeting. Men of the area are invited to attend, and members of the organization are asked to bring guests to this meeting. Sunday, September 8, 1957 MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE THREE John Holmes, son of Governor Robert Holmes and Mrs. Holmes, was among the guests who attended the awards dinner Monday evening which brought the annual southern Oregon golf tournament of Rogue Valley Country club to a close. His dinner companion was Miss Elaine Porritt, Eugene, who was runner-up in lha women's division of the tournament. Both young people are sophomores at the University of Oregon. Miss Porritt wore a pink and white cotton frock with large while earrings and a small bow in her short hair. Past Noble Grands Announce Meeting Past Noble Grands club of Olive Rebekah lodge will meet Thursday, September 12, at 8 p.m. in the Girls Community club, 229 North Bartlett avenue. Mrs. Dollie Love, president, will preside at the meeting and all visitors in Medford of other Past Noble Grand clubs are In vited to attend.
