Dorii D. My brother is bachelor, close to 40, and I think it is high time he took the plunge. If only he would listen to my advice! About 15 years ago he had a brief romance with a very good friend of mine. I was sure they would marry, but at the last mo ment a regular Don Juan walked into the picture and swept her otl her feet. Donald was so heartbroken he wouldn't even look at another girl for years I have corresponded through the years with the girl who walked out on Donald. I never blamed Stella because I felt she was the victim of a very un scrupulous man. Well, it's taken her 15 years to find out about him. Now she tells me they have separated. I felt there was a hint in Jier letter that she could still be interested in Donald. I think he should plan a visit to her city and revive those old embers. Donald F The idea Stella could still be interested in me is just plain ridiculous. If I couldn't charm her 15 years ago, how can I do it when I'm bald. fat and none too successful either. - Stella now has three children. but she is still a beautiful wom an. I know because I've seen her picture. She doesn't need me, My sister is kind enough to think I am sort of a prize any woman ought to be gratul to have. But I'm afraid shs the one woman in the world who has this idea. If I confronted Stella now, she would turn me down on sight. ine way i lOOK at It, a guy wno remains a bachelor until 40 is pretty much set for life. Doris is just creating an embarrassing situation for all of us by bring ing up my name to Steila, as I know she has done. If Stella wanted to see me, she knows where to reach me. The whole thing Is silly. '. The Council! We can't go along with Donald that "the whole thing is silly." Only some of it is silly. . The silliest thing Is the atti tude of both Doris and Donald that Stella, an ancient flame, the mother of three children, and a woman not even legally free to marry, is Donald's one hope out of his bachelorhood. Donald de nies there is even this hope, but he reveals that he requires only DON'T LET ARTHRITIC RHEUMATIC PAIN RUIN YOUR HFi! Tri-rVi no nd to mifffr jrm CAN ft lief QUICKLY ith AR-PAN-EX. Another silly thing is Donald's feeling that because he is bald, fat, 40 and none too successful, he wouldn't be "a prize" for some woman and a nice one at that. From his statement we'd guess Donald's one really seri ous fault is his utter lack of con fidence in himself even worse his positive disparagement of himself. Donald should recognize we are all, in a sense, salesmen of ourselves. Nobody wants what the salesman says is no good. Donald should take a eoori nh- jecuve looK at himself Airl from the fact he is probably not as bald, as fat and as unsuccess ful as he tells himself, he very likely has fine qualities, gen erous impulses, interesting thoughts and a canacitv for Wo These alone would make some woman grateful to have him. Officer Finds Cat; Disturbs Bee St. Louis, Mo. (W Hu mane officer Lonzo Roberts got his lumps searched for a missing cat. Roberts search Thursday took him to a water-filled quarry where he painstakingly lowered himself to a ledge 150 feet above the water. While poking about he dis turbed a bee hive and was stung four times before he could re treat. But his efforts appeared re warded hen he spotted a cat on the other side of the quarry on a ledge. Shedding his clothes, Roberts swam across, and floated the cat to safety on a log. He returned with his prize, only to find out it was the wrong cat. The dead man was 53-year-old John Solokowski, of Jersey City, who was milling charcoal on the third floor of the Walter C. Gregory Corp., building when the blast occurred. Acting Fire Chief Jules Res slard said an "accumulation of dust" around the milling appa ratus touched off the blast, which ignited a three-alarm fire that raged for an hour before it was controlled.
