The Family
Dorii i D My brother should
revive those old embers.
Donald F. She would turn
me down on sight.
Dorii D. My brother is
bachelor, close to 40, and I think
it is high time he took the
plunge. If only he would listen
to my advice!
About 15 years ago he had a
brief romance with a very good
friend of mine. I was sure they
would marry, but at the last mo
ment a regular Don Juan walked
into the picture and swept her
otl her feet. Donald was so
heartbroken he wouldn't even
look at another girl for years
I have corresponded through
the years with the girl who
walked out on Donald. I never
blamed Stella because I felt she
was the victim of a very un
scrupulous man. Well, it's taken
her 15 years to find out about
him. Now she tells me they have
separated. I felt there was a hint
in Jier letter that she could still
be interested in Donald. I think
he should plan a visit to her city
and revive those old embers.
Donald F The idea Stella
could still be interested in me is
just plain ridiculous. If I
couldn't charm her 15 years ago,
how can I do it when I'm bald.

either. -
Stella now has three children.
but she is still a beautiful wom
an. I know because I've seen her
picture. She doesn't need me,
My sister is kind enough to
think I am sort of a prize any
woman ought to be gratul to
have. But I'm afraid shs the
one woman in the world who
has this idea. If I confronted
Stella now, she would turn me
down on sight.
ine way i lOOK at It, a guy

is pretty much set for life. Doris
is just creating an embarrassing
situation for all of us by bring
ing up my name to Steila, as I
know she has done. If Stella
wanted to see me, she knows
where to reach me. The whole
thing Is silly.
'.
The Council! We can't go
along with Donald that "the
whole thing is silly." Only some
of it is silly. .
The silliest thing Is the atti
tude of both Doris and Donald
that Stella, an ancient flame, the
mother of three children, and a
woman not even legally free to
marry, is Donald's one hope out
of his bachelorhood. Donald de
nies there is even this hope, but
he reveals that he requires only

a little morale boosting to go
nying on to Stella and throw
himself at her feet.
Another silly thing is Donald's
feeling that because he is bald,
fat, 40 and none too successful,
he wouldn't be "a prize" for
some woman and a nice one at
that. From his statement we'd
guess Donald's one really seri
ous fault is his utter lack of con
fidence in himself even worse
his positive disparagement of
himself.
Donald should recognize we

the salesman says is no good.

Coal-Dust Explosion
Kills One Workman
Jersey City, N.J. in A coal
dust 'explosion ripped through a
spice-milling factory Thursday,
killing one man and injuring 15
other persons.
The dead man was 53-year-old
John Solokowski, of Jersey
City, who was milling charcoal
on the third floor of the Walter
C. Gregory Corp., building when
the blast occurred.
Acting Fire Chief Jules Res
slard said an "accumulation of
dust" around the milling appa
ratus touched off the blast,
which ignited a three-alarm fire
that raged for an hour before it
was controlled.
More farmers lose their lives
