a. , .Mr. and Mrs. Ray Walleres Dahl (Classic Studio) Cave Junction Couple Married Cave Junction Miss Joyce LaVonne Hubbard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Hubbard and Clint Nicholas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alva Nicholas, were mar ried Friday, May 3, in a simple ceremony read by the Rev. Jeff Prosise at his home in Grants Pass at 4 o'clock. The bride groom is an airman first class in the United States Air Force. Attending the couple at the ingle ring services were their parents, all of Cave Junction. A blue linen suit with white accessories was chosen by the bride for her wedding. For trav eling the new Mrs. Nicholas wore a light green shantung sheath dress. After a short honeymoon to the coast, the bridegroom left for Larson Air ' Force base in Washington. The bride will live in Cave Junction until she grad uates from Illinois Valley High school May 29. Lively Rogues The last Lively Rogue's dinner-dance of the current season will be the annual sports dance to be held at Rogue Valley Coun try club Friday, May 17, at 7:30 p.m., The committee has announced there will be a prize given to the man wearing the '"loudest" sport shirt. Host couples for this event will be Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Blew and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Note. Shower Is Given Monday Evening For Bride-Elect A surprise shower honoring Mrs. Margret Hadley, bride-elect of Delbert Crumpacker, was held Monday, May 6, at the home of Mrs. Clyde Minger of 781 Marshall avenue, Medford. The wedding is scheduled for Friday, May 17. Guests attending the shower were Miss Carol Bailey, Miss Nancy Whitlock, Miss Alta Lind sey, Miss Peggyann Hutchinson, Miss Rosalie Boley, Miss Mavis Peters, Mrs. May Brown, Mrs. Ned Coverdale, Mrs. Gerald Latham, Mrs.- Bren Starcher, Mrs. Lillian Barnes, Mrs. Victor Lehman, Mrs. Martha Crump acker, and Mary Hadley, small daughter of the honored guest. Games were played followed by the opening of gifts. Golden Wedding To Be Observed Gold Hill Open house will be held Sunday, May 19,' at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mercer of 917 Second avenue, Old Highway 99, Gold Hill, hon oring the golden wedding anni versary of Mr. Merser's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Mercer now of Crescent City, Calif. The event will be held be tween 2 and 5 o'clock and friends are invited to call. The Mercers lived in Medford for many years while Mr. Mer cer was mill super in tendant of Timber Products. Home Rites Wed Couple Central Point Miss Marlene Fay Burelson became the bride of Ray Walleres Dahl in a cere mony held April 17 in the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald E. Burelson, 45 South Fifth street. The Rev. Norman K. Tully of Central Point Presbyterian church offi ciated. The bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Richard W Dahl, Barnett road, Medford. The bride's gown was of Chan- tilly lace and net, ballerina length, with bodice and front panel of lace and a bouffant net skirt over taffeta and nylon chif fon. It was designed by her mother. She carried peony tulips. Miss Maria Abbott, honor at tendant, wore a frock of pink net over pink taffeta and car ried pink tulips and hyacinths. The candlelighters, Miss Sherri Lynn Burelson, sister of the bride, and Miss Tari Lee Mar tin, a cousin, also wore frocks of pink. Mr. Burelson gave his daugh ter In marriage, and David Dahl was best man for his brother. Mrs. Gordon Mekvold played the wedding music and Lary and Gary Smith sang. Serving and assisting with the reception were Mrs. Gordon Tid well, Mrs. Larry South and Mrs. C. W. Abbott. Mr. and Mrs. Dahl traveled to San Francisco for their honey moon, the bride wearing a blue suit with red and white candy striped blouse and cummerbund and red and blue accessories. The bride attended Crater High school and the bridegroom Phoenix High school. He is now serving with the United States Air Force. Among the wedding guests were, Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Burel son, grandparents of the bride from Minneapolis, Minn., and Mr. and Mrs. Falkenhagen, grandparents of the bridegroom from North Dakota. ir 5 it h - i ll Couple Observes 50th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Warren of 218 South Ivy street, Medford, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, May 5, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Warren in Eugene. He is their only child. Mr. and Mrs. Warren were married May 5, 1907, at Banks, Ore., and lived at Madras be fore moving to Medford 11 years ago. The couple has two grand sons, James W. Warren, Oregon State college student, and Wil liam K. Warren, US Army, Fort Ord. Calif. Attending the anniversary dinner were Air. and Mrs. Oren T. Cosper of Portland (Mrs. War ren's brother), Mrs. William Wil ling of Portland (Mrs. Warren's sister), Mrs. James Arthur of Bremerton,' Wash., daughter of Mrs. Willing, Mr; and Mrs. Wil lis Warren, James Warren, and Miss JoAnn Austen. Other fri ends called during the afternoon. Miss Marjorie Potter Couple to Marry In Autumn Rites Mr. and Mrs. Frank Potter of 260 Wimer street, Ashland, an nounce the engagement of their daughter, Marjorie Kay, to Vaughn W. Clark, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Clark of Route 1, Box 458, Medford. Miss Potter is a student at Ash land High school and is schedul ed to be graduated this month. Mr. Clark is a graduate of Med ford High school and is employed at the Sierra Cascade Pine Com pany. A fall wedding is planned. Gardeners Plan District Session Members of clubs in the Sis kiyou district, Oregon Federa tion of Garden clubs, will hold the spring meeting Tuesday, May 14 at Jacksonville Com munity hall. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. with Jackson ville Garden club as host, and at C:45 a.m. the business meeting will begin. Among the guests will be Mrs. - Milton Winters, Salem, state president and other state officers. Planned for the afternoon program will be an illustrated discussion on lilies by B. C. Kline; also, members may take a tour of the Jacksonville Mu seum. A special feature of the meet ing is to be a display of horticul tural specimens, and members and clubs are invited to bring entries; containers will be furnished. Artists to Hold Ashland Exhibit A public art exhibit sponsor ed by the Southern Oregon So ciety of Artists will be held at the Women's Civic club in Ash land Sunday, May 19, from 12 noon until 7 p.m. Each member of the Society will have one picture displayed which has been selected by a committee of three of the mem bers. Following the exhibit mem bers of the Society will attend a dinner at the Elk's club in Ashland. Medford Couple Engaged to Wed Mr. and Mrs. Homer B. Steph enson, 2535 Tennessee drive, Medford, announce the engage ment of their daughter, Susan Christene, to Charles J. Svitak, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Kauf man of 511 Kenwood avenue, Medford. Miss Stephenson is a student at Crater High school. Mr. Svitak is an airman first class in the United States Air Force stationed at Castle Air Force Base, Calif. He is a graduate of Medford High school. No date has been set for the wedding. Wendell Clausen To Visit Europe Dr. Wendell Clausen, formerly of this city and now associate professor in the department of classics of Amhersfr college, Am herst, Mass., will spend the sum mer in Europe doing research for a book. Dr. Clausen has been invited to visit Oxford university in England, and will later go to France, Italy and Greece to study manuscripts and other material. About two years ago Amherst college sent Dr. Clausen to Eur ope to gather material for a book, "Critical Essays on the Satirical Poems of Perseus", and it was published last fall. Upon his re turn in the fall, Dr. Clausen will take leave of absence from Am herst in order to serve as a visit ing lecturer at Harvard univer sity in the classics for one se mester. Dr. Caulsen is a brother of Mrs. Dan Hull, 1505 Wilson place, Medford. and a son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Griffin, formerly of Medford and now of Grants Pass. Dr. Clausen, his wife and two small sons reside in Amherst. Mausts to Mark Golden Wedding Mr. and Mrs. O. Clifton Maust will hold open house Sunday, May 19, in observance of their golden wedding anniversary. Friends are invited to call at their home, 5465 Pacific High way south, between the hours of two and five -o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. Maust have lived in Jackson county since 1919 and for many years have been superintendents of Jackson County Farm Home. They have announced their retirement for July 1. Mrs. Maust is a past matron of Alpha chapter, Order of East ern Star, Ashland, and is a for mer grand representative to Canada for the order. Mr. Maust is the present worshipful mas ter of Ashland Masonic lodge. Mother Here Mrs. Harriet Ashton of Spo kane is visiting her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Ashton, 54 South Keene Way drive. Mrs. Ashton expects to be with her family during the month of May and June. She will return to Spokane with her son by way of Portland and Se attle where she will visit with her grandsons and see her new great-grandson for the first time.
