The road will be developed about 2,000 feet west of the main air terminal and run north to the Medford Air service buildings, north of the airport road. The new road, to be about 500 feet long, will provide direct access to Medford Air service buildings and other airport 'fa cilities. City Manager Robert Duff said the new road would prevent vehicles from encroach ing on the taxi ways. Duff noted that vehicles and foot traffic have intruded on pri vate taxiways because of the lack of a direct road. This situa tion has created a safety hazard, he said. The new road also would make possible private hangar development in that vi cinity, he added. Cost of the development of an access road to extend easterly and westerly near the southern boundary of the airport will be $2,450, Duff said. The access road will connect with the air port road near Biddle rd. Councilman Donald Hansen suggested that perhaps funds for the road could be better utilized for airport landscaping. Duff pointed out there was sufficient funds in the airport budget to cover landscaping as well as an L access road. Funds for the access road will come from the airport reconstruction fund. In other council action an ex tenesion of time was granted Sears Roebuck and company, Medford, in dedication of 10th st. between Central and River side aves.
