FOUR MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Sunday, January 13, 1957 Pinniger-Knutsort Rites Take Place In Sacred Heart Miss Patricia Grace Pinniger became the bride of Emil Con rad Knutson in a ceremony held tz Friday. December 28. at Sacred i Heart Catholic church. The Rev. John Ilg officiated at the o'clock afternoon service. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry B. Pinniger, 216 West Main street, Medford. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Knutson, 1030 Stew art avenue, Medford. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a sheath dress of white embroidered sat in and carried white rosebuds. Miss Marian Gillett, Roseburg attended the bride. George Knutson, brother of the bride, served as best man. Richard and Aundre Knutson, also brothers of the bride, seated the guests. Bruno Pellegrini played the traditional wedding music. Following the wedding a re ception was given at the Thur ston School of Dancing by Mrs. Harry G. Pinniger, grandmother of the bride. The newlyweds are now at home at 27 Lewis avenue, Med ford, after a wedding trip to southern California. The bride attended Grants Pass High school and Willamette university. She is employed by Andy's Jewelers. Mr. Knutson attended St. Mary's High school and is employed by Electrical Products of Oregon. Panel Discussion Delta Kappa Gamma, educa tional society for women, will meet Saturday, January 19, at the home of Mrs. Bert Stancliffe, Phoenix, at 2 p.m. A panel. Unit ing Women Educators of the World in Spiritual Fellowship, is planned. S. Van Valken urgh of Portland, Department of Oregon, and Mrs. Don Ander son, president of the Department of Oregon, United Spanih war Veterans, will be the installing officers at the installation of officers of Col. Sargent Camp and auxiliary Sunday, January 20 at 1 p.m. at Redman hall. Mrs. Anderson will be assisted by the drill or color team from Rogue River auxiliary 12, Grants Pass. Mrs. James Cech, president will preside at the business meeting and initiation before the installation. Mrs. Bertha Nelson will be the new president. A dinner will be served. Mrs. Josephine Widner is the dinner chairman and the members are asked to take a hot dish, salads, or pies. Eagle Point PTA To Meet Wednesday Eagle Point The January meeting of Eagle Point High School Parent-Teacher associa tion will be held Wednesday, January 16, at 8 p.m., in the high school library. Victory Hay's physics class will present a class room demon stration in keeping with this year's program theme, "Parent Education." Musical selections under di rection of Charles Martin will be a part of the program. Gladamson Unit Plant Breakfast A meeting of Gladamson unit of Wesleyan Service guild will be held Tuesday, January 15, at 7:30 p.m., at the home of Mrs. Alva Perkins,! 2322 East Main street. This will be the first meet ing of the year for the group Officers have announced that January has been designated Guild month. A program will be conducted, and plans will be formed for members to attend a communion breakfast for guild members to be held January 20. Couple Wed In California ' Home Rites Mrs. Mary Jane Pennington, formerly of Medford and now making her home in Ashland, became the bride of Donn Dar- rell Nagler, Marysville, Calif., in a ceremony held in Marys ville Friday, December 28. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Brenenstul, Thousand Oaks, Calif. The bride groom is a son of Mrs. John W. Burns, Marysville, and N. L. Nagler, formerly of Rogue River now living in Beverly Hills, Calif. Judge Warren Steel officiated at the five o'clock afternoon ceremony held in the Marysville home of Mrs. Burns. The bride wore a white waltz length frock fashioned with jer sey bodice and matching bro cade skirt. She wore a purple orchid corsage. Miss Judith Pennington serv ed as her mother's attendant She wore a pink waltz length dress styled with shawl collar Her corsage was of Cecil Brue- ner roses with small blue flow- 6 Gem Naeler. served as best man for his brother. Thp newlvweds dan to leave Ashland the latter part of this week for Marysville, where tney will make their home. The bride attended San Fran cisco State college and was em ployed by Fir Muling and Fian ing company as a secretary in AehlanH and West Coast Lum berman's association in Medford. Mr. Nagler attended Menlo Jun ior college and is employed as a salesman for Shell Oil Prod ucts in Marysville. Mineral Club Installs Officers The January meeting of the Rnw Ann Gem and Mineral club was opened by an instal lation of the 1307 oliicers Dy Delmar Smith. After a short business meeting Dr. Paul Olson, program chair man, presented the four past presidents of the club with the "handle of the gavel" in appre ciation of their services. A mystery box has the mem bers guessing as to its contents. No one guessed correctly at this meeting and must wait until the February meeting before trying again. An exhibit of garnets was dis cussed and other rocks displayed by the members. The exhibit of the month at the U.S. National Bank is by L. A. For her wedding the bride Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lee Schleigh , (Landis-Shangle photo) Boyd-Schleigh Ceremony At Apostolic Faith Church Sams Valley Ladies To Meet Thursday The Sams Valley Ladies club will meet, Thursday, January 17, at 1:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Milton Sanderson. Mrs. Dale Schultz will have charge of the program. The club met January 3 at the home of Mrs. Schultz for a thank you party for last year's Sams Squaws. The new president, Mrs. Schultz, appointed Mrs. Earl Big ham and Mrs. William Gregory as the sunshine committee for the coming year, and Mrs. Mil ton Sanderson as reporter. Neighbors of Woodcraft Medford Neighbors of Wood craft will meet Monday, January 14, at 8 p.m. at the Moose hall, 11 Newton street. Miss Vinnie Esther Boyd daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest V. Hurt, 305 East Jackson street, became the bride of Richard Lee Schleigh, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Schleigh, Route 3, Box 213, Medford, in a ceremony held Saturday,' December 29, in the Apostolic Faith church. The Rev. Loyce Carver offici ated at the ceremony attended by 120 relatives and friends. Baskets of poinsettias and white stock decorated the church for the 7 o'clock evening service. The bride, given in marriage by her brother, Ted Robert Boyd of San Francisco, wore a balle rina length dress of handclipped lace over satin styled with fitted bodice and bouffant skirt. She carried a white orchid and stock on a white Bible and wore a white gold wrist watch, an en gagement present from the bridegroom. Mrs. Henry Hoggard served as her sister's honor attendant and Miss Charlotte Lambert, Roseburg, was bridesmaid. They wore dresses of sapphire crystal line and carried bouquets of white carnations. Candlelighters were Miss Susan Hurt and Miss Rosemary Schleigh. Their dress es were of green crystalline. Lit- tale Christine Friesen flower girl, wore a red crystalline frock and carried a basket of flowers. Don Andrews, Portland, serv ed as best man and Henry Hog gard, cousin of the bridegroom, and Jerry McCollum, seated the guests. Miss Mary Hoover, friend of the bride, came from Lewis and Clark college in Portland to play the traditional organ wedding music. Mrs. Ted Boyd and Lawrence Schleigh, uncle of the bridegroom, were soloists. Following the ceremony a re ception was held at the church. Miss Margaret Lambert and Mrs. McCollum cut and served the tiered wedding cake and Mrs. Don Bergman, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Carolyn Breazeale, served the punch. Al so assisting were Mrs. w. E Allen and Mrs. Clifford Iverson, For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Boyd chose a rose knit suit with brown accessories. Mrs Schleigh wore a red dress with black accessories. They both wore gardenia corsages. For her traveling attire the bride wore a white knit suit with blue velvet coat and the white orchid from her bridal bouquet After a weddingtrip to the Call fornia and Oregon, coast they are making their home in Med ford. The bride is a graduate of Medford High school and is a telephone operator for Pacific Telephone and Telegraph com pany. Mr. Schleigh is also a graduate of Medford High school and is employed by Standard Oil of California in Medford. Janu ary 20 he will report for duty in the United States Army at Fort Ord, Calif. Training Session Planned Thursday A training session for pledges of Beta Upsilon chapter, Beta Sigma Phi sorority will, be con ducted Thursday, January 17, at 8 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Wayne Harris, 1516 South Ivy street, vice-president of the chapter. Mrs. Carl Christenson was hostess to . the chapter January 8. It was announced at the ex ecutive board will draw new by-laws for the group and pre sent them at a chapter meeting The group and present them at chapter meeting. The group will then vote on them. Committee members recently appointed by the president are Mrs. Marsh Ramsby, ways and means cochairman; Mrs. Ray Bostwick, service cochairman; Mrs. DeVon Wray, scrapbook chairman; Mrs. Larry Horton telephone committee chairman; and Mrs. Richard Knoll, public ity chairman. Mrs. R. L. Palmer was se lected to represent the chapter as "valentine girl," at a formal valentine dance to be held Feb ruary 16. A queen will be elect ed by all members to reign for the dance. Mrs. Harris had charge of the cultural program on the theme, "Our Own Home." Refresh ments were served by the host ess. The next chapter meeting is planned for January 22 at 8 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Bost wick, 120 Vancouver avenue. chose a beige knit dress with black accessories and a golden orchid corsage. Grossman, brother of the bride, served as best man. The newlywed couple are making their home at 1016 Nian tic street, Medford, following a wedding trip to San Francisco. The bride is employed as a first grade teacher at Jackson school in Medford. Wednesday, January 9, the staff at Jackson school honored the bride at a party following a teacner s meeting, rink car nations decorated the serving table and the pink color theme was carried throughout the room. Health Groups To Hold Meetings The bi-monthly meeting of the Jackson county Health associa tion will be held January 18, Friday, at the courthouse audit orium in Medford at 1 p.m. A film on breast cancer will be shown and refreshments will be served by the executive committee. Gold Hill Health unit will meet Tuesday, January 22, at the home of Mrs. Paul Malloy, Gold Hill. Mrs. George Dorman and Mrs. ' .oyd Dusenberry will be hostesses for the dessert luncheon at 1 p.m. Plans will be made for the rummage sale to be held in Med ford at a" later date. Mr. Pitt Rebekahs To Meet Wednesday Central Point A meeting of Mt. Pitt Rebekah lodge will be held Wednesday, January 16, at 8 p.m., in the Central Point Oddfellows hall. Committees for the next term will be appointed by the. new noble grand. Mrs. Harold Wil son, and members who have January birthdays will be hon ored. A miscellaneous shower also is planned for Mrs. Eugene Dunn and will be held at the meeting. Hostess will be Mrs. Roy Bratten. Mrs. Loyd Jones and Mrs. Robert Pfaff.
