Bliss, 1558 Stewart avenue, became the bride of John Thomas Drew Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. John T. Drew, 794 Diamond street, in a ceremony held Friday, De cember 21, in Meeker chapel at the First Methodist church. The Rev. Raymond Balcomb of ficiated at the 8 o'clock evening service. Mrs. Kay Bateman, a sister of the bridegroom, was matron of honor and the bride's broth er, Buddy Bliss, was ring bearer. Mr. Bateman was best man for his brother-in-law and ush ers were Arthur Bateman and Bruce Bateman. Lighting the candles were Sherri Davis and Donna Lue Pfnister. , The bride's lace gown was ballerina length and fashioned with tiered skirt and matching lace jacket. Her veil was of net and she carried red roses and white carnations. Mr. Bliss gave his daughter in marriage. Mrs. Bateman's gown was of red satin and her bouquet match ed the bride's flowers. Candlelighters were also dress ed in red and they wore wrist corsages of white flowers. Red and whits carnations decorated the church. Miss Donna Lue Pfnister sang. More than 50 persons attend ed the rites and the reception which was also held at, the church. Both the bride and bridegroom are Medford High school gradu ates. She was a member of the 1956 class and he was graduated in 1953. The bridegroom is em ployed by Jorgensen's dairy. They are making their home at 1556V4 Stewart avenue, Med ford. Kingsley observed her 90th birthday January 5. and was honored at a party given by her family at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Johnson, Old Stage road. Mrs. Kingsley, native of New York state, has lived in Medford 20 years. Woman Honored By Family on 90th Birthday Mrs. Anna L. Kingsley observ ed her 90th birthday Saturday, January 5, and was honored by friends and relatives. Mrs. Kings ley has lived in southern Oregon for the past 20 years. Relatives gathered at the home of her son- in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Johnson, Old Stage road, Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Kingsley makes her home with the Johnsons. . Mrs. Kingsley has two daugh ters and a son living in southern Oregon, two sons and a daughter in South Dakota, and a son liv ing in Wisconsin. She also has 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Mary Conklin, called from Sioux Falls, S.D. Saturday to congra tulate her mother, and Mrs. Kingsley received more than 50 birthday cards, and the tradition al birthday cake was served. Mrs. Kingsley was born in New York state and moved to South Dakota with her family as a child. She married F. R. Kingsley in that state, and has been widowed for many years. The junior jast honored queen was presented with a bouquet of American beauty roses and an honored queen doll, whose min iature robe and crown were fashioned by her mother, Mrs. Robert Rausch. Honored Queen Lynda intro duced her mother, Mrs. Don Zim merman, and presented her with a carnation corsage. Installing officers were also presented car nation corsages by Queen Lynda before the ceremony. Installed at an event after the services, was junior past honor ed queen Ronnine Rausch, who will fill the office of muscian for the coming term. Refreshments were served on tables decorated with gold can dles and garlands of ivy. The white honored queen cake was inscribed in green and yellow frosting with Queen Lynda, 1957. Couple Observes Golden Wedding At Dinner Party Mr. and Mrs. Thomas A. Cul bertson celebrated their golden wedding anniversary December 27. The Culbertsons, who have lived in Medford more than 30 years, were honored at a small dinner party at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Culbertson, Stage Road south. The Culbertsons were married in Pittsburgh, Pa., Mrs. Culbert son being the former Maude Miller. They have four sons, Thomas A. Jr., and Paul, living in Medford, Richard Culbertson in Oakland, Calif., and Emory, who lives in Beverly Hills. Calif. There are four grandsons and one granddaughter. The couple came to Hood River in 1909 from New York City and planted one of the first orchards in Hood River valley in the Parkdale district. Culbertson, who have lived in Med ford since 1920, were honored at a dinner December 27 which observed their golden wedding anniversary. The Culbertsons came west from New York City in 1909 and planted one of the first orchards in the Hood River valley. They live on a ranch north of Medford. (Landis-Shangle photo) Classrooms Near Completion at Lone Pine School Lone Pine New class rooms now under construction at Lone Pine school are to be open for use by mid-February, it was announced at last Tuesday's meeting of Lone Pine Parent Teacher association. Remaining money left from carnival funds is to be used to purchase a piano for the new addition, it also has been an nounced. Originally the funds were to have been applied to ward a football field turf, ac cording to officers. It was announced for the bene fit of members who plan to at tend the next meeting of Jack son County Council of Parent Teachers that it will be held at Trinity Episcopal church parish house across from the post office in Ashland. Hours will be from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. A small fee OFFICERS ELECTED ' Linda Slessler was elected president of the Senior Luther League of Zion Lutheran church at its regular meeting last Sun day. Also elected were Bob Jen sen, vice-president, and Sherry Funk, secretary. Luncheon Wednesday For Past Matrons Central Point Mrs. Mary Note. 32 Hamilton street, newly elected president of the Past Matrons club of Ne.vita chapter. Order of the Eastern Star, will be hostess Wednesday, January 16, at 12:30 p.m., to club mem bers. A luncheon will be served with Mrs. Harold Head as co- hostess. will be charged for child cai-e and mothers are to take a sack lunch and a toy for their child. At the recent meeting a film on safety entitled, "Safety on the Playgrounds," was shown by Mrs. Jack Newton. Alpha Beta Chapter Beta Sigma Phi Plan Work Session Plans were made for a work meeting to be held Tuesday, Jan uary 15, at 1:30 p.m. during the last meeting of the Alpha Beta chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. It will be held at the home of Mrs. Herbert Haglund. At the last meeting held at the home of Mrs. Irving Thomp son, Mrs. Fred Johnson spoke on the history of dress.
