V SIX MZDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUWZ Ministers Review Work of Group During Past Year Methods for Improving the effectiveness of the Ministerial association were discussed by the members at their monthly meet ing Tuesday at St. Mark's Epis copal church. The work done by the associa tion during the past year was reviewed. Discussed were several radio and television programs sponsor ed by the association which in cluded the Ministers' Roundtable broadcast over KMED Sundays at 8:30 p.m.: Daily Devotions on KBES-TV Monday through Fri day from 11:50 a.m. until noon and Morning Devotions aired from 8:35 until 9 a.m. Monday through Friday over KMED. Ministers from Medford, Grants Pass, Ashland, and surrounding communities are included in the ichedule A need was expressed by the group for a hospital chaplain who could notify local ministers when members of their congre gation are hospitalized. Also discussed were the religious serv ices held in the local jails. At the present time several of the churches are conducting services In the county jail. Ministerial duties by the as sociation have already been ar ranged In the county farm home. The program for the next meeting will include a talk by Dr. Hyman J. Appleman. evan gelist, who will be conducting a two-week revival in tne area at one of the local churches. The Ministerial association meets the second Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m. in the Fireplace room at the First Pres byterian church. Palmers Appointed Youth Advisors Mr. and Mrs. Robert Palmer have been appointed new advis ers for the Baptist Youth fellow chip at the Eastwood Baptist church. North Keene Way drive at Ridgeway. Mr. Palmer is a graduate of Lewis and Clark college in Port land and is teaching in the Ash land Junior High school. Mrs. Palmer is a graduate of Linfield college in McMinnville, and was president of the World Wide Guild group in the state during her college days. Mr. and Mrs. Palmer have had previous experience with youth groups, having been ad visers for the Baptist Youth fel lowship at the Arleta Baptist church in Portland prior to com ing to the Medford area. All young people of junior high age who are not presently attending a youth group and who live in the Hedrick Junior High area are invited to come to the meetings of the Eastwood Baptist fellowship every Sunday evening at 6:30. Nazarene Youth To Attend Rally Young people of the First Church of the Nazarene, 520 North Holly st. will attend a Lamplighters Zone Rally at the Klamath Falls First Church of the Nazarene tonight. Activities of the evening will include a gingspiration, film, special songs and testimonies by young people On Saturday morning the young people will meet in the Lakeside church, a new Home Mission church, before going out In teams to do visitation work In the homes of the area to invite residents to attend the services of the new church. The . Rev. R. W. Hum, Medford pas tor, is Zone Youth chirman and Mil direct the rally and visita (ion. At 5 p.m. the Young People's council will have its regularly monthly meeting Bill Brewster, youth president, will lead the council in a discussion of plans for Youth Week which is sched uled to begin Jan. 28. Friendship Ribbons To Appear Sunday At First Methodist Visitors and new members of the First Methodist church will have an opportunity to wear a red ribbon if they attend Sun day services there according to plans being made by the Com mission on Membership of that church. The Friendship Ribbon, small red ribbon attached to the Friendship cards at the church, will be removed by vis itors and new members of the church and pinned on their coat or suit. By this means other members of the congregation will recognize the stranger and can welcome him. The Rev. Mrs. Anne J. The service was held following the Epiphany pageant which told in symbolism the story of the prophecies of olden times and concludes with a symbolic exhortation to all Christians to carry the light of. the gosDel to all peODle. New Hymnbooks To Be Dedicated At both morning worship services of the r irst Fresby terian church Sunday 400 copies of the new hymbook to be used by the church will be dedicated. The hymbook is an expression of the growing unity between several of the churches -of the reformed tradition. It is publish ed jointly by the Presbyterian Church in the U.S. (south), the Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A. (north), the United Pres byterian Church of North Amer ica, and the Reformed Church in America. The evening service for adults and young people will be con ducted by the Rev. John Reyn olds at 7 p.m. in Fellowship hall. After a spontaneous mes sage from the "Surprise Box." the adults will see the second of a series of films on the Bible, "The Bible Spreads Across Europe." The Senior High Westminster fellowship will be led by Relda Jenkins of the Fellowship Com mission. Dr. West will speak to the young people on "Are You Fit To Be Tied?," and a dis cussion on marriage will follow. S. Mark's Church To Hold Elections The annual congregational meeting of St. Mark's Episcopal church will be held in Guild hall at 7:30 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. George R. V. Bolster, rec tor, presiding. Business will include the elec- tion'of four men to replace those retiring in rotation from the church vestry. Those retiring this year are Paul McDuffee, Robert W. Voegtly, Robert S. Rix, and Dr. Malcolm S. Byers. A slate of candidates for the vacancies will be presented by the nominating committee and further names may be placed in nomination from the floor. Dele gates will also be elected to rep resent the parish at the annual diocesan convention. Reports, reviewing the work of the church during 1956. will be presented by the various or ganizations of the parish. The meeting will close with refreshments and all members and friends of St. Mark's are in vited to be present. The newly elected officers, together with the new officers of all parish or ganizations, will be installed in office on Sunday, Feb. 3. SUNDAY SCHOOL Sunday school will be held for the first time at Ascension Lu theran church Sunday at 9:30 a.m. at the Pythian building, Grape and Fifth sts. Nursery will also be available. TtliiT. The filling of the pulpit at the Jacksonville church is part of a program of evangelism conducted by the local men's group. Special Offering At Friends Church The monthly meeting fund offering will be received at the Friends Church Sunday. The congregation hopes by February to have all outstanding bills paid for the moving and re modeling of the parsonage which was completed in December. The building was moved from its former site next to the church edifice on Merriman rd. to a new location at the west end of the church property on De Barr ave. Junior, intermediate and sen ior Christian Endeaver meetings for grade and high school stud ents will be conducted by the young people at 6:30 p.m., with a congregational worship service to follow at 7:30 p.m. There will be music, testimonies, and mes sage by the pastor. "Where Do You Live?" "Quaker Hour" broadcast will be heard over KMED at 9:30 p.m. Central Point Church Starts New Class A new class for young adults, either married or single, will meet for the first time at the Central Point Presbyterian church Sunday, Jan. 13, at 10:55 a.m. Dr. Norman K. Tully, pas tor, will teach the group. Awards for perfect attendance during the fall quarter will be given to more than 50 members of the school. Communion and reception of members will take place during the morning worship service at 9:45 a.m. The church is located at First and Oak sts.. Central Point. Art, Group Topic For Sunday Evening School of ChristiaA Living, with four adult interest groups. will meet at the First Methodist church, Jan. 13, at 5:30 p.m. "Older People in this Society will be the subject for the "Mis sions, U.S.A." led by Miss June Wheaton. Guest artist in the group "Re ligion and the Arts", will be Clifford Platz. This group i led by the Rev. John Taylor. The art of "Splater Painting will be the subject in the Crea tive Activities group, taught by Mrs. Grover Corum. Several churches in the com munity are participating in this Interest group specially plan ned for church school teachers. The fourth interest group is the Membership class, directed by the Rev. Mrs.Anne J. Gorby, minister of membership. A snack supper, to be served by the Methodist men will start at 6:30. Inspiration Time will feature the filmstrip, "One God, Ways We Worship," led by the Rev. G. A. Trobough. Lay Reader at St. Peter's Church Sunday Morning Joseph Jarvis, superintendent of the Sunday school at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran church, will be the lay reader at the Sunday morning service. His topic will be "God s Plea.' The Eagle Point Mission will not have services Sunday, Jan. 13, and Sunday,' Jan. 20. The Rev.
