During the tea hours Mrs. Lester Harris led a get acquaint ed game with a prize being won by Mrs Bohnert.. A' short business meeting was conducted by the president, Mrs. John A. Carter. .The club is planning a rum mage sale in January with pro ceeds to go to the Oregon State College Mothers' club scholar ship fund. All Oregon State Mothers are reminded to save their rummage for this sale. November 18, 1956 i Many Parties Held For Bride-Elect; Wedding Saturday Miss Glcnna James, whose wedding to Arthur E. Symons Jr., of Seattle is set for Novem ber 24 in First Presbyterian church here, has been compli mented at many pre-nuptial par ties. The series of events began in early fall after the wedding date was announced, and con tinued through last week. In early October Miss James and her mother, Mrs. Albert L. James, 1426 Euclid avenue, spent a week in Seattle with Mr. Symons' parents, and Mrs. Sy mons gave a large tea for her future daughtcr-inlaw. Mrs. Ross P. Williams and Mrs. W. Forest Goodfellow were hostesses for a luncheon shower in honor of Miss James, and another luncheon-shower was given in the Mercer Island home of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn N. Rotton. Also entertaining for Miss James some time ago were two of her bridesmaids. Miss Berna dine Thompson of Berkeley. Calif., and Miss Donna Witter. Medford. The evening party was given at the home of Miss Witter's parents, the George Witters, 843 West Second street. Mrs. Dwight H. Findley and Mrs. Kenneth Denman were hostesses for a luncheon and shower October 31. inviting guests to the Findley's home on Old Stage road. Mrs. Herbert L. Roberts, 622 Stewart avenue, gave a shower November 13 for the bride-elect, and last Thursday Mrs. D. Kirk land West was hostess for a luncheon at her home which complimented Miss James. Miss James' attendants for the weddine will be Miss Thompson. Miss Witter, Mrs. Gordon James, her sister-in-law. Miss Carolyn Coleman and a cousin. Miss Diana James, Mo desta. Calif. The Gordon James and the bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur E. Symons. will arrive in Medford Tuesday morning. Ladies tyounted Troop Plans Party Tonight Ladies Mounted Troop is spon soring the weekly potluck square dancing party tonight at 6:30 o'clock. Members of the Jackson coun ty Sheriff's posse. Ladies Mount ed Troop, Medford Trail Riders, Jackson county Junior posse, and Rogue Rangers are invited to attend. Those attending should take a covered dish for dinner. There will be cards for those who do not wish to dance according to Mrs. Mary H. Brown, chairman. To Elect Olive Rebekah lodge will meet Monday, November 19, at 8 p.m. in the Odd Fellows hall. ' rl ' Mr. and Mrs. Evertt William Kastner Jr. (Brainerd Photo) Medford Couple Married Presbyterian First Presbyterian church was the scene of the wedding of Miss Donna Mae Halvorsen to Evertt William Kastner Jr., on Saturday, November 10. Dr. D. Kirkland West officiated at the three o'clock afternoon rites with about 175 guests present. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Halvorsen. 754 Marshall avenue. Medford. and the bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Evertt William Kastner, 215 Willamette avenue. The bride, whose father gave her in marriage, was gowned in Chantilly lace and tulle design ed with a long-sleeved lace bod ice and full skirt with front overskirt of the lace. Her finger tip length veil of tulle was held by a coronet of pearls. Her bri dal bouquet was a cascade of white Amazon lilies with steph anotis. Mrs. Steve Crippen Jr., was matron-of-honor for her sister and the other attendants were Miss Janet Jamison, Miss Joann Jamison. Miss Sally Ross and Mrs. Monte Hoist. Mrs. Crip pen's gown was of turquoise vel veteen with three-quarter length sleeves and pleated skirt. Her headdress was of matching, tur quoise and white net. and she carried white Fuji chrysanthe mums. The other attendants wore gowns of royal blue velveteen designed to match that worn by Mrs. Crippen and their head dresses were of royal blue and white net. They also carried white Fuji chrysanthemus. Alton Stone was best man for the bridegroom and ushers were Jerry Gatline, Jack Gault, Gord son Smith and John Bellack. Mrs. H. E. Marsh was organ ist, and Mrs. Charles P. Champ lin was soloist. Potted palms and baskets of white chrysanthemums with turquoise ribbons decorated the church. Mrs. Ray Adams, aunt of the bride, cut the wedding cake and Mrs. M. O. Walker served the punch. Mrs. Galen Sanner poured cof fee and Miss Eerlene Hart, Ash land, took charge of the guest book. For the wedding and recep tion the bride's mother wore a pink brocade dress with white accessories and a corsage of white rosebuds. The bride groom's mother was attired in a navy blue dress with light blue and white accessories. Her cor sage was of white roses. The bride's traveling attire was a black tweed princess dress worn with winter white hat. The newlyweds made a wed ding trip to Seaside, Ore., and will live in Medford. The bride was graduated from Medford High school with the 1956 class and the bridegroom with the 1955 class. He attended the Uni versity of Oregon last year. Here for the wedding were Mrs. Delbert Cargill. grand mother of the bride from Pen dleton, Ore., Mr. and Mrs. Ray Adams and son. Glenn, Port land, uncle and aunt of the bride: Mr. and Mrs. John Rush. Grants Pass, and Mrs. Jack Moad. Eugene. Before the wedding the bride was honored at a shower given by Mrs. Hoist and Miss Eerlene Hart at the home of Mrs. Glenn Hoist, 1117 Mt. Pitt avenue. STORE Medford Two Musicians Engaged to Wed Mr. and Mrs. Harry E. Brist. 2305 Parrish Street, Cedar Falls, Iowa, announce the engagement of their daughter. Audrey, to Ronald W. Bartlett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willard S. Bartlett, Sa lem. Ore. Miss Brist is a graduate of West Waterloo High school. Waterloo. Iowa, and attended New England Conservatory of Music. Boston. Mass. and the University of Oregon. She is on the faculty of Medford Public schools as orchestra director. Mr. Bartlett, a graduate of Sa lem High school, served two years with the 560th Air Force band. He is a graduate of Wil lamette university and is band director at Hedrick Junior High school. Both young people are mem bers of the orchestra of the Phil harmonic Society of Southern Oregon, and will play in the first fall concert ' set for this afternoon. Miss Brist is first vio linist and concertmistress of the orchestra and her fiance is a clarinetist. No date has been set for the wedding. Medford Student To Sing in Choir Portland Miss Shirley Lynch, junior biology major, is one of 27 fall additions to the a cappella choi, according to L. Stanley Glarum, choir direc tor. The complete choir is com posed of 60 voices. Miss Lynch, first alto, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Lynch, 139 Kenwood avenue. She will appear with the choir in the annual pre-Christmas concert in the college gymnasi um on December 9. Choir plans for this year in clude a tour through western Washington and parts of Brit ish, Columbia, with stops at Victoria and Vancouver,. B.C., and the San Juan Islands. Alpha Phi Plans Tea on Saturday Alpha Phi alumnae will hold the annual tea for collegiate members and pledges and their mother Saturday, November 24, at the home of Mrs. Lucien Har bert, 49 Valleyview drive. Hours will be from three to five o'clock. Miss Rosalie Mole and her mother, Mrs. Richard Mole, will be among the honored guests. Miss Mole has left the Univer sity of Oregon and is to be mar ried to R. D. Van Allen Decem ber 1. Women's Auxiliary Has New Members Four new members were in troduced at the last meeting of the Women's auxiliary, Jackson County Medical society. Ttiey are Mrs. Dwaine Gillum and Mrs. Jack Reynolds, Ashland Mrs. Richard Schwann and Mrs James Wilson, Medford. The meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Edwin R.
