(U.P.: Democrat Frank Church, 32, a political neophyte, piled up a surprising near 40,000 vote majority today to oust Republican Herman Welker from the U. S. Senate. Returns from 744 precincts out of the state's 893 gave Presi dent Eisenhower 139,077 votes to Adlai E. Stevenson's 86.590. Welker conceded his seat to Church at 12:25 a.m. today after the new senator picked up a lead of about 33,000 votes in the three-way race. Former Sen. Glen H. Taylor, who ran as a write-in candidate, conceded earlier. The senate vote, with 744 pre cincts reported, was Welker 86, 485, Church, 121,844; and Tay lor, 8,891. Idaho's two members of Con gress won reelection. Demo cratic Representative Gracie Pfost was leading Republican contender Louise Shadduck, 46, 942 to 39,012, with 307 out of the first District's 401 precincts reporting. Miss Shadduck con- ! ceded. Republican Rep. Hamer Budge led Democrat John Reynolds, 77,714 to 51,794 with 437 out of 492 precincts reporting. Rey nolds conceded. Arizona Gives Ike ' Whopping Majority Phoenix !U.R) Democrat ic Arizona, which has never picked a loser in a presidentfal race, stayed with President Eis enhower Tuesday, giving him a whopping majority over Adlai E. Actor Paul Kelly Dies of Heart Attack Hollywood (U.R) Actor Paul Kelly died of a heart attack today shortly after returning from casting his vote at the polls. The veteran actor's wife. Mar dell, was present at the time of his death, friends reported. la addition to his widow, Kelly is survived by a daughter, Mimi Kelly, of New York. The handsome, jut-jawed actor was 57 years old. Kelly suffered the heart at tack after returning to his Bev erly Hills home from voting. The family doctor was called immediately and he adminis tered a stimulant in a vain at tempt to save Kelly's life. The doctor pronounced him dead at about 2:45 p.m. (PST).
