Richard Jessup officiated at the double rinc ceremony hold in the Assembly of God church in Gold Hill hi 8 p.m. The bride, given in marriage by her uncle, Chris Holder of Central Point, wore a full length gown of white satin which ex tended into a train. Her veil of ret was accented with seed pearls and fell from a flower coronH eased with lace. Miss Claudia Edwards was mai."? of honor. She wore a tiress oL Uivenuci which contrast) d with her bouquet of deep purple gladiolus. Pin His and Nancy McCoy, sisters of the bride, were candle lighters. They wore dresses of green dotted nylon. Donald .lensmi of Santa Cruz served as best man. William Mc Hargue, Joe Johnson of Reno. New, and John and James Mc Coy, brother? of the bride, ushered. Wcddiim music- was played by Mrs. Riciiard Jessup. Joe Bu chanan gave two violin solos, and the Rev. Mr. Jessup and Dwisht Stiles sane;. Following the ceremony a re ception was given by Mrs. Jack White and Mrs Joe Buchanan at the church which was attend ed by th.e more than 100 guests. Mrs. Margaret Strader served the wedding cake while Miss Dollie Governor and Mrs. White presided at the punch bowl. Mrs. Iva May Governor was in charge of the guest book and Miss Lyn Holder was at the gift table. For the wedding Mrs. McCoy and Mrs. Girdner chose blue dresses with white accessories. Their corsages were of white carnations and pink rosebuds. After a short trip north the couple will live in Longview, Texas, where the bridegroom will continue his training at Le Tourneau Technical Institute. The bride attended Canyonville Bible Academy and Central Bible Institute. Out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Dale Girdner, Cornville. Ariz.; Mrs. Jeanette S. McNew. retiring noble grand, was presented a past grand's pin in recognition of his services to the lodge for the past term. The new noble grand named permanent committeemen. Following the ceremonies re freshments were served by a group of future Theta Rho girls under the supervision of Mrs. Vinzant and Mrs. Thomasson. Announcement was again marie of the coming institution of a Theta Rho club on August 4. All girls between the ages of 12 and 21 who are interested are invited to get in touch with Mrs. Jesse Thomasson or Mrs. Riley Applegate. Schmidts Return After Vacation Mrs. Ben Schmidt, South pa cific highway, has returned to Medford after an extended stay in California. Mrs. Schmidt left in early June to attend Alumni Homecoming day of Occidental college in Los Angeles. From there she visited with relatives and friends in other cities. In Hollywood a reunion luncheon was held for her college and sorority friends. Later she was a guest of her daughter. Mrs. W. W. Trask, of San Diego at her summer home in Mission Beach. After Mrs. Schmidt returned to Medford. she and her husband spent a week at Menucha on the Colum bia river at Camp Farthest Out, an interdenominational confer ence where he was reelected chairman of the council for the coming year. After visiting friends in Eu gene and a brief visit to the coast they leturned to their home. Miss Oregon To Be Guest Of Festival ! Ashland Miss Patty Berg, . Miss Oregon of 1956 and the girl yvho would "rather read Shakespeare than anybody," will be the guest of the Oregon Shakespearean Festival associa tion on opening night of the sea- ' son Wednesday, August 1. Miss Berg will share the spot light with Governor Elmo N. Smith and dignitaries from all over the west coast as the Fest- j ival begins its third decade. I The comely miss, interviewed after she won the state beauty contest at Seaside early this week, proclaimed her love of the bard, and it was duly re ported in the press. She was im mediately contacted at her home in Eugene by Bill Dawkins, festi val publicity director. Miss Ore gon said she really did like Shakespeare and would be "rie- j lighted to come" to the festival's opening. Court To Hold Annual Dinner Saturday Night Roxy Ann court. Order of Amaranth, will hold the annual progressive diner Saturday, Aug ust 4. according to Mrs. Ira D. Canfield, royal matron. The first course will be served at the V. A. Turpin residence at 3533 Jacksonville highway at 6:30 p.m. Additional courses will be served at the homes of var ious members of the Order. Members are asked to make reservations with either Mrs. Turpin at 3-1320 or Mrs. Carl Oestreich at 3-3973. Mrs. Canfield, royal matron, was present for the official visit of the grand royal matron and grand royal patron of Oregon to Lincoln court at Newport. She was accompanied by Mr. Canfield, grand sword bearer; Mrs. Charles Hoppe, grand rep resentative to Ohio; Charles Hoppe. grand commissioner; Jack Kennedy, grand associate patron; Mrs. Carl Oestreich, sec retary of Roxy Ann court and and Mrs. Kennedy. Twenty eight of the 30 courts in Oregon were represented at the meeting yvith 34 grand of ficers present. Point. On the evening prior to the wedding the Christ's Ambassa dors at the church gave the couple a farewell party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William McHargue. Approximately 25 friends attended. Huson were co-hostesses at a shower which honored Mrs. Richard Startton, Central Point, Wednesday afternoon, at the Huson home, 45 Lindley street. The rooms were decorated with pastel gladiolus while a large pink and white baby bootie held the gifts. Small in dividual cakes frosted to resem ble children's alphabet blocks were served. Camp, Auxiliary Announce Picnic Colonel Sargent camp and aux iliary, United Spanish War Vet erans, will hold their annual pic nic Sunday, August 5, at 1 p.m. in the Lithia Park in Ashland, Oregon. Members are asked to take a picnic lunch and their own table service. Ice cream will be fur nished. Mrs. Frank Widner and her committee are in charge of arrangements. Klamath Falls and Grants Pass camps and aux iliaries and all Spanish Ameri can War veterans and their fami lies are invited. A report will be given con cerning the recent department convention in Eugene. The de partment president, Mrs. Don Anderson, Medford, will report on her visit to the Washington Alaska department convention held in Seattle. Girls' Group Holds Meeting on Thursday Pythian Sunshine girls held their regular meeting Thursday. Obligation was taken by Bobbie Davidson and a practice was held for her initiation which will be at the next meeting August 8 at 2:30 p.m. Rona Lamp was in charge of the refreshments. Kalisia Miss Kelley Is Wed to John Kaiista Central Point Miss Elaine Mavis Kelley became the bride of John E. Kaiista of Myrtle Creek in a ceremony June 29 at the home of the bride's father. Earl W. Kelley. Central Point, at 6:30 p.m. The Rev. Floyd H. Yeats officiated. Mr. Kaiista is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kaiista. Bridgerville, Calif. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white dress of nylon lace. Its flared skirt was fashioned with a panel of pleated nylon net and bodice of empire midriff design. She carried a white orchid. Matron of honor was Mrs. Ray Kaiista, a cousin of the bride, who wore a pastel green dress of cotton and nylon with match ing bolero. Her corsage was of pink and white carnations. Best man was Ray Kaiista. brother of the bridegroom. Gladiolus and carnations dec orated the fireplace and room where the ceremony was per formed. Following the wedding a re ception was given for the fam ilies of the couple at the bride's home. The tiered wedding cake was served by Mrs. C. V. Klein, sister of the bridegroom. The newlyweds made a wed- Practical Nurses To Hear Talk by Defense Director A program on civil defense will be given at the regular meeting of Jackson County Li censed Practical Nurses associa tion Monday, July 30, at 7:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart hospital. Guest speaker will be Major General H. Hicks, Jackson coun ty director of civil defense, who will speak and show pictures. Following the talk a report will be given on the recent visit of Mrs. Oma Pysher, state presi dent. Nurses and hospital staff are invited to attend.
