By BARBARA MILLER I United Press Correspondent ' Paris u R; Fashion ex 1 perts said today that trends to- ward ankle-length skirts for the 1.956 winter season are only "trial balloons'' to see if style conscious women are ready for a change. "These new iengths will catch on for cocktail wear and dressy suits, but not for everyday ap parel.'' one expert predicted. But many buyers who gather ed here to see what the Parisian designers have to offer this year ; believed the trial balloon will fast become a permanent femin- ine style or as permanent as any style can be. with leading designer Christian Dior lowering hemlines and then pulling them ; up again every 18 months or so. Like Dior and Mme. Jacques Fath. dressmaker Jacques Heim dropped his lines to a low eight ; inches above the ground in his creations shown Friday. Heim called his collection the "sinuous line." Trying to start all his dress names with the let ter S. he had to resort to "stu : pid.'' "strychnine" and "sca ; bieuse'' after running out of I more complimentary names. High waists highlighted h i s long, slim silhouette. Sheaths, suit jackets and coats all had a scooped-up line starting low in back and sweeping up under the bosom. His sinuous line was un derlined in his sheaths by clever ly cut folds or set-in belts, often trimmed by three button plaques. The extra-long sheaths were so sinuous that they restricted normal walking and would prob ably prevent sitting down. But worn for cocktails or formal evenings, neither walking nor sitting down would be essential. Designer Chanel showed a series of cardigan suits, casual dresses and lace princess - style cocktail gowns which neither in fluenced nor were influenced by current trends. Most notable de tails were the brass blazer but tons and gold chain belts which trimmed both suits and dresses. l Sunday, July 29, 1958 The Ozark mountains at no point rise above 2,000 feet in elevation. ; Women of Moose Plan Initiation Women of The Moose held a i business m e e ting Wednesday j night at Moose hall.
