Four Acres Burns Over In Fire Near Corvallis Ccrvallis 0J.P A fire on private land at Starr creek broke out Friday at noon and spread to four acres before being brought under control. They were th members and leaders of Boy Scout Troop 13 who hiked along the forest serv ice trail in Josephine county, following the Rogue river from near Grave creek to Gold Beach. The 18 left the First Presbyter ian church in Medford at 8 a.m. June 23. transported by car into I Josephine county to a point about 15 miles northwest of Grants Pass. They left the cars and hit th trail on Hie north side of Togue river three hours later. They walked the trail, some what damaged by the high river stages and windfalls, camping overnight at improved forest camps. WHERE Woodland Farmers Gross $1,830,511 Salem Farm woodland own ers in the state received a gross income of SI. 830, 511 during the fiscal year ending June 30 from i the sale of forest products through the farm forestry as sistance program, according to Charles H. Ladd, senior farm forester with the state forestry department. Most of the income came from the sale of 63.643,000 board feet of timber, which brought $1, 394.773. Products aside from sawlogs included 6,155 pieces of piling and 22,000 fence posts, hop poles and bean posts, Ladd added. Minor products of the farm woodlands are gaining in im portance, the forester said. Dur ing the year the total income from Christmas trees, floral products, crude drugs, bark and miscellaneous items totaled S52, 052.
