(International) h Suicide Ends- -Utah Murder Case Vernal, Utah (U.R) The Norma Rodeback case was closed today with the suicide of a 23-year-old Vernal service sta tion attendant after he confessed killing the pretty high school girl. Carl Donnell Dow put a rifle bullet through his mouth after trudging onto a desolate hillside west of Vernal, only a few miles from the ditch where two weeks earlier he had dumped the body of his 17-year-old victim. Finding of Dow's body Wednesday climaxed a hectic day that brought Utah's most sensational murder case in re cent years to a quick close. In notes left for his wife, mother of two children and ex pecting a third, and his father, young Dow admitted accosting the Rodeback girl, choking her and disposing of her body on June 13. He denied actually raping ner. Officers questioned him brief . ly Tuesday because his car was similar to one seen where Miss Rodeback was kidnaped. He was to have been questioned again Wednesday but during the night slipped out, took a rifle, drove his car to the hills and walked to the spot where he took his own life. NEEDY BURGLAR BORROWS Columbus, Miss. (U.R) Sher iff Robert Jernigan reported that a burglar who needed an acety lene torch to open the safe of a tractor company here found one on the premises all ready for use and used it. Cypriots Blast UrConsulafe's Car Nicosia, Cyprus (U.R) Cypriot extremists blasted the automobile of an American con solate official today. A 'muffled explosion in the gasoline tank damaged the car owned by consular official Louis la Bauve, 26, New Orleans. La Bauve was not in the car and the explosion caused no casualties. Cyprioit extremists killed an American vice consul 12 -days ago and wounded three others when they threw a bomb inU- a Cypriot restaurant. British security ' forces heard a muffled explosion in la Bauve's car. Investigation showed a vial filled with gunpowder had been fitted with a fuse and dropped down the filler pipe of the gas tank. Train Derailment Case to Grand Jury . Portland (U.R) A 19-year- old Spokane youth accused of attempting to derail a Union Pa cific train, was bound over to the federal grand jury here yes terday. Dale Philip Cornwell is ac cused of placing railroad ties across the railroad's tracks near Boardman on April 11. The City of Portland, passenger train, hit the obstruction but was not derailed. Bail was fixed at $2500.
