TWO MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Miss Morgan Wed To Derwin Voss In Reno Service Jacksonville Miss Gwynn Marie Morgan, home economics teacher in Jacksonville public schools, became the bride of Derwin F. Voss of Central Point in a 4 o'clock afternoon cere mony May 5. The rites were read in the city hall at Reno, Nev. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Morgan, Oelwein, la. The bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. William Voss of Central Point, and he is a main tenance engineer for Oregon Veneer company. The- couple was attended by the bridegroom's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Wil liam Voss of Central Point. The bride wore a grey spring suit and her attendant's suit was black and white. Both had white orchid corsages. The couple is living at Apart ment 8, GeBauer apartments. 38 North Oakdale avenue, Medford. Several parties are planned for the bride in June by college classmates and friends at Oel wein, and a party also is planned in her honor at the 60th wed ding anniversary of her mater nal grandparents to be held in St. Paul. Minn. The bride attended St. Paul schools and Iowa State Teachers college at Cedar Falls, la. The bridegroom attended Glendale high school. Family Arrives For Visit Here Mrs. John MacArthur and two small daughters, Laurie and Anne, arrived in Medford Fri day from New York City to visit Mrs. MacArthur's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Ruhl, 2404 East Main street. Mr. MacArthur will join the family later. Also arriving later this sum mer for a stay with the Ruhls will be another daughter, Mrs. Charles Herbert Simmons, and four children of Mt. Kisco, N.Y. Family Leaves On Mid-West Trip Mr. and Mrs. George Bryant and children, Craig and Diana, 3384 Forest avenue, have left for a two weeks' vacation in Ellsworth, Kan. They will visit Mrs. Bryant's mother and fam ily, Mrs. Louis Mlynar, and will attend graduation exercises for Jack Mlynar. Mrs. Bryant will attend the lumhi festivities and they plan to make stops in Salt Lake City, Denver and other points along the way. 4 Electa Club Electa Social club will meet at Girls Community club at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 25. Dessert will be followed by a social meeting, with Mrs. D. C. The bride is the former Miss Janet Lee Christian. daughter of Mrs. Verne Chris tian of Medford, and the late Mr. Christian. The bridegroom is a son of Mrs. Clay Roberts, Banning, Calif., and the late Delbert Law- rentz. The Rev. Floyd H. Yeats read the ceremony at 7 o'clock in the evening. Mrs. Terry McGriff, a sister of the bride, was the honor at tendant and Mr. McGriff served as best man. The bride wore a wedgwood blue linen suit with white ac cessories and the honor attend ant was dressed in blue, and also had white accessories. Both wore bands of white flowers in their hair. A reception was held after the ceremony at the home of anoth er sister of the bride, Mrs. Cal vin Brilcy. 722 Hartley road, Medford. Mrs. Donald Cullop. Ashland, also a sister of the bride, completed serving the wedding cake after the bridal couple had cut the first slice. The couple made a wedding trip to Crescent City, Calif. The bride until recently was employed at the Groceteria. She attended Montesano, Wash schools ' and Medford high school. The bridegroom is employed by W. G. Werner, brick mason. He attended Oak Grove school and Medford junior and senior high schools. Club Announces Sports Dance To Close Year Lively Rogues, Medford dance club, has set the last dance of the season for Thursday, May 24, at the Ashland Elks club. Dinner will be served at 7:30 o'clock: The last dance is traditionally a sports dress event. Hosts will be Mr. and Mrs. Ed Branchfield . and Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Radzweit. W; Sleeter, who recently returned to Medford from a Caribbean cruise, will speak for a meeting of Chapter AA, PEO, this week. It will be held Wed nesday, May 23, at 12:30 o'clock at Mrs. Collins' home, 1810 East Main street. Assistant hostesses will be Mrs. G. R. Ringo and Mrs. Knute Froysaa. Huson, piano teacher, was held May 14 at First Presbyterian church in the social rooms. About 140 person, including parents and friends of students attended. Lighting candles were Laurie Beth Buonocore, Darelyn Hus on Lois Stedman. The ushers were Sue Donna Doolen, Rose mary; Doolen, Claudia Hoover, Karen Culbertston, Kaye Little, Shirley Hopkins. Republican Tea To Be Monday Final plans have been made for the silver tea which Jackson County Republican Women will hold Monday, May 21, at the home of Mrs. John C. Boyle, Ross lane. Those who need transporta tion should be at the YMCA building at 1:45 pjn. The tea is set for 2 to 4:30 p.m. The event will honor Mrs. Collis Moore,. The bride' is the second daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Edwin R. Durno, 222 Valley View drive, and the bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Trevor Stringer of Christchurch. He is a practicing medical doctor in Christchurch and a fellow in the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Dr. D. Kirkland West, pastor of First Presbyterian church, read the rites at eight o'clock in the evening, Dr. Durno gave his daughter in marriage. The recep tion which followed was at the Durno home. About 200 guests attended both the wedding and reception. The bride wore the gown and veil which first had been worn by her sister, Ann, now Mrs. Richard Hensley of Inglewood, Calif. The white satin gown was designed with long train and the bodice was trimmed with braid, pearls and rhinestones. The veil was imported from Venice, Italy. The bride carried roses and val ley lilies on a white Bible. Miss Kaye Durno was honor attendant for her sister. Mrs Hensley and Mrs. William Berth old Barnum Jr., (Barbara Green) were bridesmatrons. They wore frocks of pink chiffon and lace with circlets of flowers on their hair and carried arm bouquets of white stock. Richard Hensley was best man for Dr. Stringer and ushers were Benjamin J. Trowbridge Jr., Peter Trim, Donald C. Sloan Jr., Portland, and William Berthold Barnum Jr., Eugene. Mrs. Sloan sang for the cer emony, and Mrs. H. E. Marsh was organist. Pouring for the reception were Mrs. Robert Norris, Mrs. Edward P. Vilas, Mrs. Burt L. Lageson, Mrs. Justin Smith and Mrs. Nath aniel B. Bender. Mrs. Peter Trim and Mrs. Robert Gaines cut the wedding cake and Miss Cynthia Jackson, San Francisco, took charge of the guest book. For the wedding and reception the bride's mother wore a gown of light-blue silk with jeweled neckline and bodice and match ing hat and gloves. Her corsage was of white roses. Mrs. Arthur Moir, family friend of Chestnut Hill, Mass., took the place of the bridegroom's mother for the wedding. The bride attended Medford schools and the University of Oregon where she was a member of Delta Gamma sorority. She was graduated as a nurse from Mas sachusetts General hospital in Boston. Dr. Stringer attended Christ college and completed his work for a degree in medicine at the University of New Zea land. He is a veteran of service with the Royal New Zealand Air Force. Later he was a graduate stu dent at Harvard university and Massachusetts General hos pital as a Fulbright scholar and prepared for the fellowship in the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, Scotland. Dr. and Mrs. Stringer are now spending a honeymoon at Yose- mite National park and San Francisco and will leave later by air for New Zealand. En route they will spend some time in the Hawiian and Fiji islands Luncheon, Show Set for Monday At Country Club One of the large events of this week will be the luncheon and fashion show, followed by an afternoon of cards, to be given by Kiwanian Dames Monday, May 21, at 12:30 p.m. at Rogue Valley Country club. Only a few reservations are still available, it is stated, and those wishing to attend are asked to call the club at once. Fashions from Burelson's, Big Y Tot shop and Anticipation shop will be modeled for the show. , Dinner Shrine Ladies plan a potluck dinner Monday, May 21 at the home of Mrs. Raymond Reter, 20 Glen Oak court. Those who attend should take a covered dish for the event and table service. Carolyn Meyers Is Married to David Herburger . Miss Carolyn Daurice Meyers became the bride of David Le one Herburger in a ceremony read at the home of the Rev. Brewster Adams, a retired Bap tist minister, at Reno, Nev., May 12. . Attending from here were the bride's mother, Mrs. C. F. Meyers; Mrs. C. H. Herburger, the bridegroom's mother; Miss Pat Thompson of Rogue River, and the bridegroom's brother and sister, Jackie and Miss Ka therine Herburger, who were at tendants for the couple. The bride wore a pink sheath dress with pink and white acces sories and her flower was a white orchid. Her attendant wore an eggshell colorfed dress and lavender accessories with a gardenia and white carnation corsage. The bride attended Medford high school and worked in San Francisco for the Pacific . Tele phone and Telegraph company until recently. The bridegroom was graduat ed from Rogue River high school and attended Oregon State col lege. He is now employed by Ike Orr Logging company, Medford. A wedding dinner was served at the Mapes hotel Sky Room in Reno and the couple made a wedding trip to Virginia City and other points of interest in Nevada. Couple Wedded In Home Rites Hornbrook A wedding of in terest locally took place Friday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m. at Areata, Calif. Candlelight services per formed by the Rev. Van Allan at the home of the bridegroom's parents wedded Miss Thelma Mae Sloan, one of the twin daughters of Mr. and Mrs. George S. Sloan of Hornbrook, and Sgt. Frank L. Burkhart of the U. S. Marines. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Burkhart of Areata. Their vows were made in the living room at an , improvised altar of white surrounded by baskets of stock, iris, and pink carnations. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Mrs. Fred Moore, sister of the bride, was matron of honor, and serv ing his brother as best man was Charles E. Burkhart. Gerald Moore, nephew of the bride, was candlelighter. A reception for close friends and family followed the cere mony, after which the young couple left for a short honey moon in the Bay area.
