Mrs. Brian Douglas Stringer is the former Miss Jane. Durno, daugh
ter of Dr. and Mrs. Edwin R. Durno, 222 Valley View drive, Medford. .
The1 Stringer-Durno ceremony was held at First Presbyterian church
May 12 and the reception which followed was at the Durno home,
with 200 guests attending. Dr. Stringer and his bride are spending a
honeymoon at San Francisco and Yosemite National park and laer
will fly to their home in New Zealand.

About 130 young people attended a formal banquet at the Jack
son hotel May 12 which was planned for high school juniors and
seniors not attending the annual Prom at Medford High school.
Among the early arrivals at the dance were Miss Esther Jacobs,
student at McLoughlin school, and her escort. Dale Clemens, senior at
Medford High school. They were greeted by the Rev. Haddon Robinson
ef First Baptist church who was advisor to the committee.

Presbyterian church last Saturday. Following New Zealand custom, in
deference to the bridegroom, the attendants followed rather than
preceding the bride down the' aisle. Pictured (left to right) are Donald

May Social Events

Three large social events were on the calendar last Saturday
night. ( ,
Miss Janet Claire Durno, known to her friends as Jane, became
the bride of Dr. Brian Douglas Stringer of Christchurch, New Zea
land, in a formal ceremony at First Presbyterian church. Other
events included the annual Junior-Senior Prom of Medford High
school and a formal banquet at the Jackson hotel for high school
juniors and seniors who did not attend the dance. The banquet was
sponsored by several Medford and Central Point churches.
At Medford's Junior-Senior Prom Miss Molly Walker was
crowned Prom Queen as scores of students and guests applauded.
Her attendants were Miss Nellie Rawlings, Miss Delora Dunn and
Miss Pauline Bliss, seniors; Miss Jan Schleip, Miss Sally Ross, Miss
Jean Alley and Miss Diana Getchell, juniors. (Brainerd photos)

Students who helped to plan the Junior-Senior Banquet given May
12 were (left to right) Don Strong and Miss Pat Leek, Medford High
school juniors; Miss Jane Neely, a senior, and Gary Smith of Crater
high school. A program of music and other entertainment and an1
academy-award film were enjoyed by the young people who at
tended the banquet. Elaborate wall decorations provided a setting
for the party.

Miss Molly Walker, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. I. Paul Walker, 408
South Oakdale avenue, was crowned queen of the 1956 Junior-Senior
Prom of Medford High school the evening of May 12. Queen Molly
wore a formal gown of blue net over blue taffeta and wore flowers
on her hair, arranged in a chignon of curls oh the back of her head.
She was presented an arm bouquet of carnations end received her
crown from Bruce Kellington, president of the student body.

In keeping with the theme of the Junior-Senior Prom at Medford
High school, the two students who had charge of programs were
dressed in beautiful oriental costumes. Miss Ruth Anne Marshall
stands at left and Miss Gladys Beddoe is her companion. "Oriental
Garden" was the theme title, and juniors on the decorating committee
had painted large dragons to adorn the walls of the school gymnasium.

Following the coronation of Queen Molly I at the J 956 Junior-Senior Prom May 12, the queen and princesses
posed with their escorts. Shown (left to right) are Miss Jan Schleip, Al Boardman, Miss Jean Alley, John Bellack,
Miss Pauline Bliss, Dick McLaughlin, Queen Molly, Bruce Kellington, student body president; Miss Nellie Rawlings,

Miss Rawlings' gown was pink ruffled nylon with rhinestones. Miss Dunn wore ruffled white net. Miss Ross wore
" a white silk frock, printed with pink rosebuds and MiuGetchell's gown' was blue cotton flocked with white.
