o Rummage 'Women of the Laurelhurst Advent Christian church will conduct a rummage sale Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 108 North Ivy st., beginning at 8:30 a.m. Back To Classes Don Robin son, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Robinson, 29 Ross court, left for Eugene Sunday evening to re turn to classes at the University of Oregon after visiting his par ents following semester exami nations. Rummage Local members of the Democratic party wiJp con duct a rummage and cooked food sale Thursday and Friday, Feb. 2 and 3, at 108 North Ivy st. In addition to good used clothes for men, owmen and chil dren, the group also will have a table of "white elephant" items and plants for spring plantings. Proceeds will be used for dele gates of the party to attend the Adlai Stevenson dinner to be held later this spring in Portland. Final Reading Final reading on making a county road of a ?4-mile extension of Sardine Creek road was heard today by the county court. Commission ers said the extension will be rebuilt as soon as weather per mits. At Osteopathic Mrs. John Ells, Prospect, had appendecto my Saturday at Osteopathic hos pital and Robert Davison, Eagle Point, was admitted there for medical care, attendants report ed yesterday. Singer Coming Vera Ruther ford, colored concert singer and evangelist, will appear at the Assembly of God church, Tal ent, beginning Sunday, Feb. 5. The Rev. Leo G. Gilman, pastor, said Miss Rutherford will be at the church to assist with serv ices nightly, except Saturday, with the program to begin at 7:45 p.m. each day. This will be Miss Rutheford's secSnd visit to the valley. She was here two years ago for a series of programs. Undergo Surgery Mrs. W. W. Brawn, 507 Kenwood ave., un derwent surgery at Community hospital yesterday morning, the family reported. This morning Community hospital reported that Donald Green, 7-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin E. Green, post office box 901, Med ford, underwent a tonsillec tomy. From MaiysvillS Mrs. Charles Bartlett, Marysville, Calif., has been visiting at the home of Mr. ang Mrs. Ralph Harris, 430 O'Gara st. Her son, Robert Bartlett, and her sister, Mrs. Vera Johnson, were vic tims of the Christmas floods at Yuba City, Calif. Mrs. Bartlett has been here for about a week and plans to leave for home ' soon. Building Permit A building permit was issued yesterday to R. L, Casterline, to erect an ad dition to his residence at 45 South Modoc ave., costing an estimated 16,300. Marshal Inspects The fire marshal inspected eight business occupancies and one public gar age yesterday. Six orders were issued for correction ofohazard ous conditions. o , Church Supper The annual "Ground Hog" supper of Med ford Church of the Brethren will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. at the church, 345, Mary st., and the public is invited to attend. An announcement of the0 event earlier erroneously stated that the supper would be tonight. - Hit and Run A hit and run accident at 5:13 p.m. yesterday, on East Sixth st. between North Front st. and North Central ave., resulted in slight damage to at car driven by Percy James O'Neill, 736 Summit ave., ac cording to city police. The oth er vehicle failed to stop, police said. ,. In Hospital James Wicker, 58, of 809 Adams lane, was tak en to Community hospital Mon day noon by Medford. Ambu lance service after having been taken ill while at work at the Medford corporation. This morn ing it was reported that he was remaining in the hospital for observation but that he had spent a good night. Visit Mr. and Mrs. Herbert B. Scout Sale Senior Girl Scouts of the Rogue Valley area will hold a rummage sale Saturday, Feb. 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Girls' Community club, 221 North Bartlett st. Funds raised by the sale will be used to send four girls and one leader from the Rogue Valley Area council to the Senior Girl Scout round up to be held June 29-July 12 at Highland State park, near Detroit, Mich. Anyone wishing to donate rummage is asked to take it to the home of Mrs. Ray Johnson, 325 Vancouver ave. Stinson, 58, of Fall Creek, Calif., who died Saturday, will be held at Conger-Morris chapel at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, with the Central Point Lodge AF& AM in charge. Committal will be in the IOOF cemetery.- Honorary pallbearers will in clude J. C. Boyle, C. C. Archi bald, P. G. Humphreys, H. C. Wells, S. M. Bullis, R. S. Dan iels, Leos Bates, Marvin Cooley. Active bearers will include J. A. Grigsby, Dale Jefferson, R. Mat thews, W. W. Beene, R. L. Adams and V.Jg. Strong. Mr. Stinson0 was born May 7, 1897, in Medford, near Roxy Ann. He was the son of the late Edward and Rose Stinson who came to Medford in 1891. He first went to work for Copco at the first dam site og the Klam ath river in 1915. He attended Oregon State college and en listed in the Army, Jan. 9. 1918, in Vancouver. He served with the AEF from May 3 through December, 1918. He was dis chargedoDec. 28, 1918, at Camp Lewis, Wash. After his discharge in 1918 he worked for a time in the Pros pect area, then moved to Grants Pass. From 1928 until 1934, when he returned to Medford he lived in Crescent City. In 1947 he moved to Roseburg wherg he was superintendent for Copco until -October, 1954, when , he moved to Fall Creek, Calif., as chief operator, because of ill ness. He was a member of Central Point Lodge,. AF&AM; Medford Scottish Rite, . Hillah Temple, AAONMS, Ashland and Doug las Court, Order of Amaranth, Roseburg. Survivors include his wife, Lucy M. Stinson; daughters, Mrs. H. J. Wright, Medford; Mrs. S. O. Gibson,' Springfield, Ore.; Mrs. R. P. Jensen, Central Point; Mrs. D. J. Lockett, San Leandro,' Calif.; Mrs. P. F. Wag ner, Santa Monica, Calif.; a son, Edward Stinson, Lawndale, Calif.; a brother, Frank Stinson, Medford; a stepson, Perry Skeet ers, White City, and 10 grandchildren. Two Youths Arrested !n Burglary Cases Two more county youths, who gave their ages as 17, were ar rested by sheriff's officers yes terday in connection with a number of county burglaries." Deputies said the two, with three others jailed Saturday, ad mitted burglaries of Becker's drug store, Gold Hill, and the Gold Hill, Rogue River and West Side schools. Not all the youths took part in every entry, how ever, they said. . The five have been remanded to juvenile authorities and are held pending juvenile court hearings before Judge H. K.
