(Brain erd Photo) Members of Medford Sojourners' Club Take Office at Party Thursday Afternoon Medford Sojourners' club held the first meeting of the. new year Thursday at the Medford hotel. About 70 members, prospective members and guests were pres- ent to welcome the new officers and participate in the club's so cial activities. Mrs. Meredith H. Parsons was installed president by Mrs. George Lovenborg. Others tak ing offices for . the coming six; months were Mrs. Wilson Bjorge, first vica-president; Mrs. Charles Campbell, secretary and Mrs. James Winslow, treasurer. Ap pointive officers are Mrs. Don Carlon, hospitality; Mrs. Marvin L. Nelson, publicity and Mrs. Jerry Tobin, remembrance. Corsages of red roses were presented to the retiring presi dent, Mrs. John Mansfield and the new president, Mrs. Parsons, by Mrs. Lovenborg. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs. Donald Jones, Mrs. Bruce Braaten and Mrs. Earl Crisman. The luncheon tabie was centered with a candle abrur holding artificial clover flowers. Prospective members attend ing for the first time were Mrs. 'Samuel Morris, Mrs. .Merrill Mountain, Mrs. John Andrews, Mrs. Clarance Byrd, Mrs.' Jay Grant, Mrs. Ellis Ingram, Mrs. Clyde LaFevre, Mrs. Duane Za- Chet Taylor. Mrs. Sam L. Jones was a guest from the Klamath Falls Sojourners. Inactive mem bers present were: Mrs. Gerald VonTing, Mrs. Ralph Barclay, Mrs. Don Wright, Mrs. F. E. Can trill, Mrs. W. T. Fasel, Mrs. O. R. Jackson, and Mrs. Sarah Wood. Best wishes were extended to Mrs. Eugene Ingram on her birth day. Special award was present ed to Mrs. F. E. Cantrill. At cards, bridge prizes went to Mrs. Parsons and Mrs. Wilson Bjorge, pinochle awards were won by Mrs. Sam L. Jones and Mrs. Earl H. Crisman and canasta awards went to Mrs. Teddy May field and Mrs. Ray Smalley. . The next meeting of the group will be January 26 at the Med ford Hotel. All newcomers who have lived in Medford not more than two years will be welcomed. PEO. Sisterhood To Hold Luncheon On Founders' Day Founders' day for the PEO Sisterhood will be observed with a joint luncheon held by the four chapters of the city, AA, BE, CG and CP. The luncheon will be at the Tally-Ho Dining room, Talent,- at 1 p.m., Satur day, January 21st. , Mrs. C. I. Drummond, presi dent of Chapter AA will preside at the meeting. Arrangements Labor Legislation To Be Discussed Labor legislation will be dis cussed and officers elected at a meeting of Jackson County Republican Women Monday. It will be held at 12 noon at the YMCA and both men and wom en are invited to attend. Speaker! will be Clyde Brum- mell, director of organization for the Republican State Central committee, who will discuss the Republican record on labor leg islation, and George Potucek, president of the Carpenters' local. He will discuss what labor wants in the way of legislation. Reservations for the luncheon may be made by calling Mrs. Stephen G. Mrs. Randolph was presented a gavel and flowers by her granddaughters, Marsha and Ka ren Svensen. The new matron and patron spoke, and speeches of greetings and congratulations were given by Mrs. Carl Harris and Thomas Laird, matron and patron of Alpha chapter, Ashland. Mrs., Randolph introduced her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Hall, and Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Motschenbacher, Roseburg; her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Svensen, Cres cent City, Calif., and her hus band. Mr. Gilkinson introduced his wife and daughter, Pamela, and his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Dyke. The program closed with the mizpah benediction, and a re ception followed. Mrs. Randolph wore a gown of rose-colored crystalette with skirt of embroidered tulle and carried an old-fashioned bou quet of pink painted daisies. The officers were gowned in blue nylon tricot and carried matching nosegays. Courtesy Girls wore a rose nylon net and lace with wristlets of pink paint ed daisies. Happiness was the reception theme. Refreshments were serv ed from tables arranged in star form and decorated with pink tapers and white ivy. The cen terpiece was a fountain sur rounded by pink daisies and bluebirds. The ceiling of the room was woven with pink crepe paper through which hung many golden cages, each holding a bluebird. NewJyweds Now Live in Prospect. Prospect Mr. and Mrs. Law rence Lester Sanderson, who were married December 27, made their wedding trip to Los Angeles, El Monte, and Hunt ington Park, Calif. The bride is the former Miss Charlotte Jean ette Walls, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Walls. The bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Sanderson, also live at Prospect, . and the newly wedded couple plan to make their home in the same city. The Rev. Gerald Gardner of Prospect Nazarene church, Chap el' in the Pines, performed the ceremony at his home at 8 o'clock in the evening. About 20 guests attended. Miss Patricia Sanderson, Pros pect, a sister of the bridegroom, was the honor attendant. Richard Wall, Medford, broth-. er of the bride, was best man. The bride wore a light blue dress with navy blue accessories. Her corsage was of red rosebuds. Miss Sanderson also wore blue and her flowers were pink rose The bride is a junior student at Prospect high school and the bridegroom was- graduated in- 1955 from the same school. He is employed . at Red Blanket Lumber company. ' President Booked By Women's Club Dr. Elmo Stevenson, president of Southern Oregon college, Ashland, will speak at the Jan uary meeting of Medford Busi ness and Professional Women's club. The subject of his talk will be "Public Relations." The meeting will be held Thursday, January 19, at 6:30 p.m. at Roxy Anne Grange hall. Hospital Auxiliary To Elect Officers Election of officers for the Rogue Valley Memorial Hospital auxiliary will be held at the an nual meeting Friday, January 20, in the hospital penthouse, it was announced today by Mrs. Shelby Tuttle, president. The meeting will start at 1:30 p.m., and in addition to association of ficers, chairmen of the various service groups will be elected. Guest speaker will be the Rev. D. Kirkland West, D.D., of First Presbyterian church. 4- Officers Elected By Women's Guild Mrs. Arthur Cummings was elected president of the Women's guild by Zion Lutheran church January 10. Mrs. Hans (Edward sen is the new first vice-president; Mrs. Bruce Braaten, second vice-president; Mrs. Ora Rusk, secretary; Mrs. Carl Borg Jr., treasurer and Mrs. Wendell Mat tson, statistical secretary. Circle chairman also were an nounced. Mrs. Ray Alder is chairman of Mary -Circle; Mrs. Owen Goodrich, Esther; Mrs. Mrs. William Gates, Lydia; Mrs. Heine Hertager, Ruth; and Mrs. Henry Moyer, Miriam. About 85 women were assigned to the five circles. At the meeting proposed amendments to the constitution were adopted and the year's pro grams discussed.
