A of valley groups make up the major share of the week's social calendar. Members of many or ganizations will assemble gifts for those in hospitals, homes or other institutions during the par ties. The Women's auxiliary to Jackson County Medical associa tion will hold the annual Christ ma: ) party Wednesday, Decem ber 14, at the home of Mrs. Charles Lemery, 200 Windsor avenue. Dessert will be served at "7:30 p.m. Co-hostesses will be Mrs. Ed win R. Durno, Mrs. William P. Holt and Mrs. M. L. Vorheis. A feature of the evening will be a white elephant auction. Mem- bers are also requested to take toys which will be distributed to children hospitalized over the Christmas holidays. Chrysanthemum circle, Neigh bors of Woodcraft, will meet for an annual Christmas dinner, Monday, December 12 at the Oloose hall, 11 Newtown street The dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Members are asked to take 0 articles of food or clothing to business meeting will be held after the dinner and a program conducted. Past Noble Grands club mem bers will meet for an annual Christmas party Saturday, De cember 15 at the Odd Fellows hall. A turkey dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. , Mrs. Carl Pearson is dinner chairman. An exchange of gifts not to exceed 50 cents will be held dur ing the evening and members alsp are asked to take a gift of linen for the . Masonic Bodies Plan Installation Tuesday Evening Joint installation ceremonies wiU be held Tuesday by Crater Lake chapter, Royal Arch Ma sons, and Table Rock council, Royal and Select Masons, it was announced last week. t A potluck dinner for all Ma sons, their families and invited guests will be held at 6:30 p.m., followed by a meeting of the council at vhich officers will be elected. The chapter named officers last Tuesday, including Ole Skoog, exalted high priest; G.' A. Cottingham, king; Verner Lugnet, scribe; E. B. Price, treas urer; H. Fred Kaller, secretary; H. F. Morris, captain of the host; V. A. Turpin, representative to the Masonic Temple association; C. G. Goold, principal sojour ner; R. F. Gilkison, master of the third veil; C. H. Young, mas ter of the second veil; C. W. Harwood, master of the first yeil; L. R. 'Manning, sentinel, and C. H. W. Oestreich, chaplain. A gift exchange will be held during a luncheon and Christ mas party Monday, December 12 for members of the Scottish Rite Women's club. The event will be held at 12 noon at the Med- ford hotel. The gifts should not exceed 50 cents in cost. Mrs. E. Huffman, Gold Hill, is chairman, and Mrs. Charles Hoppe has charge of decorations. Crater Lake chapter, Daugh ters of the American Revolution, will hear a talk on "Christmas Customs in Colonial Times,." by Mrs. B. G. Harding at a meeting Saturday, December 17 at 2 p.m. Mrs. T. J. Gifford, 419 South Oakdale avenue, will be hostess to the group. Carols will be sung and an exchange of gifts conducted. Pupils Present Recent Recital Music pupils of Mrs. Ernest Conrad entertained their parents with a recital at the studio, 1523 East McAndrews road, on De cember 2. A program of piano solos, piano duets, and piano and organ numbers were presented. These ranged from compositions by the masters to "boogie woo gie" and the program closed with Christmas numbers. Mrs. Edward Rupp assisted at the refreshment table. Pupils taking part were Laura Allen, Phillip Rupp, Adele Hueb nerj, Marilyn Conrad, Rosalie Hewitt, Jack Richardson, Bill Richardson, Ellen Kay McUne, Dale Cully and Ben Gault. Sisters Name New Officers; Plan Party Mrs. Mildred Tolle was elected chief of the Pythian Sisters De cember 6 during a meeting of the group held in the Pythian building. Mrs. George Thomas is retiring chief. Others elected were Miss Florence Bain, excel lent senior; Mrs. g. E. Bostwick, junior, Mrs. M. B. Lamp, man ager; Mrs. Roy W. Jackson, sec retary; Mrs. Floyd F. Murray, treasurer. Mrs. Don Ross, protector; Mrs Joe Cook, guard; Mrs. Ida Ire land, trustee, Mrs. Margaret Davis, installing officer; . Mrs George Bryant, press corres pondent, and Mrs. Don Ander son, degree staff captain. The-Past Chiefs club elected Mrs. Mabel Nicholson as presi dent during an annual Christmas party and business session held last week at the home of Mrs. Delia Watkins. Mrs. Don Ross is the new vice- president, and Mrs. George Thomas, secretary-treasurer. The annual Christmas party for members of Pythian club will be held Tuesday, December 13 at 6:30 p.m., at the home of Mrs. W. L. Walden, 848 West McAndrews road. Those who want further information may call Mrs. Ida Ireland, vice-president, telephone 3-5594. Gifts for the exchange should not ex ceed 75 cents in cost. Knights of Pythias and Py thian Sisters plan a potluck din ner and Christmas party Friday, December 16 at 6.30 p.m., in the Pythian building. Boy Scouts of Troop 16 and Pythian Sunshine Girls will be guests. A program and treats for the children are planned. Kathleen Jones Now Registered As Technologist Miss Kathleen Jones, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Rollin Jones, 208 Hamilton st., recently pass ed an examination to become a registered medical technologist and members of that profession al group. She is a graduate of the Uni versity of Oregon and is a tech nologist at Emanuel hospital, Portland. William Thompson Free Methodist Church Scene of Recent Wedding Central Point Miss Marie Briggs became the bride of Wil lard Thompson in a single ring ceremony held Sunday, Novem ber 27 at the Free Methodist church. The Eev. John M. Root read the ceremony at three o'clock in the afternoon. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. W Briggs, Wilson lane, Central Point, and the bridegroom is a son of Mrs. Wal ter Slauson, 225 South Riverside avenue, and Walter Thompson, Roseburg. Mr. Briggs gave his daughter in marriage. Her gown was of taffeta with net designed with tulle overskirt, and lace bodice. Her mitts were of net and a crown of nylon lace and pearls held her net veil. The bride's bouquet was of white chrysan themums centered with white orchids. Miss Mary Jane Briggs was maid of honor for her sister. She wore a gown of yellow taffeta with net, ballerina length, and her plantation hat was of match ing yellow taffeta. She carried a nosegay of green chrysanthemums. Miss Ellen Standridge was bridesmaid. Her gown was green taffeta and net worn with a plantation hat of green taffeta. Her nosegay was of matching yellow chrysanthemums. Ira Brock, Central Point, uncle of the bride, was best man. Don Shower is Given For Bride-Elect Miss Cynthia Hunt, whose wedding to Donald McKay is set for this month, was honored Wednesday evening at a bridal shower given by members of the public library staff. The group gatherer first at the li brary and then went to the home of Mrs. Thayer Tarvin, where Miss Hunt was a dinner guest. After the special guest had opened the individual shower gifts of kitchen items and lin gerie, the group's collective gift of a casserole and warmer set was presented. Guests included Ralph McKay, Mr. McKay's bother, Mesdames Harold Per key, Ted Graham, Shirley Dar by, and Phyllis Morse, Misses Mary Fredenberg and Helen Webster, - Terry and Thayer Tarvin. The McKay -Hunt wedding is set for December 19 and the bride-elect plans to resume her work in the library after a brief honeymoon vacation. 4 Daughters Plan Open House Today To Honor Parents Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Nichols of Redmond, Ore., will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary today with an open house at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Hans Rammin, 831 West 12th street. Friends and neighbors are in vited to call after 2:30 o'clock. The Nichols, long-time resi dents of Redmond, have been frequent visitors in the- valley and are spending the winter with the Rammins. Two other daughters, Mrs. Archie Brown and Mrs. Jessie Tycer, Eagle Point, will also be hostesses. The' altar was decorated with greenery and baskets of white and yellow chrysanthemums. Mrs. Clem Finley furnished the wedding music and Mrs. Loyal Smith sang. The reception was- held at the home of the bride's uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Brock, 125 Bush street, Central Point. Miss Carolyn Groshong poured the punch and Mrs. Summerfield served the cake. Miss Nancy Standridge served coffee. Regis tering the guests was Alfred Standridge. For the wedding and reception the bride's mother wore a black satin dress with white trim and the bridegroom's mother was dressed in a slate grey suit with white accessories. Their cor sages were white carnations. From out-of-town for the wed ding were - the bride's great aunt, Mrs. Pearl Oetinger, and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Miller and daughter, Wilma, all of Citrus Heights, Calif. Four generations also were represented at the wedding. They include the bride, her mother, Mrs. C. W. Briggs, the bride's grandmother, Mrs. S. H. Oetin ger Sr., Central Point, and the great grandmother, Mrs. John Murphy. The bride attended Crater High school and the bridegroom was a student at Coryallis High school. He served for three years with the Navy and now is self employed. They live at 225 South River side avenue. Anniversary Observed By Society Ashland Twenty-five years ago, Alpha chapter of Theta Delta Phi, men's scholastic hon orary, was founded on the SOC campus an event which was commemorated in a luncheon ceremony Wednesday in the Science hall at which all male faculty members were guests of the organization at its annual "Hallelujah Festival and Free Barbecue." Neal Wyatt, president, wel comed the guests and presented the members of the honorary to the group. Dr. Arthur S. Taylor, one of the founders of the organization and chairman of the SOC Sci ence department, spoke on "The Historical Significance and Im port of the 'Hallelujah Festival and Free Barbecue' to the School, the Faculty, and the Theta Delta Phi' Fraternity." Dr. Taylor's address, like its title, was humorously developed and interrupted frequently by laughter and applause. He sketched briefly the history, of the club, its purpose, and. gave tribute to those who had pre pared the entertainment and luncheon. General chairman of the event, William Mearns, was as sisted in the kitchen by Dr. El liott McCracken, SOC faculty member. Chapter members serv ed the meal and worked on the cleanup committee. Dr. Wayne W. Wells, co-founder of the organization with Dr: Taylor in 1927, was also in at tendance. T Girl Scouts Hold Calendar Sale; Tea is Project The 1956 Girl Scout calendars will be on sale at Mann's De partment store from 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 12 through Friday, December 16. The money received from the sale of cal endars will . help pay expenses for four girls when they attend a national Girl Scout roundup at Highland Park, Mich., next summer. Society Initiates Roy Lee Rogers Corvallis Roy Lee Rogers, Medford senior at Oregon State college, was among 27 seniors to be initiated by Phi Kappa Phi, national scholastic society at Oregon State college. Students selected for mem bership in Phi Kappa Phi must rank in the upper 10 per cent of thei' class. The society is composed of faculty, graduate and undergraduate members of all departments of American universities and colleges. Young Rogers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Rogers of 847 Penn sylvania avenue, Medford, is majoring in electrical engineer ing at OSC. He is a 1952 gradu ate of Medford High school.
