Maxlne Hamner, College Student -Plan Summer Rites Mr. and Mrs. Ken Hamner of the Holland hotel, announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Maxine Hamner to Robert Judd Staten, son of Mrs. Lu cille Staten, 710 North River side avenue. Miss Hamner is a senior at Medford Senior high school. Her finance is a sophomore at Southern Oregon college where he is studying business administration. He attended Medford Senior high school and also attended Oregon Technical institute at Klamath Falls where he majored in x-ray work. On completion of his studies at OTT he enrolled at SOC. He participated in sports in high school and also at the institute The wedding date is set for late July next year. Former Resident Visits in Medford Dr. and Mrs. Winston C. (Chick) Vance, Escondido, Calif., left Wednesday after visiting here for several days. They stayed during their visit at the Crater Inn motel and called on numerous friends. Dr. Vance formerly lived in Medio, d and attended Medford High school. He was a member of the football squad and left Medford about 1925 when he studied in California for the practice of dentistry. The couple left here for Tule lake, Calif., to go bird hunting. Mis Maxine Hammer (Brainerd photo) Committee Head Attends Meeting Mrs. G. A. Dierdorff, Medford, has returned from Chicago, where she attended a three-day meeting of the board of directors of the auxiliary to the American Osteopathic association. She is president of the Oregon auxil iary, as well as a member of the board. Mrs. Dierdorff attended a meeting of the committee in charge of distribution of Christ mas seals of the association, pro ceeds of which help finance os teopathic research and student load board. She is chairman of ' the committee. February Rites To Wed Couple Mr. and Mrs. Walter H. An drews, 216 Laurel street, an nounc r the engagement of their daughter, Leora Marie, to Dr. Joseph A. Braden of Houston, Tex. Dr. Braden is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Braden of Hondo, Tex. Miss Andrews is a United Air Lines stewardess at Salt Lake City, Utah and was formerly employed with the United States National bank and United Air Lines in Medford. Dr. Braden is completing a tour of active duty with the USAR as a first lieu tenant. Miss Andrews attended schools in Portland and Gold Beach, Ore., as well as San Diego State college where she was affiliated with Alpha Phi sorority. Dr. Braden received his degree in veterinary medicine at the A&M college of Texas. The wedding has been set for February 4 in Denver. The bride's attendants will be Miss Colleen Page of Oakland, Cajif., maid of honor and Miss Jann McCord, Berkeley, bridesmaid. Couple to Leave For Arizona Visit Mr. and Mrs. Dolph Phipps, Crater Lake highway, will leave the middle of the week for Phoenix, Ariz., where they will spend Christmas with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Michele and family. The Phipps' will leave there in. January for a tour of the West Indies. Mis Leora Andrews Marriage Rites Held in Hawaii Mr. and Mrs. Harold L. Heav ilin, 609 West 13th street, an nounce the marriage November 22 of their daughter, Miss Helen Marie Heavilin, to Tommy L. Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. D. Miller, North Pacific highway. The ceremony was read at the Marine . corps base chapel in Honolulu, Hawaii. . Rehart, royal matron of Roxy Ann court, Or der of the Amaranth, has an nounced that the annual Christ mas party will be held Decem ber 15 at the Masonic temple after a short stated meeting. "It has been the custom each year for every member to bring a gift for a needy child, marked for a boy or girl and the approx imate age group. These gifts are placed under the tree and are distributed by a committee to underprivileged children," Mrs. Rehart stated. Under the supervision of Mrs. Edward C. Root, a buffet supper will be served to all members of Roxy Ann court immediately following the meeting, with tur key and ham on the menu. Games and entertainment are also planned. Past royal matrons and pa trons of Roxy Ann court, to gether with past matrons and patrons of other courts residing in the area, will hold a Christ mas party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lambo, 1389 South Peach street, Sunday, De cember. 18, at 5 p.m. Gifts of food will be ex changed.
