' - ".- it J, o fet - , r 'is?' 4r Nazarene Ceremony Weds V angle Freed, Waldo Copley An event of Tuesday, December 6, was the wedding of Miss Vangie May Freed to Waldo Harley Copley. The double-ring cere mony took place at 7:30 o'clock at Medford Church of the Naza rene, with the Rev. Raymond W. Hum officiating. About 150 guests attended. . Mrs. Waldo Harley Copley is the former Vangie May Freed Mr. Copley, an airman in the USAF, and his bride are shown be low following the wedding Tuesday at the Nazarene church (Classic Studios) 1 I The bride is a daughter of .Mr. and Mrs. Nick Freed, form erly of Prospect and now of Enderby, B. C, and the bride groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Copley, Eagle Point. Color theme of the wedding was red and white, and a large red and white heart formed a setting for the couple. Heart shaped arrangements of holly, a basket of white chrysanthem ums and red and white tapers in candelabra completed the set ting. The pew ends were decorat ed with ribbon bows and clust ers of red roses.. Mrs. Arnold Kornstad was organist, and George McUne was vocal soloist for the ceremony. For her wedding the bride wore a gown of traditional white satin with long sleeves and skirt ending in a train. Her net veil, first worn by her sister, Mrs. Joel Walls, was held by a tiara of seed pearls and she wore a triple-strand pearl neck lace. The bride carried a white orchid with red roses on a white Bible, the Bible also having been carried by Mrs. Walls at her wedding. Miss Dora Robertson, Ashland, was maid-of-honor and other at tendants were Miss Darlene Nye, Prospect, Miss Arlene Rasmus sen, Medford and Mrs. Roger Snyder, Prospect. Miss Robert son's gown was of red taffeta and she carried a heart-shaped bouquets of white carnations and ruffled net. Her red head band was trimmed with small white rosebuds. The frocks worn by the brides maids and matron were of white taffeta with red sashes designed to match Miss Robertson's gown. They carried heart-shaped bou quets of red carnations and rib bon. Their headbands were of white with tiny red rosebuds and their pearl and rhinestone necklaces were, gifts from the bride. Miss Kathy Copley and Miss Linda Bennett, cousins of the bridegroom, were candlelighters and Jean Bailey was flower girl. They wore frocks of white dot ted nylon Swiss with red piping and red velvet sashes. Billy, Winton served as ring bearer. Uther Rogers, family friend from Prospect, gave the Jsride in marriage and Don Copley, Eagle Point, the bridegroom's broth er served as head usher. Addi tional ushers were Joel Walls,-brother-in-law of the bride, and Lowell Shearin. The reception which followed was in the church annex, with 100 guests attending. Chrysan themums, holly and greenery decorated the room. White roses, ferns and white candles were arranged on the refreshments tables. Mrs. Joe Johnson and Mrs. Roy House took charge of the reception and Mrs. Walls cut the wedding cake, assisted by Mrs. Kornstad. Mrs. Don Wright poured punch, assisted by Mrs. Marvin Smith, Miss Carol Har ris and Miss Eva Goble. Miss Shirley Wright took charge of gifts, and Mrs. Ron Sherman the guest book. Reception music was provided by Mrs. Clifford Shafer. For the wedding and recep tion the bride's mother wore a dress of navy blue and her corsage was of gardenias and red roses. The bridegrooms mother also wore navy blue with corsages of gardenias and red roses. Out-of-town' guests included the bride's mother and her two brothers, Richard and Teddy Freed, who - came from British Columbia. The newlyweds have left for Fairchild base, Spokane, Wash., where the bridegroom, an air man second class in the United States Air Force, is stationed. He attended high school in Sandpoint, Ida. The bride, who attended school in Prospect and later studied at Northwest Naz arene college, has been an op erator here for, Pacific Telephone company. She is being trans ferred to the Spokane office. Before the wedding the bride elect was honored at two show ers. One was given December 2 by members of the Nazarene church, and was held, in the church annex with 35 guests at tending. The following night Miss Gayle Sweeney and Mrs. Anc Copley were hostesses for a shower, entertaining at the Cop ley home, 775 Queen drive. Couple Married In California Talent The wedding Novem ber 12 of Miss Patrina Doreene Mrs. Ray Burnette, route 1, box 588v Talent, and H. R. Feeler, was announced last week. The bridegroom, a son of Mr; and Mrs. John Forsyth, Ashland, is a corporal in the Marine corps. The ceremony was held at First Methodist church at Ocean side, Calif., and the rites were read' by the Rev. Eugene Wood. For her wedding the bride wore a navy blue suit with white accessories and her cor sage was of orchids. Mrs. Richard B. Varney, sis ter of the bridegroom, was ma tron of honor. Her suit was grey and black and her acces sories also were black. She wore a corsage of pink rosebuds. Corporal Varney was best man for his brother-in-law. Corporal Feeler left for over seas duty November 24 and will be stationed in Japan for . two years. The bride is a 1955 Talent high school graduate and will return to the valley to live. She is employed as a stenographer. Carpenters Home From Trip East Mr. and Mrs. Dunbar Carpen ter returned home Thursday from a trip east. They spent some time at Mr. Carpenter's former home near Boston and visited relatives of Mrs. Car penter in New York. En route they made stops in Cleveland and Chicago. On the trip east they were accompanied by Mr. Carpenter's sister, Mrs. Bernard Van Horn, Portland. - Just Folks Mrs. E. R. Gilstrap will be hostess for the annual Christmas party of Just Folks club. It is set for Thursday, December 15, at 1 p.m. in her home, 35 Gen eva street. ' Headdress Contest Planned For Annual Christmas Ball For several years past the annual Christmas Charity ball of Medford Junior Service league has been one of the most festive events of the holiday season, and this year's ball is more eagerly anticipated than ever. This year the dance, planned for Friday, December 16, at Rogue Valley Country club, will be highlighted by election of a queen. Women attending the ball have been asked to wear headdresses, and judges will select the most glamorous and attractive. The guest whose headdress is voted winner will reign as Queen of the Ball. Mrs. Jack Lewis and Mrs. B. Brandt Bartells, co-chairman in charge of the annual benefit event, state that the headdresses are not mandatory, but it is hoped many women will make them a part of their formal attire. The ball will be preceded by a cocktail hour from 8 to 9 o'clock, and at 9:30 o'clock a grand march will be held. Dur ing the march the headdresses will be judged. A floor show Is planned for 11 p.m. and the dance will be followed by a song fest in the lounge. Assisting Mrs. Lewis and Mrs. Bartels are several sub-chairmen. Mrs. Robert Cunningham and Mrs. T. M. Garhart are entertainment chairmen, and Mrs. Floyd Baker heads the re ception committee. Mrs. Thom as H. Emmens heads the com mittee planning the cocktail hour, and Mrs. David Holmes and Mrs. R. E. Hibbs are decor ations chairmen. Mrs. H. L. Bush is music chair man, Mrs. George McGill is chairman in charge of food and Mrs. George Lewis' heads the invitations chairmen. Mrs. Rob ert C. Taylor is publicity head for the event. Funds earned from this im portant social event support the league's kindergarten for deaf children, maintained in Medford. Other holiday events at the club include a Junior members party and dance Friday, Decem ber 23 from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., for sons and daughters of members, and a student dance for all college students and high school seniors set for Friday, December 30, from 8 p.m. to midnight. The Junior members party may be attended by young people between the ages of 12 through 15. A coke bar will be furnished and dinner will be served. For the college and high school students a buffet will be served at 9 p.m.. Dress will be semi formal. Another eyent, an annual one, will be the children's Christmas party which will be held this year Tuesday, December 20 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Members child ren, ages 3 through 7, are in vited and the program will in clude singing, moving pictures, refreshments and gifts. Medford Woman Home From I rip Mrs. James Stevens, 537 West Tenth street, returned home this week from a six weeks' trip to Minneapolis, Minn., and other midwest points. In Minnesota she visited relatives, members of the Andrews family, and with relatives of her late husband. En route home Mrs. Stevens came by way of Seattle, Wash., and visited Mr. and Mrs. George Peckham. Mr. Peckham is a baritone singer, a former Med ford resident and appeared here last winter in concert with the Medford Philharmonic orchestra. Club Party A Christmas party for Med ford Toastmistress club will be held at the home of Mrs. Clar ence Wilson, 401 Ardmore street Tuesday, December 13, at 7:45 p.m. Dinner Meeting Planned by Troop Friday Evening Annual election of officers will be held by members of Ladies Mounted troop, auxiliary to the Jackson County Mounted Sheriff's posse during 'a dinner meeting Friday, December 16 at the posse club house. The dinner, which will be served at 7 p.m., will honor Mrs. Clarance Dodge, present captain of the troop, and will be given by the past captains. Mrs. H. B. Murphy is chairman.'
