o o o o 4 New PTA'V Has Session The newly organized Jeffer son Parent - Teacher association held its first regular meeting De cember 2. Mrs. Fred Simcox, president, introduced the board members as Mrs. Irvin Patten, budget, ways and means; Mrs. Jim Semple, membership; Mrs. C. F. Underwood, room repre sentative; Mrs . John Vaughn, hospitality; Mrs. Elmer Bellack, pgram chairman and Mrs. E. HQPesenti, publicity. Mrs. Simcox introduced sev eral interesting new ideas to the meeting. The feature item was a question box for ail members to use. All complaints, ideas and suggestions concerning the teach ers, meetings, officers, and pro jects are to be put in the box at the end of each meeting. Also, there is to be a ten minute buzz session at each meeting for an excmge of ideas. Q At Friday's meeting, the teach- Gters remained in their rooms for a half hour conference period with parents who had questions concerning their children's work. This was held prior to the meet ingtime and was so successful hat 4 will be in effect at the remaining afternoon meetings for the year. 0 Group singing was held and all joined in the fun of "Yellow Rose of Texas" and "Smile." The refreshments, enhanced by Christmas ecorations and sea sonal cookies, were served by members of the board. Eastwood Church Announces Party O An all-church Christmas party is .planned for members of East- wood Baptist church and will be held Tuesday, December 13 at 7:30 p.m., in the home of Dr. and Mrs. S. D. Earhart. Men of tlj church are espe cially invited. ' Hostesses for the evening will be Mrs. Roland Beach, Mrs. Paul Walker, Mrs. Ron Rice, Mrs. Earhart, Mrs. G. Q. D'Albini and Mrs. J. T. Johnson. Mrs. Stanley Parrish will be in charge of the program and G Mrs. Jnes Cech will give the G devotions. Those who attend should take a 25 cent item for a gift ex change. This afternoon Eastwood church has planned installation ceremonies for the new pastor, the Rev. Richard M. Jones, at 3:30 o'clock, with a reception for the minister and his wife to follow. Member Honored By Bridge Club On Anniversary Riverside Bridge club mem bers honored one of their mem bers, Mrs. Josephine Clark, in observance of her 87th birthday when they met for a master point play Wednesday, Decem ber 7. Thirty-six bridge players attended from M e d f o r d and Camp White. A buffet luncheon was served and Mrs. Richard Milestone fur nished a decorated birthday cake which she had made for the occasion. Mrs. Clark received a corsage from Mrs. Mary van Fleet, direc tor of the Cavendish Bridge club in Portland, of which Mrs. Clark is a charter member. The honor ed guest also was presented many gifts. . North-souttj winners at the session were first, Mrs. G. E. Mernin and Roy Pruitt, who scored 144 points; Mrs. F. R. Baker and Mrs. W. W. Steven son, second, with 125 points; Mrs. Edna Miller and Mrs. Fred Rehling, third, I2IV2, and Mrs. Milestone and Dr. George Dean, fourth,""118. In the east-west positions Mrs. Dean and Miss Isobel Stuart re ceived first place with 126V points; Mrs. Berg Marten and Mrs. Jack Mitchell, second, 125; Mrs. Yvonne Dalen and Mrs. C. L. Howard, third, 120, and Mrs. B. B. Hughes and Mrs. H. J. Boyd, fourth, 118. Patriarch Visits Encampment Here R. P. Stolsig, Coburg, Ore., made an official visit to the Table Rock encampment, Patri archs Militant, December 8 at the Medford Odd Fellows, hall. He is patriarch of the Oregon encampment. Also at the same meeting was Maj. Gen. Ed C. Abbey, Kerby, O r e., department commander who made a fraternal visit. Elections were held, during the meeting and Jack McDaniels was elected chief patriarch; Ben Wertz, high priest; Alonzo Haz en and Fred Daugherty, senior and junior wardens, respective ly; Riley Applegate, scribe, and E. W. Pease, treasurer. Others who made fraternal visits at that time were Mr. Ap plegate, a district deputy, and Col. William H. Dyer, of the department second brigade. They received their crowns from Don Coghill, a former vice-president of the student body. 'Annual Winter Wonderland Ball Given By Talent High School; Seniors Rule Two seniors, Miss Maxine Johnson and Ray Weinhold, were selected to rule over the annual Winter Wonderland ball at Tal ent High school last Friday night. More than 75 guests saw a for mer vice-president, Don Coghill, crown the king and queen. Other candidates for the honor were Miss Joann Schulz and . Terry Hazelton, juniors; Miss Christine Knudsen and Jerry Baer, sopho mores; Miss Carol' Howard and John Butler, freshmen. Scene of the formal occasion was the gymnasium which was decorated with silver bells and fir trees. A floor centerpiece of a revolving snowman completed the decor. Prospective members who at tended for the first time are Mrs. Glen Fabrick and Mrs. Fred- Club for Youth In Eagle Point To Be Discussed Eagle Point A round table discussion on supervision and aid for the teenage club will be conducted at a meeting of the Eagle Point Parent-Teacher-Student association Wednesday, De cember 14. The meeting will be held in the high school library at 8 p.m. Mrs. Herbert Perdue will pre side. Representatives of the sixth, seventh and eighth grades at Eagle Point . grade school are invited to participate in the dis cussion.
