Werner To Be Honored at Annual Demo Picnic Democratic State Chairman Howard Morgan will attend the annual Jackson County Demo cratic picnic to be held Sunday at TouVelle State park, begin ning at noon, it was announced today. Morgan, accompanied to Med ford by Mrs. Morgan and their children, will give a brief talk reporting on recent party devel opments. -Duncan To Be MC Attorney Robert B. Duncan will be master of ceremonies of the, picnic program which will pay' tribute to Mrs. W. G. Wer ner, Democratic Party worker for many years. Democrats throughout the county will observe "Elsie Wer ner Day"c at the picnic, which will be served buffet style. Pot luck dishes, such as fried chick en, pie and cake are requested of those attending by Foods Chairman Mrs. Jesse Wagner and her committee. Picnic Committee County Chairman Robert A. Boyer will welcome out of town guests, while Attorney William V. Deatherage will act as general chairman of the picnic, assisted by Mrs. L. Peers Wilmeth and Sidney Ainsworth, Ashland; Mrs. Dee Newton, Valley View; Larry Sheehan, Rogue River; Mrs. Al bert Straus, Sams Valley; Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Norton. President in Capital To Clean Up Chores Washington (U.R) Presi dent Eisenhower returned to the White House yesterday from his Gettysburg, Pa., farm to clean up some government chores before leaving for a Colorado vacation. The president left Gettysburg at 7:05 a.m. and arrived here at 9 a.m. Part of the way he drove through a light rain. It was slightly sunny and muggy when he arrived here. VI V t if MRS. W. G. WERNER Honored by Demos Friends To Meet In Idaho City Representatives from Quaker churches throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Bolivia, S.A., will move to the nation's largest rural church at Green leaf, Ida., Aug. 18 to 23, for the 63rd session of the Oregon year ly meeting of Friends. Clynton G. Crisman will head a Medford group. This will be the second time that Northwest Friends have as sembled for their annual confer ence away from Newberg, Ore., birthplace of Quaker work in the Pacific Northwest area. The Rev. Marshal Cavit, on loan from the World Gospel mis sion to the Friends' Bolivian field, will be the guest speaker at the silver anniversary ob servance of the Bolivian Amayra Indian mission at services on Aug. '19. Guest evangelistic speaker for the conclave will be Dr. Everett L. Cattell, superin tendent of the Ohio Friends mis sion work in India and execu tive secretary of the Evangelical Fellowship of India. Piano, Viola Recital Planned At Festival Theater on Sunday Friday, August 12, 1935 MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE THREE I Ashland The second in the Shakespearean Festival's series of Sunday concerts will feature a piano and viola recital by two guest artists, Mrs. Mabel Pittinger of Mill Valley, Calif.. and Miss Edith Woodcock of Seattle. All of the concerts this year are given from ' the festival theatre stage at 5 o'clock on Sunday afternoons and all are free to the public. Mrs. Pittinger is now director of music at Tamalpais High school at Mill Valley and was formerly a violist with the Seat tle Symphony orchestra and violinist with the Cleveland Symphony orchestra. Miss Wood cock teaches piano at the Uni versity of Washington and is a music research scholar. The program will include a viola concerto by Telemann, a harpsichord sonata by Galuppi, and dance forms of the 16th and 17th centuries by composers in cluding Byrd, Lully, Locatelli and Corelli. The concerts are part of the expanded music program sched uled this year by Bernard Windt festival music director, which includes half hour programs by strolling musicians and singers before the plays, incidental music for the plays, and special lectures and displays of the in- Medford Beauticians Plan Family Picnic For Sunday Afternoon Medford unit of the Oregon Beauticians' association will hold the annual potluck picnic Sunday, August 14 at Jackson I Hot springs. - The event will begin at noon, and is for mem bers and their families. Roseburg, Klamath Falls and Grants Pass units of the associa tion have been invited to join with the local group. Those attending are asked to take a picnic lunch and table service.
