Fran Cronin will call the squares. , Arrested A 15-year-old Eagle Point boy was arrested by state police last night on a charge of curfew violation after the car he was driving was involved in a minor accident at the inter section of Spring st. and Pierce rd. The car went through a bar racade on private property and then skidded off the road, police said. Kansas Picnic The annual picnic of the Southern Oregon Kansas association will be held Sunday, Aug. 14, at 1 p.m., in Lithia park. All former Kansans are invited. Those who attend should take a picnic lunch and table service for their own group. The association will pro vide coffee and ice cream. A pro gram is planned for the after noon. Intersection Mishap Cars operated by William Orlie Ham, route 3, box 349G, Medford, and Eugene Howard, 115 Kenwood ave., collided a 8:22 a.m. yes terday at the intersection of Ninth and Riverside ave., ac cording to Medford city police. Earlier, at 4:15 a.m., a truck-auto-accident occurred at the in tersection of Court and Mana zita sts., police said. Sidney Miles Pierce was the driver of a Los Angeles-Seattle Motor Express truck and trailer which collided with a car operated by Thomas William Slattery, Box 114, Camp White. Accident Reported State po- I lice were called to the scene of a reported accident on Highway 99 at Rogue View inn, north of Rogue river, at about 9 p.m. yes terday. Investigating officers found that vehicles involved in the mishap had left the scene and no further details were learned. Claim Filed P. J. August 12. 1S55 Obituary Notices GEORGE EATON Funeral services for George Malcom Eaton, 79. who died in a local hospital Tuesday, were held today at Chapel Mortuary, with the Rev. D. E. Millard of Eagle Point officiating. Inter ment was in Siskiyou Memorial park. The deceased was born in Nebraska on Sept. 12, 1875. He came to Grants Pass in 1937, and to the Medford area in 1943, where he was employed in the hop yards in the Applegate area for a number of years. There are no known survivors. Inspections Fire Marshal Truman Nelson yesterday con ducted inspections of five busi ness occupancies and investi gated five complaints from resi c'ential areas. Ten orders for correction of hazardous condi tions were issued. Brown, 602 South Grape st., who died in a local hospital Tuesday, were held at the graveside in Siski you Memorial park today with the Rev. G. H. Hillerman, pastor of the Zion Luteran church offi ciating. Chapel Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. The infant was born in Med ford last Tuesday. FREIGHTER ON ROCKS Bermuda (U.R) (J. S. Navy rescue boats went to the aid of the British freighter "Wytch wood" today after the vessel be came lodged on some rocks 10 miles off Bermuda. The freight er hooked on to the rocks Thurs day and began to leak. No ex planation for the accident was disclosed.
