Arrested A 15-year-old Eagle
Point boy was arrested by state
police last night on a charge of
curfew violation after the car
he was driving was involved in
a minor accident at the inter
section of Spring st. and Pierce
rd. The car went through a bar
racade on private property and
then skidded off the road, police
said.
Kansas Picnic The annual
picnic of the Southern Oregon
Kansas association will be held
Sunday, Aug. 14, at 1 p.m., in
Lithia park. All former Kansans
are invited. Those who attend
should take a picnic lunch and
table service for their own

99 at Rogue View inn, north of
Rogue river, at about 9 p.m. yes
terday. Investigating officers
found that vehicles involved in
the mishap had left the scene
and no further details were
learned.

GEORGE EATON
Funeral services for George
Malcom Eaton, 79. who died in
a local hospital Tuesday, were
held today at Chapel Mortuary,
with the Rev. D. E. Millard of
Eagle Point officiating. Inter
ment was in Siskiyou Memorial
park.
The deceased was born in
Nebraska on Sept. 12, 1875. He
came to Grants Pass in 1937, and
to the Medford area in 1943,
where he was employed in the
hop yards in the Applegate area
for a number of years.
There are no known survivors.

Lea Brown, infant daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth H. Brown,
602 South Grape st., who died
in a local hospital Tuesday, were
held at the graveside in Siski
you Memorial park today with
the Rev. G. H. Hillerman, pastor
of the Zion Luteran church offi
ciating. Chapel Mortuary was
in charge of arrangements.
The infant was born in Med
ford last Tuesday.
Besides her parents, survivors
include a brother, Allen Ray;
her paternal grandfather, Ar
thur E. Brown; and her maternal
grandmother, Mrs. Agnes Mor
rison, all of Medford.
FREIGHTER ON ROCKS

the British freighter "Wytch
wood" today after the vessel be
came lodged on some rocks 10
miles off Bermuda. The freight
er hooked on to the rocks Thurs
day and began to leak. No ex
planation for the accident was
