Order of Easter Star, were conducted at the Central Point Masonic temple December 30. Installed worthy matron of the chapter -was Mrs. Luther H. Day, Medford, who succeeds Mrs. Rex Note, Medford. Mrs. Harold Head furnished a piano solo for the new worthy patron and also played a selection for the new associate matron and patron. Mrs. McGrew gave an ad dendum for the worthy matron and the 1955 courtesy girls. Members of the Central Point bethel of Jobs daughters gave Mrs. Day a gift and pledged their support. - . Grandchildren of Mrs. Day gave her a gavel which was pre sented to her by a grandson, Luther Joe Horsley of Klamath Falls. The other grandchildren are Chandelle and Alice Marie Horsley, also of Klamath Falls, who lighted the candles, and Ann and Bill Cooper of San ... Francisco. A basket of flowers also was presented to Mrs. Day as a gift from relatives in Idaho. Melvin : McGrew, retiring worthy patron, presented a past matron's jewel to Mrs. Note as a gift from the chapter. Mrs. Note then presented Mr. Mc Grew a past patron's jewel. - Decorations in the chapter room and the dining room were done by Mrs. C. L. Chew, Mrs! F. Russell, Mrs. Ted Flury and Mrs. O. Fathers to Conduct Meeting in Gold Hill Gold Hill Gold1 Hill Parent- Teacher' association will meet Thursday, January 13 at 8 pn. in the school gymnasium. Dad's will take' over for the evening, conducting the business meeting and refreshments will be served by fathers of children in the fourth grade. fl. P. Jewett, superintendent of district 6, will speak on cur- cent problems and needs facing the school district. Davis-Stephens Rites are Held In Logan Temple j ' News of interest hera is the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Garold Niel Davis at the Logan temple, Latter Day Saints, at Logan, Utah. Mrs. Davis is the former Miss Norma Dell ; Stephens, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn J. Leslie, 582 C street, Ashland. The ; ceremony took place at 8 o'clock in the evening December 29. ; - y- . Mr. Davis '. is the son of Mr. ana Mrs. William Davis, 1040 Clay street, Ashland. Both he and the bride are Ashland High school graduates, and both also attended Southern Oregon col lege. A reception was held in the Latter Day Saints church at Ash land. A large number of rela tives and friends from this area attended. Scientists think using the rice flour may solve other problems of changes in consistency of can ned foods, it is reported. - A bulletin on "Freezing Com bination Main Dishes" may be obtained from the county home extension office by calling at the oiiic .in the courthouse. r Lady Annual Report On Toy Project A report on the annual, toy project of Medford Lady Lions was given at a dinner meeting of the group held at Rogue Val ley Country club Tuesday eve ning. Twenty attended. The report of the project car ried on jointly each, year with Medford Fire department, was prepared by the club president, Mrs. Alva Perkins,, and read by Mrs. Alan Jewett According to the report, 497 children in 153 families were supplied with toys and dolls. A total of .227 dolls were distributed, along with 60 stuffed dolls and animals. -" As they were finished by fire men, - the toys were stored at Consolidated Freightways until time for distribution. "Employees of the freight company then do nated their days off to move the toys to St. Mark's Guild hall where Lady . Liona and., their husbands met . to sort, box and mark the toys for the families. ' "It would be. impossible tp personally thank all; those .who helped 'in making., this project a success this year" Mrs. Perkins states, "and we' express our gratitude to .all who assisted."- - - Guests at .Tuesday's dinner were Mrs. Jerry Lausmann and Mrs, Lucille Ortiz.
