American Embassy Forced to Change Homes in Moscow Moscow OJ.P.)- The U. S. em bassy has got to give up its building just across the street from the Kremlin. The embassy disclosed Mon day night that the Soviet govern ment had notified it that' the $62,500-a-year lease on "the em bassy building would expire Dec. 31 and would not be re newed. The building, like all municipal real estate, is owned by the Moscow Soviet leaking New Building The "office for serving the diplomatic corps," a branch of the Soviet Foreign Ministry, said in the same letter of notification that it was searching for another building to serve as the Amerk can embassy. It said the present building on Mokhovaya street would be taken over by the Moscow Uni versity, which already occupies an adjacent building. The U. S. embassy will lose one of the choicest locations in Moscow. Its balconies and roof tops offer excellent views of the traditional parades and demon strations in Red Square, which goes diagonally across the street. An embassy spokesman said no alternative building yet has been offered. Rare Operation Success At Philadelphia Hospita Philadelphia U.R) The Pennsylvania Hospital Tuesday announced the success of a rare operation in which part of dead man's aorta, the body largest blood vessel, was trans mlanted into a living nerson. The operation was performed on John Chatman, 48, pnuaaei rhia. who was admitted to the hospital a month ago suffering from a weakening of the wall of the aorta. When polio, is around, the National Foundation cautions parents to watch for these signs: headache, fever, sore throat, upset stom ach tenderness and stiffness of neck and back. A person showing such symptoms should be put to bed at once, away from others. Then, call your doctor and fellow his advice. If polio is diagnosed, call your local chapter of the March of Dimes for advice and , assistance, including needed financial help. GOP Convention Sidelights Include Salute for General, Broken Seals, Poll of Votes Chicago - (U.R) Sidelights of the GOP Convention: Gen. Douglas MacArthur got something new in the way of military salutes as he left Con vention Hall after his keynote speech Monday night. About 40 uniformed Chicago policemen flanked the exit through which MacArthur pass ed en route to his waiting limou sine. Present Arms As the general reached the exit a police sergeant barked: "Present arms." The policemen dutifully held up their night sticks. The Republicans are taking extra precautions against cate crashers after discovering that someone had broken the paper seals pasted across the exit doors at Convention Hall Monday. Doors Sealed The seals enabled patrolling ushers to tell at a glance whether anyone inside the hall was ad mitting unauthorized persons through the exit doors. Head usher Andy Frain replaced the seals and hired 30 more ushers. The Puerto Rican delegation to the Republican Convention drew a big laugh during the roll call vote on delegate contest rules. When the roll reached Puerto Rico, one member of the delegation demanded an indi vidual poll of his delegation. Get Big Laugh Conventioneers from such big states as lew - York, with 96 delegates, and California with 70, roared with laughter. Puerto has three delegates. Hillbilly Jambcree Slated at Prospect Prospect The Prospect Hill billy Jamboree will be held July 19 and 20 with one of the high lights being the Queen contest sponsored by local organizations. Average Liquor BUI $60 in US Last Year Washington (U,R) The Com merce Department reported Tuesday that Americans spent an average of almost $60 last year for wine, bee" and liquor. Clarke, one cf Eng land's leading authorities on space travel, believes flying sau cers are more than mirages or myths. The former. Royal Air Force flight officer said he based his belief on new data on saucers supplied him by scientists at the United States' rocket testing base at White Sands, N.M. Clarke, who arrived here Sun day from White Sands, said he was "beginning to think there's more to the flying saucer mys tery than just a mirage." He was ready to guarantee the disks are real, but said "a noted American scientist told me at White Sands that he is certain he has seen one." Mercy Flight Takes Couple to California A Mercy Flights air ambulance yesterday flew a couple injured in a Shady Cove accident about a month ago to their home in Glendale, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hooper had been in Com munity hospital from the time of their accident. Mr. and Mrs. Hooper and his mother were flown in Mercy Flights' twin-engined Cessna by Pilot George Millican. The plane left at 7 a. m. Monday and ar rived in Glendale at 11:43 a. m.
