The Wrights spent three years in Portland where Wright was an employee In the Veteran Administration offices. They plan to live in their home In Central Point as soon as it is vacated. Photographers, Radiomen Seeking Ringside Seats For Tuesday GOP Meeting Chicago (U.R) Photo graphers, movie cameramen and radio reporters Saturday fought for permission to attend a crucial meeting of the Repub lican National Committee to choose between contested dele gations to the GOP convention. The national committee will make an original decision on the contested state delegations, but the convention as a whole, which convenes July 7, will be the final court of appeal. Some Assured Place Newspaper and press associa tion reporters already were as sured that the meeting next Tuesday will be open to them. But it still had not been de termined whether cameramen and radio reporters using re cording devices would be per mited to work while the meet ing is in progress. "The committee is anxious to avoid the confusion of exploding flash bulbs and the circus atmos phere of movie lights and micro phones," a spokesman said. Only Reporters "Right now it looks as though only reporters will be permitted to hear the proceedings." Several news picture and mo vie news organizations protest ed to National Republican Chair man Guy Gabrielson, demand ing that the meeting be thrown open to them. Eugene Woman Arrives in Japar To Start New Polio Treatments Osaka, Japan (U.R) An American mother from Oregon suffering from infantile paraly sis arrived Friday for treatment by a Japanese doctor who claims to have discovered a drug 90 per cent effective as a cure for the disease. Mrs. W. K. Bennington of Eu gene, Ore., mother of two, read a newspaper report about the new drug "Glutamylcholin" dis covered by Dr. Hoshito Nishiza wa and decided to travel all the way to the Far East to become his patient. High Rate of Cure Nishizawa, a professor at Osa ka university, reported to the Japan Epidemiology Congress on April 4 that the use of the new drug along with a "vitamin B" Injection into the spine showed a rate of cure of 90 per cent for infantile paralysis. Mrs. Bennington arrived here with one leg in a steel brace. The Japanese doctor was re luctant to discuss the case "at the present time." Speece, whose wife, Eloise, lives at route 1, box 153 Talent, is returning to the United States on rotation af ter serving with the 3rd infantry division in Korea, according to an army release mailed from Korea June 18. Corporal Speece, a wheeled vehicle mechanic, arrived in Korea in September,' 1951. He received his basic training at Ft. Lewis, Wash. Before entering the army in January, -1951, he was employed by the Fruit Growers Supply, Hilt, Calif. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Walter F. Speece, 63 Third street, Ashland. Milwaukie, Ore. (U.R) A middle-aged man identified as Edward Donner, Milwaukie, was fatally injured Friday when his car collided with another in the downtown section here. Obituary GRAYSON ROBERTSON Grayson C. Robertson, 78, a resident of Medford the past four years, died here Wednes day. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Perl funeral home. The Rev. George R. V. Bolster, rector of St. Mark's Episcopal church, will officiate. Interment will take place in Siskiyou Memorial park. Med ford Masonic Lodge 103 will par ticipate in the services. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Furnas, B. L. Sanderson, Merritt Swing, Carl Tengwald, Ernest Scott and William Froh nmayer. Active pallbearers will be Fred Gatter, Aubrey Norris, Carl Norris, Vic Kengla, Joe Fliegel and Paul Meyers. Robertson was born at Prices Creek, N. C, and was educated at Burnsville academy and the University of North Carolina. He was long associated with the U. S. fish and wild life service. He, was a member of First Methodist church of Medford and of the Medford Masonic lodge. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Linda Robertson; one son Harvey, Medford; a sister, Mrs. Sarah Jane Rowland, Burnsville, N. C, two grandchildren and 24 nephews and nieces. BIRTHS Fractured Ribs George Ob- enchaine, Rogue River, was treated and released at the Com munity hospital Saturday for several fractured ribs which re sulted from an accident in his home, hospital attendants. Hueners, Jacksonville, has been promoted to lieutenant colonel at Langley air force base, Va., according to an air force release. Colonel Hueners, a veteran World War II pilot, holds the air medal and the army commenda tion ribbon. Combat Infantryman r Army Pfc. Garland D. Winkle, Eagle Point, has been awarded the combat infantryman badge while serving with the 25th in fantry division in ' Korea, an army release reports. Winkle, an automatic rifleman, was engaged in ranching before entering the army. At Summer Camp Verne G. Shangle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Verne Shangle, 1445 Kings high way, is attending air force ROTC supper camp at McChord air force hase, Wash., according to the McChord public informa tion office. He is one of 188 men attending the camp in prepara tion for becoming reserve offic ers in the air force. Aboard Ship Serving aboard the USS Helena as fireman ap prentice is Allen M. Kievet, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kievet, route 3, box 369, Medford, ac cording to a Navy release. Kie vet left for Japan from San Francisco, June 6 to board the USS Helena. He joined the naval reserve in Medford, December, 1950 and received his basic training at San Diego, Calif. Captian Leaves After spend ing a week with his parents, Captain Robert Pittenger, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Pittenger, Route 2, Medford, returned to the United States air force base at Shepperd field, Texas, where he is a doctor at the base hospit al. Before entering the air force a year ago, Captain Pittenger graduated from the University of Oregon medical school. He graduated from Medford high school in 1943. To Attend Meeting Mr. and Mrs. Clarence R. Schmidt, 944 Whitman avenue, and Eugene C. Brown, 2 North Orange street, were scheduled to leave Med ford Saturday for Lake Tahoe where they will attend a meet ing of Metropolitan Life Insur ance company employees. Schmidt and Brown are two of leading representatives of the company in sales for the state during 1951, according to a. com pany release. e On USS IowaTwo Medford men, Sgt. Henry G. McCullough, U. S. Marine corps, and Jerald J. McGrew, U. S. navy radarman, are aboard the battleship USS Iowa in Korean waters, a navy release reports. Sgt. McCullough is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. McCullough, 122 Willamette. Seaman McGrew is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin W. Mc Grew, Route 2, Medford. Ernest L. Kitsmiller,' of Prospect, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Scotty H. McCollum, is also on the Iowa. He is an apprentice seaman. On Vacation Vern and Roy Lay, 667 South Holly street, and Allan Young, 525 Franquette street, left Saturday for a one week vacation to be spent in various parts of Idaho. Promotion Recently promot ed from captain to major was Ben W. Hansen whose wife and family live in Medford. Major Hansen is now home on leave, but will leave for a new assign ment in Washington, D. Osenbrugge, 711 East Main, Medford returned home from Portland this week, bringing their daughter Margaret, who has had surgery at Matson Me morial hospital there. - Director Attends Col. C. E. Stafford, civilian defense direc tor of Jackson county, is attend ing the special CD conference for teachers and school adminis trators being held at St. Mary's college, Calif., starting Monday through Wednesday. Stolen Wheel Edward E. Chancellor, 437 Benson street, reported to the city police Fri day afternoon that a wheel was stolen from a pick-up truck parked by his home. The thief took the wheel, tire and tube, Chancellor said. Assumes Name Wallace G. Iverson, Medford, has assumed the business name of the South ern Oregon News Review, 38 East Main street, Ashland, ac cording to county clerk's rec ords. William C.
