In case you have something in the attic that you aren't quite sure about, a lute is a pear shaped instrument, alleged to be musical, stringed, and with a long "neck." The rare instrument is sought by Hans Lampl, music director for the Shakespearean festival, who wants to use one in the new Elizabethan music program here this year. Lampl will arrive In Ashland late this week, and will invite all local musicians, whether in, strumentalists or vocalists, to meet him and audition for the new program at the festival. Festival officials stressed that the program would be full-time work for only a few musicians, since the director plans to use various groups alternately dur ing the season. Rehearsal sched ules will probably be set to accomodate the musicians.' And whether the lute is found or not, the program will go on.
