Women golfers from eight Oregon cities played the Rogue Valley Country club course Thursday when the Willamette Valley-Southern Oregon Women's Golf association held the annual spring tournament here. An even 100 women played, the largest number ever to participate in a women's tournament here, and 137 attended the luncheon which followed in the clubhouse. Davies, the former Helen Thompson, (at left) took the Class A low gross honors with a 79, and Mrs. James Snider held the low gross score in the Class C division. Mrs. Davies is women's champion of Rogue Valley Country club. Mrs. Snider, one of the local club's newer players, displays a big smile over the fact that she "broke a hundred" for the first time since taking up golf. Also playing in the tournament were Mrs. C. B. Collins, Med ford, and Mrs. Earl Sims, formerly of this city and now of Grants Pass. The two are pictured (at right) on the 18th green after fin ishing their games, with Mrs. Collins (at left). As the players came in from the course they first congregated around the score board and then after changing from their golfing togs gathered in groups for cool drinks and other re freshments, since the day was bright and warm.
