S Remodeling Done At Groceteria; Reopens Saturday The Groceteria atore at Sixth and Grape streets will reopen at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow after being closed several days for exten sive remodeling. Weekdays the atore hours are 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The entire store has been re arranged and new equipment added. Featured are several Friedrich refrigerator serve-your-self units, including a com plete meat self-service depart ment. A recent national survey Indicates that 51.90 per cent per sons like self-service meats and 48.10 do not, according to "Bill" Gates, president of the Groce teria. The drug department now will be in the center of the store and purchases from there will be checked through with other store purchases, and not separ ately as in the past, Gates said. This, he explained, saves time and effort for the customers. The new refrigeration service includes added cases In the pro duce and dairy departments. Savings Bond Sales Holding Steady Purchase of defense savings bonds In Jackson county are holding fairly steady neither rising nor declining It was re ported today by Morris B. Leon ard Sr., county chairman for the sale of U.S. bonds. During April, $38,000 in E bonds were sold in the county for a total of $190,2S8 so far this year, Leonard said. Throughout the state, the trend in sales also is steady, he said, with $1,550,387 in Series E bonds sold in April, for a total of $7,129,078 for the first four months of 1952. Retired BLM Engineer Opens Survey Office Grants Pass Norman D Price, engineer with the Bureau of Land Management for 32 years, has opened a land and mineral survey firm here after retiring from the BLM earlier this month. Price made surveys before World War I on which section corners in Jackson and Josephine counties are based. I On his retirement, Price re ceived the silver badge award and a certificate for outstanding j service from Oscar L. Chapman, I secretary of interior.
