Mar 1,51 Formal Ball Held Saturday Evening At Ashland School Ashland The annual spring formal dance sponsored by the women's dormitory at Southern Oregon college was held last evening at Susanne Homes hall, Miss Careen Molthu, Coquille, was chairman. "Garden in the Rain" was decoration theme of the ball. Belle Van Dyke's Medford or chestra played. E. Staples and Mrs. Dwight Findley recently hon ored Miss Mary Miksche at a shower party, the event being in the Staples home on Euclid avenue. Miss Miksche, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Mik sche is the fiancee of Peter Trim, Saskatoon, Canada. The wedding has been set for June 7 at Sa cred Heart Catholic church. The guests presented Miss Miksche with a gift from the group, and each guest also tiave her a nonsense gift. Hu ber whose wedding was an event of May 3 at 10:30 a.m. in Ash land. Mrs. Huber is the former Mrs. Katharine E. Trude. Mr. Huber owns the Evergreen Bus lines. The bride was attended by Mrs. Eugene Thompson, and Mr. Thompson served as the best man. For her marriage the bride wore a powder blue suit with white accessories. Her flowers were a talisman rosebud cor sage. Her attendant wore a beige suit with white accessories and her corsage was white car nations. The couple made a wedding trip to Portland, and Camas, Wash. They plan to move to their new home on Oak Grove road about June 15. They now live at 333 North Holly street, Apartment 4. About 25 persons attended the reception given by Mr. and Mrs. Matthews, and they gave Mr. and Mrs. Huber a gift for their home. The couple plans to majte an extended trip during summer to Idaho, Yellowstone park, the Black Hills of South Dakota, and Sioux Falls, S. D., where a daughter of Mrs. Huber lives. They also plan to visit a brother to Mr. Huber in Oklahoma; and in San Diego, Calif. Mrs. James Campbell Named New President Of Medford Lady Lions The Medford Lady Lions elect ed Mrs. James Campbell presi dent of their group during a meeting May 13 in Eatons Din ing house. She will serve with Mrs. Frank English, vice-president; Mrs. Norman Burke, secretary; Mrs. Thomas Flynn, treasurer; and Mrs. Dwight Johnson, Lion trainer. Mrs. Addie Wilson, a charter member, was given an honorary membership. A guest of the members was Mrs. Robert Urie. The group voted to give four campships to Girl Scouts selected by their leaders, the scouts to use the campship to spend a week at Low Echo at Lake o' Woods. Delegates to a state conven tion at Salem, June 8. 9, and 10 were announced. They are Mrs. Kenneth Campbell. Mrs. Archie Fries, Mrs. Kenneth Teeter, Mrs. Lee Mellish. Mrs. Penn Chitwood and Mrs. Dwight Johnson. Altar Society Elects At Meeting Tuesday Mrs. Fred Spiegelberg was elected president of St. Anne's Altar society of Sacred Heart Catholic church during a meet ing Tuesday. Officers who will serve with her are Mrs. Wiliam E. Driscoll, first vice-president; Mrs. Everett Goseh, second vice president; and Mrs. Al Kcrtcs, secretary-treasurer. Plans were made at the meet ing for a rummage sale to be held soon; and a picnic for mem bers and their children in June at Hawthorne park. Mrs. Al Duda and Mrs. C. A. Meunier are co-chairmen for the picnic. Recently the? Altar society presented $1000 to the Very Rev. John Berger for use in St. Mary's school completion campaign. Jackson County Sheriff's posse and its auxiliary organizations, the Ladies' Mount ed troop and Junior posse, are busier this spring than usual. This is the first year that the annual Rogue River Roundup, sponsored by the posse, will be held at the posse grounds. This means that the possemen and the troop women are spending every available hour working on the building program at the grounds. Grandstands had to be built, tie sheds, stock pens and chutes had to be put up, as well as the various other improvements ne cessary for staging a roundup show. In many instances the entire family spends Sunday at the grounds, the children riding horseback and playing games. Women of the troop plan pot luck lunches and at noon the families gather to eat, much the same as an old fashioned picnic. Today at 1:30 p.m. at the posse grounds' arena a queen and two princesses will be se lected to preside at the 10th an nual roundup event June 14 and 15. The public is invited. The young women will be se lected primarily on their riding abilities. The queen will receive as prizes a Stetson hat and a hand embroidered western shirt. Her princesses each will be giv en a western belt. Applications in the contest will be accepted to noon today. The troop members will serve a lunch, also open to the public, at 12:30 p.m. at the club house. A small charge will be made for the lunch but there are no charges for the other activities of the day. Families are invited to come together to spend the day, inspect the buildings, have lunch and attend the judging. Games played on horseback are a part of the program. Six candidates were registered .yesterday in the contest and more are expected this morning. Those who had registered are Mary Lou Larson, Barbara Rob inson, and Shirley Nelson, all Medford and all Junior posse members; Dorothy Thumler, Old Central Point highway; Lorena Millard, Eagle Point, and Joanne Morgan, Medford. The troop has charge of the queen's contest with Mrs. Homer Marx, chairman, and Mrs. W. Paganucci-Auman Rites Take Place In Church Here Miss Norma Auman and Dino L. Paganucci were wed in rites May 15 at 7:15 o'clock in the eve ning at the Sacred Heart catho lic church rectory. The Rev. C, J. Linehan performed the ceremony. The bride Is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Auman of Med ford and the bridegroom, an Air Force sergeant, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Liborio Paganucci, Glen Lyon, Pa. Miss Darline Auman, a sister to the bride, was maid of honor. Arthur E. Gingras, an Air Force staff sergeant, Pittsfield, Mass., was best man. The bride's father gave her in marriage. She wore a grey suit with grey and pink accessories and her cor sage was of white carnations. Her sister wore a navy blue suit with navy blue and white ac cessories. Her flowers were pink carnations. About 25 persons attended the reception at the Auman home. The couple plans a wedding trip to Pennsylvania in the fu ture. The bride attended Medford high school and the bridegroom attended Newport High school in Glen Lyon. 1 Sister Honored At Tea Tuesday Mrs. Sidney G. Tickton left for her home in Arlington, Va., Saturday after having spent 10 days in Medford as a guest of her brother-in-law and sister, Dr. and Mrs. Lawrence Buonocore, 433 West Eighth street. Tuesday atfernoon Mrs. Tick ton was honored at an informal tea given by Mrs. Buoncore for her sister. Pouring during the afternoon were Mrs. A. C. Fries, Mrs. George R. V.
