SfffifS B District Cinder Ruckus Slated for Medford Field Approximately 70 aspirants for berths in the state B high tchool track meet will contend on the Medford oval Saturday in the District No. 3 ruckus. Necessary preliminaries will commence at 10 in the morning and finals at 1:30 In the after noon. At least seven schools are en tered. They are Rogue River, Phoenix, Jacksonville and Tal ent of Jackson county and Hen ley, Merrill and Malin of Klam ath county. There will be no defending champ in the rivalry. Gold Hill, winner in 1951, is now part of Class A Crater high. Rogue River Strong Phoenix, winner of the coun ty meet, and Rogue River will be the strongest Jackson county entries. Rogue River is expected to have the most success Satur day on the basis of nine first places in the county meet. Scoring in the meet will be 10 for first, eight for second, six Enjoy Health. Rest. Northern Victor Play-off Host Los Angeles (U.R) The Northern division representative will be the host to the 1952 Pa cific Coast conference baseball playoff May 30 and 31, It was announced Friday by PCC Com missioner Victor O. Schmidt. One game will be played Fri day and one or two games, as necessary, Saturday to determine the winner in the best two-of-three-games series. Southern California last year defeated Oregon State college in two out of three games played at Los Anueles. The Trojans, as Dis trict 8 representatives, then went on to win third place in the NCAA playoffs. Church League Champs Honored Medford Free Methodist bas ketball squad, 1952 champions of the senior church league, was honored Thursday evening at a championship banquet. The affair was held in the church dining room under the auspices of the WMS and YPMS organizations. Guests of honor were members of the basket ball team and their parents, Coach Ira McDonald, and Don Day and Bob Sparks of the YMCA. Members of the championship squad were: Nolan Day, Fred Furry, Alvin Guches, Jim Hollo way, Bob Hopkins, Calvin Mc Donald, Junior McDonald, Mar vln McKnight, and George Sparks. The victory put Davey in the front ranks of challengers for Kid Gavilan's welterweight crown. Tornado To Face Indians Medford high's baseball nine goes to Roseburg -Saturday for a tangle at 1 in the afternoon. It will be a non-district game Roseburg's record has not been too impressive this season although the Indians now have a record of three wins and no defeat in their own district. Medford, . once beaten in prep play, has already clinched its A-l district diadem and is a waiting play-off with the A-2 winner in this area. The Indians hold at least one win, 4 to 3, over Myrtle Creek which Medford has topped 7 to 2 and 13 to 1. Tbey have lost 9 to 2 to Eugene which appears to be the strongest team in Rose burg's district. Results of the Saturday fray should give a good indication of what Med ford may be able to do If It reaches the state tourney. Medford and Roseburg col lide again Tuesday on the Tor nado field.
