The late Keep Oregon Green Committee Here Holds First Session Eighteen members of Jackson county's 1952 Keep Oregon Green committee met for the first time this year last night. The gathering was a dinner meeting at the Jackson hotel. Al Wiesendanger. Salem, sec retary of the state KOG associa was principal speaker, and led discussion on the problems of conservation and particularly fire prevention. L. L. Simpson, secretary-manager of the Southern Oregon Conservation and Tree Farm as sociation, Is chairman of the committee, and presided at the meeting. The KOG organization is a comedian Fatty Arbuckle, for example, slipped into oblivion after he was acquitted for the sordid death of showgirl Virginia Rappe at a wild party in 1921. Most Men-Ceuied There were 82 forest fires last year on state-protected land in Jackson county, and only six of them were caused by lightning. All others were man-caused, through incendiarism, campers, smokers, debrisburners, loggers, railroads or other causes. Of the man-caused fires, about 85 per cent of the total burned acreage was attributable to logger-set fires.
