Holds First Session
Eighteen members of Jackson
county's 1952 Keep Oregon
Green committee met for the
first time this year last night.
The gathering was a dinner
meeting at the Jackson hotel.

was principal speaker, and led
discussion on the problems of
conservation and particularly
fire prevention.

The KOG organization is a

example, slipped into oblivion
after he was acquitted for the

There were 82 forest fires last
year on state-protected land in
Jackson county, and only six of
them were caused by lightning.
All others were man-caused,
through incendiarism, campers,
smokers, debrisburners, loggers,
railroads or other causes. Of the
man-caused fires, about 85 per
cent of the total burned acreage
was attributable to logger-set
fires.
Progress In the fight against
fire was told by Wiesendanger
and by Simpson, who pointed out
that within the past few years
