Scene of Ceremony
For Phoenix Couple
Phoenix A candlelight cere
mony at 8 o'clock in the evening
March 19 wedded Miss Barbara
Ellen Bayne and Clifford Wal
lace Hutchins. The Rev. C.
Henry Lacy performed the rites
in the Phoenix Church of the
Nazarene before a background
of ferns, palma and baskets of
lavender and white stock with
candelabra. Candles were placed
in each window.
The traditional wedding
march and recessional were
played by Mrs. Arnold F. Korn
stad, pianist, and the wedding
songs were sung by Fred Hall.
About 125 guests attended.
The bride is teacher at
Rogue River high school, and the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert
H. Bayne, Hartley road, Phoe
nix. The bridegroom is a printer
for the M. Dale Newton com
pany. His parents are Mr. and
Mrs. F. C Hutchins, Phoenix.
Miss Doris Stewart, Phoenix,
was maid of honor, and Harry
P. Hutchins. Phoenix, was best
man for his brother.
Keith Bayne, a brother of the
bride, was usher. ,
The bride, given In marriage
by her father, wore a gown of
ivory satin with scalloped yoke
on the skirt and train designed
as a part of the skirt. Her net
veil was trimmed with lace and
Was held in place with a coronet
of blossoms. She carried a white
Bible with a white orchid.
Miss Stewart's gown was of
nlle green taffeta with net over
skirt. She carried a colonial
bouquet of lavender and white
stock.
About 100 guests attended the
reception held in the church
parsonage. Mrs. Evelyn Womels
dorf completed serving the wed
ding cake. Mrs. Gerald Hutch
ins served punch. Mrs. Fred Hall
was in charge of the guest book.
From out of town for the wed
ding were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas
C. Hutchins and family, Eureka,
Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Clarence R.
Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Keith A.
Brown and family, Mr. and Mrs.
Barham, all of Salem; and Mr.
and Mrs. M. E. Skinner, Coos
Bay.
The couple will live in Rogue
River until the close of the cur
rent school year.
They made a wedding trip to
the California coast and Hum
boldt bay area.
The bride is a graduate of
Ashland schools and Northwest
Nazarene college. The bride
groom attended Humboldt State
college at Areata, Calif.

Miss Hale Married
To Ensign Walker
In Church Service
Ashland Miss Darlene Hale,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Zittercob, Ashland, became the
bride of Ensign Robert S. Walk
er in an evening ceremony
March 19 at Trinity Episcopal
church, Ashland. The bride
groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs.
John Walker of Honolulu, Ha
waii. Relatives and close friends
of the . families attended the
service.
The bride, whose father gave
her in marriage,, wore a gray
spring suit with dark accesso
ries and carried a bouquet of
gardenias encircled with lilies-of-the-valley.
Miss Mildred Zittercob, sis
ter pf the bride and maid-of-honor,
wore a winter white suit
with dark accessories and carried
daffodils. The bride's mother
wore a blue spring suit.
Dennis McCoy was best man.
The wedding music - was
played by Miss Edna Daugher
ty and Miss Sarah Peters sang.
Following the wedding a re
ception and dinner was held at
"The Shack" in Shady Cove with
14 persons present. The recep
tion dinner was given . by' the
grandparents of the bride,x Mr.
and Mrs. George Goswick.
Mrs. Walker, a registered
nurse, was graduated from Ash
land high school and Good Sa
maritan School of Nursing in
Portland. Ensign Walker is a
graduate of Honolulu high
school and Princeton university
in New Jersey. The couple flew
to Groton, Conn., where Ensign
Walker will attend Coast Guard
school for the next four months
and Mrs. Walker will work in
the hospital there.
Nurses To Meet
Jackson County Licensed
Practical Nurses' association
will meet Monday, March 31,
at 7:30 p.m. in Community hos
pital penthouse. Dr. Jack Ingram
will be the guest speaker. All
licensed practical nurses, prac
tical nurses and nurses aides are

An event of Sunday, March 23, was the wedding of Miss
Charlotte Walker, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. L. Paul Walker, 408
South Oakdale avenue, to Gordon Marx, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ho
mer. Marx, 1985 Kings highway. The double-ring rites, read at
2 o'clocok in the afternoon by the rector, the Rev. George R. V.

tions, snapdragons, stock and
white daffodils decorated the
church, and white satin bows
with red rosebuds decorated the
ends of the pews.
Miss Duane Maddox was solo
ist and Mrs. Ernest Conrad was
at the organ.
The bride wore a ballerina
length white organdy dress with
tucked sleeveless bodice and full
skirt. A Juliet cap of seed pearls
held her shouldre-length veil
and she carried white carnations
and stephanotis.
Mrs. La Verne Truax was ma-
tron-of-honor for her sister. She
wore a frock of blue organdy
designed to match that of the
bride, and carried a bouquet of
mixed spring blossoms. Miss
Sonja Jorgenson,' cousin of the
bridegroom, was bridesmaid,
and Mrs. Gordon Allard, sister
of the bridegroom from Darwin,
Cal., was bridesmatron. Their
frocks matched that worn by
the bride, Miss Jorgenson wear
ing yellow and Mrs. Allard
coral, and they carried bouquets
of spring blossoms. All the at
tendants wore floral halos.
Miss Sara Eaton, Astoria, was
flower girl. She wore a pastel
organdy frock with a bandeau of
flowers on her hair. Miss Molly
Walker, sister of the bride, and
Miss Claudia Arnold, cousin of
the bride, were ring-bearers.
Their frocks were of green or
gandy and they wore floral headpieces.
For her daughter's wedding,
Mrs. Walker wore a suit of off-
white bengaline with white hat
and white purple-throated or
chid. The bridegroom's mother
wore a suit of gray faille with
small hat and mauve orchid cor
sage, j
Dr. Walker gave his daughter
in marriage and Thomas Sloane,
Phoenix, was best man for Mr.
Marx. Ushers were Archer Rich
ardson, Harold Hulse and Cliff
Lawrence.
For the reception Mrs. Cliff
Lawrence presided at' the punch
bowl and Miss Sue Harris took
charge of the guest book. Mrs.
Orval Eaton, Astoria, Ore.; Mrs.
George Harrington and Mrs.
Bruce Stanley poured coffee and
Mrs. Macey Arnold and Mrs. Ray
Frisbie cut the wedding cake.
Mrs." Del Berg and' Mrs. M. P.
Vogel assisted in serving.
The bride's table was decorat
ed with a profusion of purple
violets and garlands of green
ery with gardenias.
Mr. Marx and his bride made
a brief wedding trip to the coast
and will live at Eugene, Ore.,
where Mr. Marx is attending the
University of Oregon. Both the
bride and bridegroom were
graduated from Medford sen
ior high school and the bride
attended Oregon State and
Southern Oregon colleges.

Two Students Spend
Vacation Week Here
Frank Morris, freshman at the
I University of Washington, Seat
tle, has been spending spring
vacation with Dr. and Mrs.
Dwight Findley, 36 Glen Oak
court. The student brought with
him another freshman, Collen
Cruikshank. Both are members
of Phi Delta Theta fraternity.
Young Morris makes his home
with the Findleys.
Dr. and Mrs. Findley, with
their daughter, Diane, and son,
Jackie, drove to Salem last
week-end to attend the annual
Freshman Glee of Willamette
university. Another daughter,
Miss Jeanene Findley, is a fresh
man at the university and was
chairman of the entertainment
committee.
The Findleys were joined in
Salem by the two University of
Washington students.

To Albert Kantor
Miss Jean French became the
bride of the Rev. Albert Kantor
in a double ring ceremony held
March 9 in the Dos Pablos,
Calif., Community church.
The bride was given in mar
riage by her uncle, O. E. Chil
dreth, Medford.
She wore a white satin gown
with full lenth train and long
net veil. Her circular bouquet
was of white iris and stephano
tis.
Miss Marion Clark, Fresno,
Calif., was the bride's only at
tendant. She wore yellow or
gandy and carried a bouquet of
yellow carnations. David Brown
of Dos Pablos served as best
man.
Spring flowers and palms
aecorated the church.
Mrs. Lou French, mother of
the bride, wore a navy dress
with a corsage of pink gardenias,
The bride was graduated from
Medford high school and Los
Angeles Bible Institute and is
now teaching at Firebaugh,
Calif.
The Rev. Kantor is a graduate
of Moody Bible Institute of Chi
cago. After a brief wedding trip to
Carmel and other California
coastal towns, the couple will
live at route 2, box S48.
Also attending the wedding
from Medford was Mrs. Chil
dreth, the bride's aunt.
Wagner Creek Group
Plans Spanish Dinner
Talent Plans for a Spanish
dinner were discussed by the
sewing and painting groups of
Wagner Creek Community club,
at a joint meeting held Tuesday.
April 22 has been set for the
dinner and tickets may be pur
chased from any member of the
club. Mrs. Roscoe Talbott is in
charge of general arrangements.
Moving pictures will provide
after-dinner entertainment.

Five Sisters Hold
Week-End Reunion .
In Gold Hill Home
Gold Hill Five sisters who
had not been together in 43
years, held a family reunion last
week-end in the home of Mrs.
Mary Shaw, one of the sisters.
Attending the reunion were
Mrs. Shaw, Mrs. Eleanor Ga
nong, Gold Hill; Mrs. Louisa
Weigel, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs.
Walter Armstrong, Great Falls,
Mont., and Mrs. Charles Huddle
son, Eureka, Ca.l The sixth
member of the family, Leonard
Beitlich, a brother living in
Spokane, Wash., was unable to
attend.
Mrs. Weigel left Wednesday
night to return to her home. Mrs.
Huddleson was accompanied to
Gold Hill by Mr. Huddleson and
the couple's daughter and son-in-
law, Mr. and Mrs. Irving Mc
Beth, Eureka.
Other guests at the reunion
were Mr. and Mrs. John Stieber,
Gold Hill. '
The sisters were all born in
LaCrosse, Wise, and lived there
for a time as children. Later the
family moved to Great Falls,
Mont. Mrs. Shaw and Mrs.
Ganong have lived in Gold Hill
for the past 10 years.
Author, Lecturer
To Speak in City
For Dinner Club
John Morley, author, lecturer
and well-known foreign corre
spondent, will be the next guest
speaker, Monday, April 14, for
the Rogue Valley Knife and Fork
club. The Rev. George R. V. Bol
ster, president of the club, made
the announcement this week.
Mr. Morley has just returned
from a reporting and lecturing
assignment which took him
around the world and made it
possible for him to interview
leading figures in England, Ger
many, Italy and the Levantine,
India, China and Japan. His lec
ture, "A Correspondent s Report
Around the World," is "no nos
talgic account of things which
occurred way back when but
an up-to-the-minute report on
events which are taking place in
the principal focal poitns of the
world, the club president said.
To Retire
New York (U.R) Kirsten
Flagstad, who announced at a
recent Carnegie hall recital that
it would be her last appearance
on the concert stage, also is bid
ding farewell to opera. She is
currently giving her final five
operatic farewell performances
at the Metropolitan in a revival
of Gluck's "Alcestis."
