A covered dish dinner will be served at 6:30 p. m. with Mrs. W. H. Dyer, Mr. Rosa Young and Mrs. Fred Daugherty on the committee. A business meeting will fol low at 8 p. m. .with Vern Kight. captain of the canton, and Mrs. Vern Kight, president of the auxiliary, presiding. She is a member of the Salem club but now lives in Medford. The officer was presented a corsage by members of the Med ford group. ' Introduced during the dinner were Mrs. Don Ivie, of Ashland, state secretary; and Mrs. Jack Ward, Medford, past state presi dent. Daffodils and lavender pussy willows and lavender tapers were used to decorate the ban quet room. A business meeting was held in the home of Mrs. Olen McCoy, after the dinner. Formal initia tion ceremonies were held with Mrs. Glen Bailey becoming a new member. The state presi dent was also presented a gut for her home. Those attending were Mes- dames Shirrell R. Doty, Olin Mc- Cov. O. S- W a Id en, Lewis Thompson, Claude Cooper, John Daniels, F. A. Krow, Jack Ward, Glen Bailey, Marvin Heidman, P. M. Aldredge and Randy Hug dahl. Refreshments were served by the hostess. Mrs. Cooper won a prize. The. next meeting will be. a "glamqur party" at the Merle Norman studio, March 24 at 7:30 p.m. CKapterBE Holds Annual Election At a meeting held March 4. at the home of Mrs. Louis Brown, Chapter BE of the PEO Sister hood elected officers to serve during the ensuing year. They are president, Mrs. Laurence W. Butler; vice-president,' Mrs. E. P. Leavitt; recording secretary, Mrs. Jack Harris; corresponding secretary, Mrs. L. K. Doty; treasurer, Miss Dorothy Wilson; chaplain, Mrs. Fletcher T. Fish; guard, Mrs. Reuben M. Johnson. Mrs. Butler was elected dele gate to the state convention to be held in Portland June 18-20. The chapter will meet at the home of Mrs. Allan F. Perry, 105 Geneva street, Tuesday, March 18, at 8 p. m. Mrs. Butler is assistant hostess, and Mrs. Maude A. Holmes and Mrs. Brown will be in charge of the program. A furniture scratch will, not be so noticeable if you rub the meat of a nut into it. Bray announces the engagement of her daughter. Miss Edith Joyce Marshall, to Lucius E. Lull, Central Point Miss Marshall's father is E. E. Marshall, Watsonville, Cal. She is a graduate of Medford high school and is employed at the Pacific Telephone and Tele graph company. Her fiance is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert G. Lull, Cen tral Point. He attended Central Point high school and entered the service before, graduating but resumed his studies after his discharge and was graduated from Southern Oregon college. Mr. Lull is self-employed in Central Point. The wedding will be in the fall. 4 Ashland, Medford Singers on Program For Music Society Members of the Medford Mu sic society were entertained by talent from a neighboring city as well as from a recently or ganized group of local Mother singers at their monthly-meeting Monday evening. The meeting was in the home of Mrs. William McAllister. Jackson school's Mothersing ers group, directed by Mrs. Fred Morlan, sang two familiar songs, Joyce Kilmer's "Trees" and "The Loveliest Night of the Year." Mrs. Stanley Lacey sang an effective solo part Jn the lat ter, accompanied by "chorus voices and by Mrs. Horace Doo len at the piano. A men's quartet from South ern Oregon college, under di rection of O. C. Bjorlie, super visor of the school music in the college, gave four selections. The voices seemed well blend ed and light and the interpreta tions and timing were artistic. The selections they sang were "High Barbary,", "Mighty Lak a Rose," "The Old Ark a Moverin" and the Southern Oregon college alma mater song arranged by Lloyd Bun nell, one of the quartet mem bers. Other members included James Baker, George Kekuna and Paul Adams. Mrs. Martel Peters, also from Ashland, and well known in the valley music circles, sang four numbers. Her voice seems to adapt itself to a variety of song types and proved pleasing in drainer's "Hozannah" as well as in the lighter numbers, "Thine Alone, " "A Little Bit of Heav en" and "Over the Rainbow." She was accompanied by Miss Lorraine Veidt. The entire program was ar ranged by Mrs. Virgil Bolton. Grand Guardian To Visit Bethel Mrs. Avon Vert. Portland, grand guardian of Job's Daugh ters for Oregon, will make an official visit to the Medford bethel Wednesday, March 19 at 7:30 p. m. Formal initiation cere monies will be held. . Grands club was observed Thursday evening at Girls Community club. Mrs. A. H. Hansen, president, pre sided. Thirteen of the 27 past presi dents of the Medford club were present and presented corsages by Mrs. Minnie Bryant, chair man for the occasion, and Mrs. Dana Bowers, secretary, who assisted. Four members - of the club present are past presidents of other past noble grands' clubs and they also were presented corsages. The Medford past presidents jn attendance were Mrs. Michael O'Shea, Mrs. D. M. McDannel, Mrs. Carl Pearson, Mrs. George Howard.- Mrs. Rosa Young. Mrs. P. M. Aldredge, Mrs. Ed Pease, Mrs. O. S. Walden, Mrs. Joe Cave, Mrs. Ina Huson, Mrs. James Wicker. Mrs. Lewis Thompson and Mrs. W. H. Dyer. Past presidents of other clubs were Mrs. A. H. Gregory, past president of the Chico, Calif., club; Mrs. Clarence Wimer, the Myrtle Creek. Ore., club; Mrs. Vera Myers, Hastings, Neb., club and Mrs. Mary Moss of the Lake view, Ore., club. Mrs. Moss also is a past Oregon state president of the Rebekah assembly. Since the club was organized three of the past presidents have passed away. They are Mrs. Telitha Pickle, Mrs. Ella Rogers and Mrs. Ella Gould. Past presidents unable to at tend were Mrs. Carrie Morand and Mrs. Mary Wiley, both of Portland; Mrs. Elsie Milliard, Ventura. Calif., Mrs. Leah Ivie, Salem, and Mrs. Florence Klatt, Roseburg. Mrs. A. H. Hansen, the present president of the Medford club, presided at the meeting. Mrs. A. B. Shirley was refresh ment chairman, assisted by Mrs. Carrie Milnes, Mrs. L. O. How ard. Mrs. A. H. Hansen, and Mrs. Ella Parks. Mrs. E. L. Miller. Paisley, Ore., a past noble grand, was present. Mrs. Margaret Davis won a prize. The club was organized at a meeting March 13, 1924. Mrs. Kathrena Daniels, district depu ty, presided. Mrs. H. D. Turner was elected the first president; Mrs. Arthur Hess, vice-president, and Miss Ruth Daniels, secretary-treasurer. The group voted to meet the second Thursday of each month and the date of meeting has never been changed. There have been 27 presidents. The corsages for the past presi dents at the anniversary meet ing were made by Mrs. Harry Bryant and her committee, and other arrangements were made by the FL girls, as well as the present secretary, Mrs. Dana Bowmer. Walkers Return From Trip South Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Walker, daughter Wilda and son Danny of Fern Valley road, returned home March 11 after spending 12 days in California and Mex ico. While in California they vis ited their son, Lloyd Keith, who is in the Navy, stationed aboard the aircraft carrier USS Prince ton. They also visited Mrs. Walk er's sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bryant, in Chula Vista, Cal. The Bryants are former residents of Medford. Announce Guest On KYJC Program Eric Townsend will play rec ords from his collection today during the new program, "Guest Conductor", now being aired by Radio Station KYJC each Sun day between 4 and 5 pan. . The program, started two two weeks ago, was planned with the double purpose of por viding an hour of fine music Sunday afternoons and of giving music lovers an opportunity to broadcast some of their favorite recordings. Mr. Townsend is on the staff of First National Brank.
