Lewis, Wash., according to an Army release. He joined the service in 1941 and participated in the Marshall islands and Oki nawa campaigns, the occupation of Japan and the Korean cam paign. He has been awarded the Asiatic-Pacific, pre-Pearl harbor, victory, Japan occupational, Ko rean and UN ribbons. The 23lst engineer combat battalion, of which he now is a member, was one of the key participants in the atomic experiments conducted last fall on Yucca flats near Las Vegas, Nev. Eismann, Hol land hotel, has reported the theft from his car of clothing valued at about $15, city police said to day. Hed lund, former Medford resident now living hi Clackamas county, was injured in an automobile ac cident Sunday, March 2, accord ing to information received here from relatives. Mrs. Hedlund had attended services at the small non denominational church which she helped to organize, ac cording to the report,, and on leaving the building was . struck by a backing car and pinned between- it and another vehicle. She is confined to the Oregon City hospital with a fractured pelvis bone and other injuries and will be bedfast for six or eight weeks, it was stated. Mrs. Hedlund is the mother of Mrs. R. W. Childreth and Al Gould, both former Medford residents. March 7. 1952 Kivanis Kapers Put On 'Recommended' List by MT Reviewer For theatergoers who like well-balanced and blended vari ety in their entertainment, the fourth annual Kiwanis Kapers and Minstrel show presentation of "Gee! Washington" is on the "recommended" list The production, which played to an appreciative audience of second nighters at the senior high school auditorium last night and wil be repeated tonight and Saturday, runs' the gamut in va riety from the hilarious and ridiculous to the sublime and sentimental. Its songs, dances, gags, spectacles and colorful costuming stir almost every emo tion. 'Giv Away' Number . . "Gee! Washington" reaches heights, of hilarity in the Dandy Candidates number, in the an tics of the end men and in the greatest give-away program since the Kef auver investigation. There is deep sentiment in Monu ment Moments as Bud Hohen see and Geneva Young, as George and Martha- Washing ton, in glowing costumes, step out of picture frames and do a minuet as daylight fades. Kiwanians strike a serious note as Ron Rice and the cast sing "I Am an American" in the first act finale and as the min strel chorus sings "May the Good Lord Bless and Keep You." It's a show full of surprise endings, and the Thursday au dience, in anticipation, warmed to the production as it pro gressed. Director Credited Phil Butler, Geller produc tions, who wrote and produced the show and is the director, can be credited with a fine job of casting the Kapers. Minstrel Act In the minstrel act Thursday, Sally Champlin was encored for her rendition of "The Loveliest Night of the Year." The Three Notes, Dean and Gus Voss and Don Phelps of Crater high school, were a popular trio.
