Ted Pierce, naval reserve procurement officer stationed at thirteenth naval district head quarters in Seattle, has informed the unit that top priority is be ing given the 12 new organized electronics companies now being organized In the Pacific north west. The Medford unit will be the senior unit of all valley naval reserve organizations and the only group to draw pay for its drill periods. After discussion of adminis trative details on Monday eve ning, navy combat motion pic tures will be shown. British Columbia Woodworkers To Strike Vancouver, B. C, June 10 (U.p.) strike orders went out to duv to 32.000 British Columbia constat woodworkers Involved in a wage-hour dispute that could throw a wrench in British Columbia's economy. Stewart Alsbury, British Co lumbia district president of the CIO International Woodworkers of America, said final returns from a government supervised strike vote taken yesterday showed 75 per cent of the un ion's members had voted to down tools June 15. The union demanded a gen eral 17 cent hourly pay raise, a union shop and a five day, 40 hour week from 163 coastal log ging operators who earn 40 cents of every productive dol lar in the province. 19, in two special cars. In the evening the boys will march from headquarters to the Southern Pacific depot, in run uniform and Dulling the carts. At the depot an outdoor court of honor will be held oetore train time, at which Jack Bailey will be awarded ranger rank in the Explorer scouts. Bailey li one of the few scouts in the nation who has achieved Explorer rang er rank as well as eagle rank in the scouts, and the first to do so in this council. "Trade Articles' The boys will each carry 50 "trade articles" representative of this area to exchange for similar articles brought by boys trom nthpr narls of the country. They will all wear neckerchiefs of satin, red and bronze or green and bronze in color, which were made up by scout mothers. The kerchiefs will bear the council emblem, and are expected to be about the "flashiest'1 at the jam boree. Dr. Lemery and Scout Execu tive Cliff Hanson will be in charge of the contingent of local hovs nn the trin. The doctor is assistant medical officer at the jamboree for scoifts from sec tion 31. the Pacific northwest, and Hanson is assistant commis sary officer. In Two Troops The boys will be organized into two troops for the journey, Troop 11 and Troop 12. Troop 11 leaders will be Herb Sampert, scoutmaster, and Lee Morford and Mike Stansfield. assistants. Younger leaders will be Jack Bailey (Explorer Post 8, Med ford), senior patrol leader; Lloyd Bishop (Explorer Post 3, Med ford) scribe, and Jack Dolan, (Explorer Post 24, Jerome Prai rie), quartermaster. Leading Troop 1Z will be c. A. Red" Stothers, scoutmaster, and John Eddy and George Morey, assistants. Senior patrol leader will be David Story (Sea Scout Shin Rogue. Grants Pass, scribe will be Dunne Goodman (Explor er Post .1). and quartermaster Is James Butts (Troop 77, Grants Pass). Youth Leaves Hospital For Visit at Home Richard N. Maudlin, IB. son of Roy Maudlin. South Pacific high way, is spending five days here with his father after receiving his high school diploma at com mencement exercises at the Ore gon State Tuberculosis hospital in Salem. Maudlin was one of five graduates from the high school at the hospital. He will return to the hospital after his visit here and will prob ably continue his education un der the rehabilitation service provided by the state and federal governments. 'Accordionists to Play at Dunsmuir 'Railroad Days' More than 100 members of the Eve Prentice Accordion band will participate in the Railroad Days celebration at Dunsmuir, Cal., on Jun 17 and 18. The band will make a 15-min- ute radio broadcast Saturday morning of the celebration and will give an hour-long program from a downtown grandstand. Members will also entertain at the Southern Pacific company depot for the Shasta Daylight train in the evening. Also Saturday evening the band will present a 45-minute formal program from the down town grandstand. New Uniforms Attired in new black and white uniforms, the band will march in the Sunday noon parade and later will play another concert at the grandstand. The celebration will include ball games, street dancing and model railroad exhibit and con test. Other groups featured will be the Ashland Kiltie, Mt. Shasta Community and Southern Pacific bands. Mrs. Prentice received the in vitation last December. Since then the band has been invited to play in the Cherryland festi val at Salem and the centennial at Redding, Cal., but both dates were the same as for the Duns muir festivities. The band has been booked for August 11 and 12 for the Sweet Home Pioneer days, and September 1, 2, 3 for the Moose state convention at Klamath Falls.
